I had been taken off of Amiodarone because I was drifting towards hyperthyroidism. The EP put me on Multaq which was totally ineffective in keeping my A-Fib under control. After a year of this, and being in and out of A-Fib for all that time, and miserable, he and my cardiologist decided I should resume Amiodarone. It's been about 2 months now since the changeover and I feel great! No A-Fib and, so far, no side effects. If I start to have thyroid issues again, I will have to deal with that or be a candidate for ablation. ## I am glad that the Amiodarone is working well for you, now. Multaq has, unfortunately, proven to be one of those medications that works really well for people, or not at all, it seems. We've had some people get great results from it, but just as many others t...

Until monday, my life for 6 years has been AFIB hell. I was one of the first 400 test subjects and it worked. They cut off my supply at the end of 14 months, and my heart &body was able to function for an extra 9 months, Without meds, I spiralled into walking death, in the interest of FDA policy. 5 zappings without Multaq only fried my chest and back over the 6 year embargo. Finally, the FDA approvoed, and a couple of months later the U.S. VA ordered me a supply of newly remaned MULTAQ. I took it dutifully for almost a year, and then a smart cardio doc at the VA scheduled a new electro-zap. Miracle of miracles...It worked! After six years of very miserable AF, with maybe a THIRD only of normal circulation, I woke up beating textbook NSR. In the intrim my feet had swollen over the ye...

My afib was diagnosed just a few months ago, and because I have two stents, They kept me off Cumadin and let me still take Plavix and aspirin, and put me on Multaq 400 twice a day. Just a few days ago I began to halucinate two three times a day. Can Multaq cause Halucinations? ## Multaq contains the active ingredient Dronedarone and is most commonly used to treat irregular heartbeat. And no, from what I have researched on it, it is not listed as having any mental side effects, however, you should consult your doctor to be certain. Have you contacted your doctor, yet? Hallucinations could be the sign of some serious medical conditions, such as a small stroke, which especially a concern since you are on blood thinners. Anytime you experience such an unusual occurence, you should contact y...

It's been a full week now since I have been on Multaq and since I was converted out of atrial flutter. No problems, except that I have to eat before I take it, which is one of its instructions. ## Very glad to hear that this medication is working for you and helping with your problem! Multaq contains the active ingredient Dronerdarone and is mainly used to treat cardiac arrhythmia. Most medications require you to take them with food, or just before eating, or they will upset your stomach and this one is no exception. Please post back and keep us updated on how you are doing! ## My cardio. Dr. Put me on multag after I had an A Fib episode . I work out daily 2hr ..remember getting a little dehydrated and using the Sunna and over worked on bike...heart rate 160. Did not have any after ...

Can high dossages of Bisoprolol (5mg+0+5mg) may be used with a single dossage of Multaq 400mg (1+0+0)? Is there any sideeffects using these medicines togetherly? I am a patient of HCM (non) with irregular heartbeats age 43ys . Current treatment Concor5mg+0+Concor5mg with Plavix ## Use of the Beta Blocker Bisoprolol, with the Dronedarone in the Multaq could result in increased plasma concentrations of the Bisoprolol, this can result in Bradycardia and also increase the depressant effects of the Dronedarone. Thus, if your doctor is going to have you use them together, your dose should be carefully adjusted and you should be monitored regularly. Are there any comments or questions?

A new drug, Ranolazine, when used with Multaq has been found to enhance the effectiveness of AFIB control. This is news as of 9-27, 2010, according to Gilead lab in northern California. I urge you to read up on this, it seems to be a major break for us. ## I have obtained a PDF of the recent paper filed by Masonic Medical Labs based in Utica NY. The animal heart research is very encouraging, when Multaq is administered along with Ranolazine, causing a clear synergy effect. It seems to work well on the atria, with little effect on the ventricals. Since both are approved for cardiological purposes, informal testing can perhaps be done using low dosage of the Ranolazine to supplement the effect in patients with long exposure to Multaq, for AFIB control. Where cardioconversion has provided ...

I was diagnozed in Feb with a-fib. Started taking Multaq at that time. So far I have refused Coumadin. Have had some minor episodes lasting about 1/2 hour with rates @ 100-150 and increased BP. Will meet with my Cardio Doctor tomorrrow. Is there anybody out there who cna tell me how they aredoing with Multaq and NO coumadin> ## About four months ago I went into total heart block and they implanted a pacemaker. I continued to have severe A-Fib and Atrial flutter. I told my cardiologist that I could not live with the A-Fib and he started me on Multaq, BID. From the get go I couldn't believe how well it worked. Of course, if I didn't have a pacemaker this particular drug probably would not have been prescribed. When I asked about Warfarin, my dr. told me it wasn't necessary...

