Ive been on multaq a number of months now and it has been working well. Today my cardiologist told me I should stop it because of increased risk of liver damage. Now this is after he originally told me there were no , whatsoever none side effects form this drug. Having had recent colon surgery and recovering from that I don't want to upset the apple cart at this point but in my my next 3 month appt I may stop it. He said I may go into a-fib again. Im a little depressed and getting a liver function test. Any comments? ## My cardiologist said the problem occurred with just two middle aged women, and if it is working, I should not change my medicine (as a middle-aged man). ## Well, my first comment is that you should never believe anyone, even a doctor, that tells you that a medication...

I just started taking Multaq and was told to stop taking Ranexa why? What happens when you take both ? The Ranexa was working very well now i have to stop. I would rather not stop taking Ranexa ## It is actually very dangerous to take them both at the same time, it can severely increase the levels of the Ranolozine that your body absorbs and retains, which has the potential to cause QT prolongation and cardiac arrhythmia. Why does your doctor want you to switch if the one you were on was working fine? ## Can I take ranexa and Tylenol Together

I have been on Multaq for 5 months. Besides the extreme hair loss, I was just diagnosed with gastroparisis. Since the stomach has an electrical system like the heart, I am wondering if the Multaq is slowing down the stomach causing the gastroparisis. Has anyone else had this problem with Multaq ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? No, they really aren't that similar and the FDA doesn't list gastroparesis in the detailed side effect profile. They typically include symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, headache, cough and heart burn. Are you on any other medications? Have you changed your diet, recently?

After breaking out with hives every time I am exposed to sun, I now believe It is the multac. I could not take amariderone after sun exhaustion and I would like to know a safe drug to take for SVT. I am not a candidate for ablation because it is in too many places. ## Hello, Tiger! How are you? Yes, it could make you more sensitive to the effects of the sun, but most medications do. Rather than trying to hunt one that doesn't, it would be best to avoid the sun, or use a good sunblock, when you go out in it. Your prior reaction of heat exhaustion likely has made you much more sensitive to, so combining that with a medication is a double whammy, so to speak. Have you talked to your prescriber? They may know a good sunblock you can use to prevent the hives.

I have been on multaq for over 2 years and no more afib. I would like to wean myself off by reducing the dowager 50%. Will this work? Thanks Bill ## Hi, Bill! How are you? I'd suggest not reducing the dosage, until you consult with your doctor. If you do it too rapidly, it could cause a rebound effect, which may cause you to go into dangerous a-fib worse than that which you started taking it to treat. Reductions are best done very slowly and under the guidance and supervision of your physician. Learn more Multaq details here. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Multac for 3 yrs now. They put me on it after an ablation and I've only had one episode since and it went back into normal rythym just as the er doc was getting ready to hook me up to an IV. I've only had a total of 4 episodes in 4 years. But my heart rate jumps to 200+ when I do. My Dr was going to take me off of it but then I had that last episode and he has kept me on it. I want to go off and would like to know what might happen if I do stop after taking it for so long. I am a 60 yr old female with no other heart problems. I have experienced fatigue, hair loss and weight gain since being on Multaq, but that might also be age related??? I really would like to see how I do without it, but I or maybe no one knows the effects if stopping after being on it for so lo...

prescription cost for 30 day supply ## HOW MUCH IS THE COST FOR 30 DAYS TREATMENT? ## @SYLVIA PETRIDOU, Based on my research, it costs $9 a day for Multaq or $4.50 a pill. However, the prices may differ between pharmacies and depending on your insurance provider. I also came by a med saver card that could possibly save you up to 80%. Just google Multaq coupons. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Multaq Details Is there anything else I can help you with?

My wife experienced alarming bradycardia (heart rate <50 bpm), weakness and dyspnea after only 5 doses of Multaq. She has been a long time user of the antidepressant Nardil. International package inserts (PI) disclose inhibition by MAOI's of Multaq's metabolic clearance. Regrettably the US PI does not disclose this potential for drug interaction. I have urged both Sanofi and the US FDA to correct this omission of useful information. ## In response to your request for more information: Heart rate returned to the normal range (~75 bpm) within 5 days of discontinuing Multaq. We are in Scotch Plains NJ ## So, she's doing better now? II certainly hope she is and yes, if this is an issue then it is something that they definitely should warn about in the drug monograph. Everyone should research this drug for all the interaction it has with others. My husband was put on it, because he had an afib attack and was put in the hospital. At the time, my brother had just died, unexpectedly, and we were all very stressed. When he was admitted to the hospital, he was also found to have a strep infection. Evidently he had the infction for a long time. I told the Dr's and everyone, that I thought the attack was brought on by the infection and stress. The totally dismissed everything I said. So, we were sent to a cardiac Dr. and he did some test and put him on Multaq. Nothing was discussed about the side affect or drug interactions. I started my own research. There are 800 drug interaction with this medication. It appears that almost every one has an interaction...

