Methylcobalamin is a form of Vitamin B12, so it is a nutritional supplement. It is often given to people that suffer from nerve pain, because a lack of it can contribute to or cause such conditions.

However, as a supplement, the side effect profiles for it have not been studied, as is done for prescription medications, but some people have reported some nausea after taking it.
