So Can Anyone Help Me Figure Out How Benzos Help Me Talk??

Okay well I was injured in a very bad car accident and I am suffering from a Traumatic brain injury and also I have a very hard time talking without a large amount of benzodiazepines; but for right now i am only given 2mg 3xs a day of ativan,but yeah so before that i was on 1mg 3xs a day of Xanax, but yeah the reason I switched to ativan was bc plus I have honestly become immune to the Xanax ..so yeah I am going to be seeing a nuerologist on March 2nd and from their diagnoses i am going to have to take it to my Dr appt on March 7th and then I will have to get a recommendation from the neurologist 2 be at a stronger does. And from what my Dr told me that he's fine with upping my dosage to as high as the neurologist will recommend

I am very sorry about what happened to you! That is horrible!

As to why the benzodiazepines may help, it could be due to the fact that overall, they are basically downers, so they tend to make us slow down to a different pace, both physically, and mentally, according to NIH studies. Thus, it could be that they are relaxing you enough to make it easier for your brain to process your language patterns.

I am not a doctor, so I can guarantee this is correct, I am just tossing out a theory.

The FDA warns that this class of medications carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability.

Are you on any other medications?

Ok so yes I currently take Suboxone 8mg 3xs per day, then I take 30 mg of adderal 2 times per day, then I take 2 mg of Ativan 3 times per day and then I take 20 mg up Ambien at night. Oh yes and also another thing is when I take my Ambien at night I can talk perfectly fine and yes I know that it might sound crazy but it's the truth
