My wife is scheduled to receive her second Prolia shot on December 15 this year. Her first shot was June 15 this year. Her prescriptions taken are: Cerefolin, Terazosin, Jantoven, RopiniroleHCL and Lispanopril. Her over the counters are Fishoil, C Ocuvie, C-500mg, Calcium/w/B3. She suffered C-dif, 2 blood clots in her right lung, and has a recurring breaking out on the calf of her left leg which has gone on for in the winder of 2011 also. Should she be taking Prolia in Demember? ## Please go to the Prolia Forum and you can read about 270 people who received Prolia and have had and have terrible side effects as long as 18 months later, plus not even Prolia knows what the side effects will do. If she had 1 Shot, please reconsider anything that is injected once every 6 months, and you can...

Does it make sense for my 89 year old mother to be put on Prolia? She has osteoarthritis, broke her hip 7 years ago but no fractures since. She claims dr told her drug will improve her immunity, but my reading about side effects indicate immunity can be compromised plus risk of several other side effects that someone her age should not have to be exposed to. Do pros outweigh cons for someone her age? ## Hello, Lin! How is your mother? No, this isn't to help with immunity, it's to treat or prevent osteoporosis. My guess is that the doctor is hoping to prevent any future fractures from occurring. Aside from the side effects that are listed as being common, such as UTIs, constipation and rashes, the primary complaint I've read from actual users in posts like this is severe join...

AFTER READING ALL THE ABOVE, I DON'T KNOW IF I WANT A 2ND SHOT OF THIS STUFF !! I THOUGHT RECLAST WAS BAD ENOUGH, BUT THIS IS WORSE !!! I was aware of osteonecrosis & urinary tract infections, I said oh, I get those anyway. But after the 1st shot , I feel like I went to hell for a week. Now just getting back to myself again, no more headache & nausea everyday. This is a real dillemma for me, b/c I had a total hyst @ 18, and have been on pills 45 yrs, which I can no longer take. So what's next ??? ## I'm sorry that you've been through so much. You're not the only one that's had such complaints about the Prolia injections. Have you considered looking into the natural bio-identical hormones as an option? You should check with your doctor to make sure that it...

I have terrible hives from Prolia. I have been taking Tagamet and Benadryl it has been helping my hives. I wonder if taking the medicine for hives will cause another problem with Prolia. I will never take this shot again. ## Hello, Rose! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problem you're having. Many people have had bad reactions to Prolia and had to stop it. I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between them, but it's always best to double check such information for your own safety. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I went to my doctor the day and he said it was okay to take Benadryl and Tagamet. Thanks for your concern.

RECLAST & PROLIA both CAN & DO CAUSE WHATEVER YOU READ ON HERE. tHEY BOTH ARE NOT THE PROPER DRUGS FOR ANY OF US. sIDE EFFECTS DIFFER FROM ONE TO THE OTHER, SOME LAST A LONG TIME. i DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE ANYMORE, BUT I DO HAVE SIGNIFICANT TMJ PAIN & CLICKING IN MY JAW. OPERATED ON TMJ 25 YRS. AGO---NO PROBLEM UNTIL I TOOK FIRST SHOT OF PROLIA. PAIN IN LONG BONE OF LEG ALSO, THE ONE THAT USUALLY SPLINTERS FROM RECLAST !! GOOD LUCK TO ALL/ ## Hi Antonette, How's it going? I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Prolia inj's. Based on the number of threads I've seen created on Prolia side effects (just on this site alone), it seems like there should be enough people to organize some sort of petition to the FDA regarding it's serious adverse effect...

I have had 3 Prolia injections. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis when I had a severe fracture of my ankle. I knew I had Osteopenia but had to stop Fosamax due to severe foot cramping. The first cycle of Prolia I was fine. The second cycle I experienced horrible relux problems about 1 month out from injection - this continued for several months. Then I broke out in a rash on my back - very itchy - scratched til it bled. Dermatologist swears it cannot be from the Prolia. Well the rash calmed down on my back and I went ahead with the third injection in April. Within weeks my back started itching and now its in my scalp itchy plaque like lesions - GROSS! I will not get another of these injections. I don't think anyone knows what this drug does. I have not had a followup Dexa scan yet. ...

I have had chronic pancreatitis since I was 22. years old and now am 67 years old, history of fractures, post menopausal osteoporosis and it is in the DNA with both my mother and her mother having osteoporosis. Will it be a risk having the PROLIA when I already have the pancreatitis, asymptomatic as I have been on enzymes since my first acute attack. Also I have ME and chemical sensitivities, leaky gut, writable bowel syndrome, chronic anaemia on its treatment. What would my risk be with the PROLIA as I would like to prevent a hip fracture. However I have had many side affects to drugs. Appreciate any information as would like to make an educated formed decision. Many Thanks for your support and site ## Hello, Gypsy! How are you? It's not a high risk, but there is a chance it could worsen...

My first injection of Prolia was in November 2013, age 72, and the second injection was early in June 2014. After the first shot I had pain in my left ankle and lower back which was diagnosed as arthritis. After the second shot the ankle pain greatly increased and my right ankle and hips are also painful, making walking difficult. Absolutely nothing relieves the pain and it's affecting my sleep. I'll never take another shot and hope that the pain subsides. In my opinion this medicine should be taken off the market. ## Hello, Emily! How are you doing? I am very sorry that you're in pain. Many people have reported these types of issues from Prolia and it's caused almost all of them to stop using it. It's very common for these side effects to occur with virtually all of...