I developed atrial flutter for the first time 5 days ago. I was shocked 3 days ago and placed on Multaq. I have noticed abdominal cramping which feels like gas, so I started taking anti-gas pills (gas-X). Its much better now. I felt tired the first two days but feel like my old energetic self today. Will keep you posted. ## I am glad to hear that this is working for you, however, make sure you check with your doctor or pharmacist about using the Gax-X as not all medications, even if they are available over the counter, are safe to take with a heart condition and prescription medications. Have you spoken to them, yet? If you'd like more information on Multaq, you can read it here:

any coupons for discount on Multaq? ## I'm sorry, we not prescribe nor sell any products. Have you checked the manufacturer's website? ## Thanks Verwon..best price I can find is $4.32 per pill. Manufacturer has nothing ..same with my cardiologist. ## My doctor gave me a $30 rebate card for my co-pays. It cost me $5 a month, now! I think the company rep gave them to the office. ## My cardiologist gave me three cards that are each good for 3 refills at $30 less than what I normally pay, It usually costs me $76, so the cards do help. 330

Multaq works quite good for me as I actively walk, swim and cycle with little if any consequence. As for the bad I am quite fatigued. House work and laundry often is put on the back burner. I am just finding out about the fatigue caused by the job. ## Multaq contains the active ingredient Dronedarone, it is used to treat Cardiac Arrhythmias. Common side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and drowsiness. You can read more here: There are some other threads that include the experiences of other users: IS there anything I can help you with? ## Hmmm...It seems I made an error in my initial statement I am just finding out about the fatigue caused by the job. It should read ...caused by this drug.

Long story.......Twenty five years ago I had my first atrial myxoma. It was removed and one wall of my heart was also removed and 'patched' At that time, I guess by what they knew then, I was cured. Fifteen years later I started having atrial flutter, broke through all meds including some not approved at the time......a year in and out of the hospital, stopping heart, starting heart trying to restore normal rhythm. This was caused by scar tissue. An ablation was needed, but in prepping for that, another myxoma was found. Surgery and myxoma/patch repeated. During surgery a maize was also cut to try and stop the flutter. Before I was out of the hospital the flutter returned. Two months later I had an ablation. Now a lot of scar tissue and concern for returned flutter etc. All'...

I have been on Multaq for 6 months since I had an ablation in January. The fatigue, skin rash an itching have hit me full force. After an appointment with my cardioligyst he recommended blood tests which indicated anemia. There is now an appointment with a hematoligist to check for Myelodysplastic syndrome. Could ther be a connection between the two? ## It is not known to be associated with it, nor is in the warnings about the medication. We are also not medical professionals, so we can't possibly guess at whether or not there is a connection. Have you tried talking to your doctor or pharmacist about this concern?

Folks, like everyone else who has started MULTAQ, I am having second thoughts about it's effectiveness. When I first started, my length of AFIb attacks and feeling uncomfortable lessen some in intensity, now I seem to be more fatiqued, PAC's have increased and I have days of being in a funky mood and feeling frustrated with my lack of energy. I also take 180mg of Cardizen, 25mg of Atenol and 400 mg of MAG-OX twice per day. Now, I am not totally against this new med. There are times I am concerned with the long term side effects such as heart failure and etc. How is everyone else doing out here taking this med? ## Yes, you are just like a lot of others that have been trying. There are some getting good results, but many are having doubts and that is on top of the possible long-te...

Hi, I'm 38, had one ablation two years ago, helped for a while but have had increasingly frequent episodes of a-fib this year. My EP put me on Multaq almost a week ago (in addition to the 360 of diltiazem I was already taking. I also take coumadin). Is anybody else freaked out by the package warning about heart failure?! I have severe shortness of breath at times when attempting normal activities during a-fib, and sometimes have to prop myself up in the night because of chest discomfort. Is that heart failure, or just a symptom of a-fib? Also, how in the world does anybody pay for this stuff? I have about 3 weeks' free trials from the doc--am only supposed to be on it till my next ablation attempt, but that's scheduled for late July, 2 1/2 months from now. Thanks, and good l...

I'm just starting my Multaq prescription today. I've had A-fib for 11 years, which has largely been controlled by Flecainide and Atenolol, after undergoing an ablation in 2001. During the last year or so, I've had more, longer-lasting episodes of arrhythmia, often lasting 12 hours or longer. My cardiologist recommends that I not continue the Flecainide much longer because in the long run it can cause heart problems, including new arrhythmias. I awoke this morning in AF, and am waiting to see if the new med will work for me (no change yet, after 4 hours). I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my left atrial appendage last June, which has put my planned cryoablation on hold indefinitely. If the clot should break loose during the procedure, it would go into my brain, says my dr....
