Seeking A Doctor In Michigan
UpdatedOkay... so for quite a few years now (at least 3-4 consecutively) I've been having extremely debilitating panic attacks. So much so that not only have they raised the stress in my life so bad as to cause ulcers, but I've been hospitalized on more then 3 seperate occasions due to a severe anxiety disorder. I've tried many things, saught counceling, a therapist... was put on Celexa, Buspar, Wellbutrin, Diazepam.. (I'll not list everything, as the doctors had me jumping around for awhile.) However, Alprazolam and Clonozepam* are the only two 'anti-anxiety' meds that seem to work for me. As they onset quickly, I need something that response just as quickly. Unfortunately, I do not currently have insurance.. (At least not until the 1rst of Feb) And I'm seeking a doctor that will keep costs low and effectively meet my needs. I've also been prescribed Adderall 30mg IR for an extended time... and due to being back in school (and since my last insurance was cancelled) I haven't been able to find/afford a way to acquire a prescription...
It's a struggle, really... especially when all I want is relief from a daily hell that plagues my life. They say therapy helps? But it has done squat over a 2-3 year course. Of course, once I get insurance again I'll be seeking a new doctor, etc... but if anyone knows a doc or somewhere affordable to handle these meds, it would be greatly appreciated if you got ahold of me.
I'm in White Lake, Michigan - near the waterford area.

The main problem is that due to the new directives that were put in place last year by the DEA, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist, which in this case would be a psychiatrist and they aren't going to be cheap.
The FDA lists these medications as being benzodiazepines, which are used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. They carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
You might be able to get a general practitioner to help you, for a short period of time, at least until you get your insurance, but most are going to be very reluctant to do so.
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area that might help?
