What was the result when you came off?

Did all side effects go away and you return to normal?

Mine is better but not all at once. Give it some time and I bet it gets better.

Does anyone know if your joint pain will stop after you stop taking Eliquis? I am hoping that my pain will cease and my joints will return to normal. I pray hope these side effects are not permanent.

Re: Pat (# 135) Expand Referenced Message

I told my cardiologist about the pain I started having with Eliquist and he said to stop and go back to 325 mg asperin.
It was stop cold turkey and I have no problem from doing that. Still have some joint pain but slowly getting better. I can feel the results.

I believe we are all sharing mutual pain and side effects from this drug. I'm surprised that you are taking asprin and Eliquis. I would definitely get 2nd opinion about taking both of those drugs together. Why can't you just take asprin to thin your blood? I hope you will call and report your side effects to the FDA. Thanks to changing my thyroid, I no longer have Afib, so I halved the Eliquis for 3 weeks and stopped completely one week ago. I do take Krill Oil and 800 mgs of Natural Vitamin E. I'm hoping you will find a solution quickly.

THANK YOU so much for sharing your story. My Afib is silent too, so I am taking Krill Oil and 800 mgs of Natural Vitamin E. I have be successful in doing this for over a week now without any problem. My hip and shoulders are slowly getting better and I can walk now. I hope you will contact the FDA and report your reactions to Eliquis.

Re: Twilight (# 140) Expand Referenced Message

If you have blood in your urine, call your MD immediately. That is a serious side effect and you could have ruined your kidneys. Your MD will take you off of Eliquis immediately. Yes, I have had horrible joint, hip and shoulder pain. No MD would take me off of Eliquis. I called the FDA and ask for forms to complete on this drug for joint pain. She told me two weeks ago 109 people had completed forms about joint pain with Eliquis. My for is also on the way. I think everyone should call the FDA and complain. My thyroid has been straightened out and I no longer have Afib, but they still won't help me come off this horrible drug. I'm close to hip surgery, so I started cutting my pills in half, after 3 weeks, I just stopped taking them. Remember I no longer have Afib, so do your best to get help with what is causing your Afib. Since this pill cost so much and Medicare is footing the bill to the insurance no one will want to take you off this horrible drug. Call the FDA and good luck. Also, lots of good videos/information on YouTube about Eliquis.

Yes. I have been taking eliquis for 4 months and have terrible joint pain and stiffness. I now also have pelvic pain... Has anyone else had the pelvic pain? Also have trouble sleeping. Had blood in urine, too.

You are hereby given an A+. This is indeed a great post. You learn of other people's issues and with this knowledge make changes to your own life. Once you make the changes; the knowledge becomes wisdom. Each case is different.
Know it, understand it and own it. By the by there is a product called NO SALT out there that my doctor has approved for me.

All my best and keep it up.

I have responded before but after a trip to ER was he to my 2nd unstoppable nose bleed I stopped Eliquis with the doctor dose. I take a baby aspirin plus fish oil etc. I do split one pill at night. Have not had another nose bleed or the threat of one. My pulse is 63 and my Afib is quiet? Follow your doctor of course but I did not. Riding in an ambulance to the ER with a nose bleed was the end for me.

Re: JAZZZY (# 120) Expand Referenced Message

I can not follow my doctors instructions for being removed from Eliquis as there are none. My heart is strong but I should not take Asprin. Does anyone know if you can just reduce the dose and come off of this pill safely. I take 5mgs, 2 X Daily. How many days, weeks, or months should I reduce the dose before I can safely be off of Eliquis

Almost five months after stopping ELIQUIS and began 325 MG Bayer. I understand the difference between a blood thinner and anti-clotting meds. Again only follow your Doctor's instruction. I am doing fine and enjoying saving money.

Re: Marty (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I have been on Eliquis for the past 7 months, due to Afib which was diagnosed in October 2017. Joint pain began in my hips in November and has steadily become worse. Since I no longer have Afib, and the joint pain has become severe in my hips and shoulders, I desperately need/must come off of Eliquis. My Afib was caused by High levels of Reverse T3, Serum in my Thyroid. Once my Thyroid was changed the Afib disappeared but now I am diagnosed with Chronic Afib. If I come off of Eliquis, I must do it by myself and I'm frankly scared. Can someone walk me through steps to come off of it?? Due to Gout, I've always had good results with Natural Vitamin E thinning my blood, but I'm willing to try Asprin and cough my head off. MANY THANKS FOR PROPOSING A GROUP STUDY - IT IS DESPERATELY NEEDED.

Took Eliquis for 3 mos. when done with my vascular Dr. put me on 1 baby aspirin a day. Everything was fine but I started getting purplish marks on my forearms & the back of my hands. Some were the size of half-dollars. Ugly & totally embarrassing. Our granddaughter is graduating in 3 wks. I asked my primary care Dr. if I could stop taking them for a while so as hopefully not to have any more that day. She said I could quit for 2 wks. before the graduation & then start back on them 4 times a wk. afterwards. I’ve decided to call the vascular dr. to hopefully get his approval too. I’m sorry to read of the problems that others have had. Wish you all a safe transition.

Yes! Please share your results with me of coming off of Eliquis! I didn't see the date of this blog so when are you coming off it or have you already? How did they have you do it?

Re: Marty (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I was put on Eloquist 1 month ago. 5mb. twice a day. Since then I have had elevating pain in my left ankle that restricts my walking to minimum. I already had Neuropathy in the foot but not what I have now with pain when walking. My left wrist is also so painful I wear a brace.
I have requested my Dr. take me off. Have not received an answer but will today I'm sure.
This is bad stuff. Rather that spend there's of my life on a walker, I'll take chances with asperin that I had been on for years.

Hi

I weaned myself of Eliquis. Instead of each day, I took 1 every other day, then 1 every 3 days until I was out of them. I then continued with the baby aspirin.
