I am from South-Africa and a breast cancer survivor. Was on Nexium tabs and it did not helped me all the time acid reflux and abdominal pain. I also got a sliding hiatal hernia. From 10/11/2014 on Altosec 20mg ..No more heart burn,no reflux sliding hiatal hernia is better. Side effects none!!! ## Hello, Princess! How are you? I'm very glad that this medication has helped you. Altosec is listed as containing the active ingredient Omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor, it helps reduce the amount of acid produced by your stomach. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, Thank you for the help. I am suffering with GERD since quite some time. Earlier days I used to have some heart burn and it would relieve from anti-acid tables and syrups. However, from past 2-3 years the acid reflux has become worse, with lot of choking sensation in throat, heaviness in throat, un-easiness in breathing and it gets worse when I go for bed, each time I need to cough and drink water to make my-self a bit comfortable. This sensation remains most of the day when I take some citric foods and in nights I can’t sleep. I tried elevating the front portion of bed and going for bed 2 hours after a meal, however, these artifacts were proved to be of not much help. I am on Neksium 40mg daily one before food and Gaviscon syrup after food only at night, this table relieves th...

Has anyone tried the Omedex Plus 40 mg Esomeprazol as a substitute for Nexium. I bought some in Mexico but haven't tried it yet. It is a clear capsule with with pellets inside. The pellets look like the same thing as inside the Nexium capsules. Insurance quit paying for Nexium so looking for an alternative. Thanks ## Hi Mike, Have you considered looking into any "natural" alternatives to Nexium? A few to mention are suggested in the link below: livestrong.com/article/147832-natural-alternatives-to-nexium Additionally, you can adjust your diet to help improve any symptoms of GERD: -Avoid or reduce consumption of foods and beverages that contain caffeine, chocolate, garlic, onions, peppermint, spearmint, and alcohol. Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees increase acid sec...

I am a 51 year old woman and have been suffering from reflux and have been taking nexium 40 for many years. My GP recently asked me to take calcium to improve bone health. Can you advise if there are any issues taking these together? ## Hello, Suzanne! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed, but you should always double check such information. The Shelcal is a calcium supplement, so it may cause some constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Nothing more. Thanks for your response. ## I was diagnosed 6 years ago with two stomach ulcers which were the non bacterial kind. My doc put me on Nexium and I became "addicted". I couldn't go 2 days without the pill even long after the ulcers had healed. My health deteriorated. I gained weight....

I suffer from chronic chest pains, and it feels like someone is crushing my heart, i get sharp pains, and it debilatates me. in the ER the have given me this green goddess and it worked wonders, hard to swallow after, but it killed the pain, well my ignorant Dr. refuses to subscribe it to me, she tends to think that the nexium will work one day. So i figure ill make my own green goddess, but all i know is that it contains lidocain,, maylox, or mylanta and something else. so if anyone could help me with my problem i would greatly appreciate it, i have dealt with this pain for 12 years, and im tired of it,. Thank you ## The name of this mixture varies from region to region, from what I can discover it contains Lidocaine, Mylanta and Donnatal. The Lidocaine is a mild, topical anesthetic. T...

I have been given a prescription of Nexium for a gerd/reflux issue. However, since I've been taking it, it seems like my arthritis ( mainly in my hands ) has been hurting more and getting worse. Is arthritis inflammation or joint soreness a side effect of Nexium? ## Have you been taking any other vitamins or medications with the Nexium? Although joint pain is not specifically listed as a side-effect (headaches are possible though), I am wondering if there are any drug interactions going on here. Is 40 mg of omeprazole SA equivalent to 20 mg of nexium? ## Hello, Norman! How are you? Actually no, these are equivalent medications, so 20mgs of one is the same as 20mgs of the other. Has your doctor told you to switch to 40mgs of the Omeprazole?

