Can ritalin and concerta stimulants show up in a urine drug screen? I take those medications, and twice now I've tested positive for cocaine. I haven't did any coke, since back in the 1990's. If anyone can help answer my questions, and give me some documentation, that I can show my probation officer. I'd be very thankful!

Both Ritalin and Concerta contain Methylphenidate and no, neither has been known to cause false positives for Cocaine.

Had you taken anything else, even over the counter products?

not likely at all, ritalin/concerta would not show up as cocaine in a urine screen. in fact the 5 panel or even the ten panel test do not test for ritalin. ritalin is a methlphenidate not an amphetamine. highly unlikely for the test to show as a false positive.

If you tested positive for cocaine, you ingested cocaine in some fashion. As the other two posters have said, both Concerta and Ritalin are a Methylphenidate, which metabolizes into PPAA (phenyl-piperidine acetic acid). While it can show a false positive for amphetamine, you're more likely to test positive for amphetamine if you use over-the-counter Vicks Vaporinhaler, which does contain l-amphetamine.