Have been taking Multaq for six months now . It has not stopped my afib, but has kept it at a rate that I can deal with. My pulse does not get as high as it has in the past, sending me to the hospital .The episodes have not lasted as long as before the Multaq.! I also was taking Xarelto. Did not tolerate Pradaxa. Now after the second time on Zarelto I have again had blood in urine. After stopping the Zarelto , the blood in urine has ceased. ## The Xarelto contains the active ingredient Rivaroxaban, which is an anticoagulant that helps prevent blood clotting, so it does increase the risk of bleeding. Learn more Xarelto details here. So, that's likely why you had blood in your urine. It may just not be the right medication for you, since it could be that it's causing your blood to...

I have been on Multaq 2x daily for just over 2 years and was wondering if anyone has had an adverse effect to sun tanning naturally or in the booths? I have not tried the booths while on this med and was contemplating using one before we left on a vacation- anyone have issues? If so, what where the side effects? Thanks ## Many medications can make you much more sensitive than usual to the effects of the sun and heat, that also includes tanning beds. You may burn much easier than usual and you may develop heat stroke or become dehydrated much faster than usual. Learn more Multaq details here. The final decision on doing so is up to you, but if you are going to, then you need to be very careful. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Multaq for 2 years, I have gained 23 lbs., I want to stop taking it, doesn't anyone know if the weight will come off if I stop taking it? ## If the weight gain was solely caused by the Multaq then yes, you will most likely lose the weight once you stop taking it. However, if the weight gain was just due to natural aging, being sedentary, a bad diet or etc. then there will likely not be any change, unless the situation is changed and, unfortunately, aging is something we can't change. Do you eat healthy and get proper exercise? Learn more Multaq details here. And before you stop taking it, it is vital that you talk to your doctor, because stopping abruptly could result in rebound effects that may be dangerous. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Yes, I do...

I have been on Multaq and have not had severe side effects from...occasionally I get a itchy rash on the sides of my torso which eventually go away..I think its seasonal..My main concern is if anyone is losing alot of their hair...my hair salon says iam shedding alot and I can see it too when I wash and brush my hair, Might be hormonal going to have it checked out but just thought I would ask if this was also a side effect.. ## Multaq contains the active ingredient Dronedarone, it is used to treat conditions that cause irregular heartbeat. While hair loss is not listed as a regular side effect, there are actually many reports from women using the medication that they have experienced it, generally starting between 1 to 6 months, after they have started taking it. stomach upset with chronic diaherea anyone else have this problem with multaq ## These can be common side effects of Multaq, which contains the active ingredient Dronedarone and is used to treat irregular heartbeat. However, they should start to taper off as your body adjusts to the medication, which can usually take about 4 to 6 weeks. How severe is it? Have you consulted your doctor? If it is very severe, then talking to your doctor is the best thing you can do, because it may not be the right medication for you. There is also a chance they may be able to help you find something you can use to lessen their severity, while you get used to the medication. ## I had a couple of problems when I started taking Multaq. The worst being anxiety. I have never had anxiety before, and didn't ...

needing free or large discount on multaq. I have over $1000 per month in medications. ## There is an assistance program for Multaq, but you must meet the qualifications, such as having no prescription coverage and etc. You can call them for more details at: 1-888-847-4877 Can you post back and let us know if you get any assistance? ## Thanks for the info. Would it be wise to stop taking the multaq after 4 days since the side effects are just too much? Upset stomach ,heartracing, abdominal pain and shortness of breath are just some them. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Those do sound like some pretty bad side effects and that's not a long period of time to be taking, but if you are taking it to treat irregular heartbeat, then you do need to do something to keep that under control, so I wouldn't suggest any chances, until you speak with your doctor. In addition, most side effects will start to taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication, which can take a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Your doctor may also be able to recommend something else that you can use, in the meantime, to lessen their severity.

My spouse has been on multaq for A-Fib for about 16 months. He was previosly on flecainide for many years. About 3 months after Starting multaq, he went into V-Fib,suffered Sudden Cardiac Death. He was brought back witin 3 minutes, spent several days in the artic blanket and and much more time recovering. His doctor insists that there is no evidence to suuggest that multaq has anything to do with this. Does anyone have any info on this? He now is living with a-fib, an implanted defibulater in case he suffers SCD again.
