Is Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg the same drug as Nexium 40 mg? My husband was given Nexium samples by the doctor but was prescribed the Pantoprazole. Thank you ## Hi Barb, From what I could gather, they appear to be completely different drugs that are used for similar purposes. My guess is that the doctor wanted him to sample the Nexium to see if he responded better to one or the other. Nexium contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole & Pantoprazole happens to be the active ingredient in and of itself; but both are classified as proton pump inhibitors. I hope this info helps to shed some light on the subject!

I should not be taking NEXIUM if I have a serious liver problem. I can looked it up on the internet! ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? Did they suggest you use Nexium? Nexium contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole, it is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn and ulcers. And, while it can affect how certain other medications may be processed by the liver, it doesn't actually list that it shouldn't be taken by those with liver problems. What should your cholestrol reading be in order to start using Michol 20 MG? Do you lose weight when taking Michol 20 mg? ## i am on michol 80mg. since taking this constipation,wind and indigestion, headaches and ibs sindrome with pressure up my chest at night while sleeping. I currently take Dexilant DR 60mg for acid reflux and I have 4 ulcers in my small Intestine. I dont seem to be getting any relief from the Ulcers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im deperate. I was on Nexium 80mg's before I started the Dexilant. It too worked for a while than stopped. ## How long did you take them? It can take 12 to 16 weeks for these medications to help such conditions heal. Nexium 40 compared to Raciper 40? ## Both of these contain the active ingredient Esomeprazole, they are just manufactured by different companies. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat or prevent conditions, such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and Gastritis. I am using Nexiam 40 g for 10 days now. No more heartburn but I still have a hollow feeling on my stomach and now also uncomfortable feeling over my chest. ## It is kind of hard for me to guess as exactly what you mean by these descriptions. Are you speaking of chest pain? Stomach pain or something else? Common side effects can include: nausea, gas, diarrhea and abdominal pain. It is not really chest pains that I'm having, more like an anxiety feeling and also heart palpitation. This started after the 3rd or 4th day of taking the tablets.