I agree with the person who stated that those who abuse pain meds, especially when you are not prescribed them - make it hard for those of us with true chronic pain. I reside in Florida and it's an Act of Congress in this state to find pain mgmt that truly believes in you. Of course MRI's, X-Rays, that helps also. But it frustrates me to no end everyone that's so paranoid about being tested because they shouldn't be taking it in the first place. I won't go through my medical issues except suffice to say one of the things I'm trying to avoid is a spinal fusion. I'm terrified because no one could help take care of me or my dogs....at all. True chronic pain will begin to mess with your depression, and I already have Major Depressive Disorder. This pain has robbe...

Dry mouth and cough followed by sneezing. This happens each time I start to eat. ## Hello, Judy! That almost sounds like it might be an allergy of some type. Is there anything consistent with each meal that you could be having an allergic reaction to? Do you take the Nexium with every meal, rather than once daily? Learn more Nexium details here.

I wouldn't even consider getting off of Nexium. I hadn't heard the stomach thing. Are you sure that's true? Gerd can cause esophageal cancer so don't know which is worse. I have esophageal spasms and the pain mimmicks a heart attack. Ended up in the ER twice thinking I was surely dying. I don't think I would get off ## What is the stomach thing you are talking about. I just started taking Nexium. I have terrible chest pains. I have gastritis, esophagitis, and inflammation in the duodemun. Will Nexium get rid of all of this. Thank you, Patty ## I have the same same diagnosisies: Nexium did not work for me--caused the gas to move quickly to my bowels. I am using Georg's Aloe Vera, Probiotics (not enough I guess). I am on Cymgen and Nexium, and experience extreme tiredness and sleepiness ........... any comments? ## Are you aware of the side effects associated with each medication? Esomeprazole (Nexium) lists "excessive tiredness" as a serious side effect that should be addressed by your doctor as soon as possible. Cymgen (Generic Cymbalta) also listed "tired feeling" and "drowsiness" as common side effects. It's difficult to say which medication is doing it more than the other (if not equally), but none the less, I'd recommend contacting your doctor to get a better evaluation of what's going on and how you should effectively handle it. It may be that you need to change medications to something less harsh on your system. I hope this helps! ## Thank you David, i...

I now am taking nexium 45 minutes before my first meal of the day. At the next meal I take a calcium/vit D/magnesium supplement. When can I take meloxican for inflammation in my sacroiliac joint and so that mobic will not interfere with the benefits of the supplement and nexium. ## Hello, My research states that Meloxicam can be administered without regard to timing of meals or accompanying administration of antacids. I'm not quite sure if this would work the same when it comes to vitamins- but I believe you would be ok to take the Meloxicam about 30 min- 1 hour after you take the vitamins. If you experience any changes in the effectiveness of your vitamins while taking the Meloxicam, it would be a good idea to contact your physician. You can learn more about this drug on the page f...

One important thing no one talks about is how nexium works on the sluggish bowel. Without the nexium and especially if you are taking other constipating medications, nexium helps to keep the bowel moving. I have evidence, as I have not had nexium for 2 months or more and I am in the most terrible pain. My prescription drug company will not approve my nexium and insists that omeprazole is the preferred choice. Who are they? Have they ever used the medicine? ## I'm very sorry about the problems that Ann had. And to add some information for anyone else seeking…. Nexium contains Esomeprazole, so it and the Omeprazole are both proton pump inhibitors and will work in the body in the same manner. I've been on nexium fro 2 years. I wanted to know if Sensa would interact with this presciption? ## Hi ShayShay, Seeing as Sensa isn't a medication, it shouldn't have any reactions with Nexium. It's only 1/2 a pill, which is making this search near impossible, but it has either a m or w on one side and RUM on the other. And what is the approximate size? ## posibile to be Nextium... for stomach accidity problems ## RUM appears at the end of the pill and it is a fairly large pill. The inside appears to be tan w brown and white speckles like a vitamin. ## the 'rum' appears as an ending. ## definitely not a nexium.

However, without any markings on the tablet, I can't really tell you anything about it. What I can tell you is that on the U.S. market, this medication is only available as a capsule or injectable formulation, so you may want to contact the pharmacy and double check what they sent you.