My Mum was given a 60mg injection of Prolia on 2nd May 2014. Ever since she has had severe abdominal pain, can't keep off the toilet and her lips have blistered and bled! This is awful and she wishes she had not had it. At 79 years old she suffers with osteoporosis and quite honestly was better off before the injection. I sincerely hope these side effects don't last for six months because she sure as hell won't be having a second dose. Be warned people, it seems that there are so many problems with this drug. ## Hello, Janet! How is your mother feeling? Yes, there have been many complaints about Prolia, there have even been people who managed to take it without a problem the first few times, then suddenly had a reaction.

3weeks ago I had my 4th prolia injection. I am 68 years young. Before this my side effects were mild. This time I've had neck ache on either side of the vertebrae sometimes going to the top of my head. Also ear ache on one side. Delicate skin when I touch the side of the ear and head. I have tried pain killers but when I stop it comes back. I feel tired and not myself at all. Any suggestions? Or ideas of what alternatives there are after these 5 months are over. I've had fosilan, daily, monthly, aclasta and now prolia. Needless to say I have osteo. ## Dear Diane , with the pain u r having, I would suggest staying on the pain pills if they r helping. (As u said they were.) u said it you're self that when u don't take them, u r in pain, again. How long have u been on them ...

I am a 68 year old woman with severe osteoporosis. I had a bone scan and tested -4.5. I was on Fosimax for 5 years but had severe thigh pain and had to quit. Just 6 months ago I had my first Prolia shot. I felt okay for the first month or 6 weeks and then had a severe bladder infection. I went to my doctor and he put me on Cipro for a week. It didn't work. Then he put me on another antibiotic for another week and I finally got relief. Neither of us thought of the Prolia shot even though I've always been healthy and never had problems with my bladder. When it finally got better, I got a horrific head cold. Again, something I never get and haven't had one for many years. It was the worse cold I ever had and it laid me up for 2 weeks. As of now, I still have the darn thing alth...

could extreme tiredness be a side effect from prolea ## Hi Wilda, Sorry to hear about your reaction to Prolia. Based on my research, tiredness and weakness are actually both listed as side effects of this medication. So yes.. it is possible that this could be the cause of your symptoms. However you should probably also discuss this with your doctor in case you think those effects could've been triggered by something else that you might be taking or eating. You can also see these side effects posted in the link below for verification: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMHT0009849/?report=details#side_effects How long have you been taking it for until you noticed this happening?

Hello. I will be taking PROLIA for osteoporosis since no other pill or medication has worked. However, I have been diagnosed with G6PDH deficiency (dehydrogenase deficiency or green enzyme ellipsis) and I haven't been getting clear answers about whether I should avoid taking prolia for this reason. Does any ingredient react with this deficiency?

I had my first injection on Feb.16th. I am 72 years young. I have neck and shoulder pain off and on. Aqua Relaxing class at the Y has helped this but since the shot I am having more pain in neck and across my shoulders on both sides. Not sure if injection could cause this. I have a lot of stress in my life and also slept in a twin bed for a few days after shot and thought pain started with that. Not sure if that was the cause? Should I call the Dr.,or Chiropractor or get a massage? It seems to come and go but it has me worried. ## You should contact your doctor. There have been quite a few reports of Prolia causing pain in some people and it has often resulted in their no longer being able to use it. Only your doctor is going to be able to help you discover if it is from the Prolia and h...

I had my first prolia injection 11/8/13 after being on daily injections of Forteo for 8 months. Has anyone experienced severe tightness in their fingers or hands where it feels like they are retaining water? It hurts to write because I can barely bend my fingers. It goes into a tingling sensation. When I walk it feels like I cannot fully extend my knees as if there is water buildup too? Just so stiff. I thought it was arthritis kicking in but I'm not so sure right now. ## Hello, Mickey! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. To be honest, from what others have posted on here, I have to say that there isn't anything from these types of medications that would surprise me cropping up as a side effect. There have been many complaints, some similar...

On 11/6/12 I received a 60 mg dose of Prolia intravenously . Shortly afterwards ( a couple of days) I had severe diarrhea and flu like symptoms which cleared up in a week or so. THEN the jaw pain took over my life----- It was excruciating. I went for a scan of my jaw and was told that I have osteonecrosis of the jaw. Today, 11/1/13 some of the pain has eased but it is still difficult for me to eat chewy foods and to get a good night's sleep. To cough, sneeze or yawn causes severe pain. I get sharp pain in my ear mostly at night. My family doctor prescribed Alleve twice a day and a narcotic pain killer in between when the pain gets unbearable. I contacted the company (Amgen) and was told they were sorry for my problems but had nothing to reverse the symptoms. It has been nearly a yea...

I received my first prolia shot 3 weeks ago. At first I felt fine. Lately, I have severe leg, arm, and lower back pain. I exercise an hour a day and I am in excellent health. I am wondering if these reactions will ever disappear or lessen. It is exagerated at night in bed. Please let me know if these pains will go away? ## The joint pain can be a side effect of the Prolia shots, it should eventually go away, but may return if you try more shots. Learn more Prolia details here. Are you feeling any better? Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? ## I can tell you I had painfull joints and nausea. I called the manufacturers and reported it to my doctor. It took about 2 months before theses symptoms subsided. I will not be getting this injection again. ## Yes, after a week of motrin,...

Briefly, 67 yrs. old with T-scores in the -4 to -4.9 range. I already have 6 compression fractures; 4 of them in the spine. My Rheumatologist insists on Prolia, and my Neurologist is insisting on the Kyphoplasty proceedures. I am virtually bedridden and heavily medicated with 2 types of morphine. After reading all of the negative posts, I have intrepidation when it comes to the IV's. My insurance only covers 2 IV's total. I am a widow and have limited income. Can 2 IV's do any good in restoration of bones? We had to cancel my first IV because of a fresh fracture that occurred just repositioning myself in bed. Now I'm considering cancelling the IV's forever. ## Hello,. GrammaKj! How are you feeling? When you read horror stories online, you should be aware that they ar...
