I really can't tell if Provigil helps me or not. I take it to help me stay awake due to tiredness associated with MS. Does anyone else take this and do you feel like it really helps you? ## He Debbi: For me it really does make a difference. I type at work and kept getting tired spells and falling asleep at the computer. I would fall asleep, start dreaming and wake up and this would go on repeatedly and I had to recheck my work so much that I was not getting enough done. Provigil has really helped in that department. I rarely have that problem. I have been off the Provigil a couple of times and take 1/2 a caffeine pill (even though I'm drinking coffee, doesn't help) but when I do this I have to wait for the pill to work, where as if I take Provigil it works as a preventive ag...

Does anyone know of a Doctor or Soecialist that will prescribe provigil in the NY area? I’ve been on it before and adderall off and on for over ten years. I don’t know who to ask? Also if you know anyone that also writes scripts for phentermine (adipex) that would help with the 30lbs I gained from being on prednisone for a year Thanks!

I have a lot of Provigil left from 9 years ago... It was prescribed for the fatigue & sleepiness of fibromyalgia. Is it likely to be still effective after 9 yrs? Is it too old to take? ## You can learn a lot of medication expiration dates on this FDA page. Generally, medications start to lose efficacy once expired, due to exposure to the substances that cause degradation, such as heat, light, and moisture. Thus, after 9 years, they are most likely no longer effective and it would be best to dispose of them properly. Is there anything else I can help with?

Looking for the cost of this drug and is covered under your drug card plan. ## My insurance is ignoring my doctors prescribing pro vigil then modafinil (generic) for 1 in am and 1 at afternoon if needed! I had 2 refills for 2 months, and only refilled for 30 pills, instead of 60 as prescribed! I asked pharmacy how much the 30 pills they denied me would cost if I would pay since I had a month before I had an appointment with my psychiatrist. I was told it would be $875.00 for those would cost me out of pocket! I was shocked, because these helped me for the last 2 years! I am 80 yrs. old! An addiction built up in me at a prescribed dose of 500Mg, My body developed a need for more than this 500mg at this point. lots of ups and downs. can barely function or work. I need it cause otherwise I will fall asleep driving during the daytime, and staying awake in general during the day. i have Obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia. Nuvigil (armodafinil) saved my life. I've had treatment resistant major depression for over 20 years. Tried so many anti-depressants - most don't help, or only work temporarily. Side effects of others are intolerable. Numerous rounds of ECT haven't fixed the problem. I even tried TMS, which is not covered by insurance - didn't work. A year ago my doctor prescribed Nuvigil and it's given me my life back. Not enough hours in the day to do all the things I actually enjoy. Also able to feel contentment and peace of mind. Unfortunately, I've had to continuously increase the amount to keep it working and now I'm at a very high dose and my doctor won't let me go any higher. Does anyone else suffer from Nuvigil addiction? I suffer from depression and my Dr put me on this in 2012. I was fine and didn't abuse it for several years, but for the past 2 years I have. It is a schedule IV drug and most people have never heard of addiction to it. Ive been working over night for a year now and I am in serious need of nuvigil or provigil. I am having trouble getting a hold of this medication. My doctor said he didnt believe in the drug so I no longer see him cuz I have a prroblem and he wouldnt help it. What type of physician should I talk to that knows about this stuff cuz mydoctor had no clue what he was talking about. ## Armodafinil is used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by narcolepsy (a condition that causes excessive daytime sleepiness). Based on the description of this medication, I can see why your doctor doesn't believe in it. I have been put on the generic nuvigil (armodaginil) 200 mg. I had started a new medicine about the same time and was having side affects of lipitor. I had swelling, sore joints, headaches, just felt awful. I went off lipitoror right away and about 3 weeks later I still feel awful. Has anybody that got put on the generic nuvigil have problems waking up or functioning at all. I'm very forgetful and just want to sleep all day. Doctors/pharmacy said Iit is exactly the same. My doctor prescribed Provigil about 2 years ago then after my sleep study he put me on Nuvigil and wearing CPAP at night. In the past 6 months I have had problems with daytime sleepiness. Had another sleep study and blood work and found that testosterone level was 208. 3 months of testoterone injections and now I still have to take three 250mg nuvugil to make it through the day. I have degenerative arthritis throughout my body. Latest MRI, yesterday. I've had four spinal fusion surgeries starting at the bottom of my spine. I'm scheduled for neck injection next week. I'm 69 years old and my only income is Social Security. I stay so very tired/exhausted all the time with no idea what to do. My pain clinic doctor gave me a prescription for Nuvigi, but my insurance denied it, and my doc said they would also deny Provigil.
