Methadone Clinic And Drug Testing (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I just started going to the methadone clinic about 4 weeks ago. I used to be a very heavy drug user, Heroin and pills were my life. When I took my initial drug test at the clinic I asked them if my marijuana levels were really high, and they told me they don't test for marijuana. I live in Texas. Does anyone know what kind of drug test they are using and exactly what they test for? I thought on all standard drug tests, they test for THC. Also I mistakenly took a 1mg football mistaking it for an aleve. In highschool i used to put them in aleve bottles. My mom just moved and the bottle was up in the medicine cabinet in the new house. OOPS. When I started feeling extremely relaxed, it clicked at what I had just ingested. This was 10 days ago today. The clinic tested me this morning. I'm not very familiar with this drug test and what exactly they are looking for. I used to work in a treatment center (before relapsing) and the addictionologist told me that klonopin can be detected for up to 2 weeks, but it has a MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT longer half life than xanax. I'm just looking for some people's feedback that are familiar with the clinic and the drug testing there. I AM VERY AWAY THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO MIX BENZOS WITH METHADONE. It has taken several of my friend's lives. No one has to tell me that, I have experienced it first hand. It was an honest mistake but if I come up positive, there is NO WAY my counselor will believe that. What do drug addicts do... con and lie to people. I'd appreciate any feedback people can give me.

Thank you for reading. I need your help. My husband has been in the methadone clinic for approximately three months. His drug of choice was heroin and pills. He started out at the methadone clinic at 40 mg and then went up to 60. He has since told me that he's now gone down to 55 because he keeps being tired. I've sat and watch them and about 8 and also during the day his eyes get extremely swollen and it's like he starts to nod like he's falling asleep and then his mouth goes downward like he's on drugs is what it looks like, but he swears up and down that it's the methadone. His counselor outside of the methadone clinic tells him that he needs to stay where he is and not try to come off of it. He's falling asleep almost when he's driving and it gets very scary. From what he tells me, he has take-homes on the weekends right now and that they drug test him every week. I have this feeling that he is taking something out and I don't know for sure if he's telling me the truth about take-homes and also if he's telling me the truth about his testing. So if there's anyone who's reading this who has been through this and can tell me how often do they really test and if you really think that he's on something just because he's still constantly is looking like he is on something and people are starting to ask me now, I would really appreciate it. From what I see on your post you should not have any problem. I live in Texas also and at the Methadone Clinic I used there was not much of a problem with being dirty anyway. They didnt even require you be dirty with a opiate to get in the clinic. To my knowledge benzos only stay in your system about 72 hours.....I know that first hand. There was not a real problem with being dirty. Most attending a Methadone clinic are usually dirty from time to time anyway. Good Luck

I am on mmt and I went to the er and got a script for Percocet but I've also done a little dope. I got dropped today. Is it just gonna show up as opiates which I can account for or is heroin gonna show up too??

Xanax has a half life of 12-15 hrs.. Whereas Klonopin has a half life of anywhere from 18-50hrs...

Having just weed in your system does not allow one to begin methadone therapy!!! Methadone is for opiates not pot! Haha

Jose what's up?Hey I went through the same thing as u...I couldn't pee in front of people....they also took my 6 bottles..I was passed too...the counselor or the director don't care...they just see us as drug addicts that con & lie....plus we are just money to them they don't care about our recovery. Trust me I know...I've been at this clinic for methadone 4 years....they treat everyone like we are just addicts....so hey u know what I'm doing now...since I also have shy bladder syndrome. I hold my urine every morning just before I go to get medicated every morning just in case if they want a urine....I'm doing that bc I'm tired of being there for almost 2 hours to be able to pee....they act like we don't have no life...u know I'm just sick of it...& I'm also trying to find a comfortable way of detoxing off of methadone

What is the "punishment" if you test positive for drugs - like a different opiate- at Methadone clinic? I slipped a little this weekend and am a nervous wreck! Please advise. Also, any suggestions for cleaning it out in case they test me tomorrow?

Totally agree! Y would u want to take a drug that gives u withdrawal?! The addicts I know are educated on this stuff but I guess some people just aren't?

I have had my weekly take homes for 5 years. I have been on 2 medications the entire time, Topamax and Wellbutrin, neither of them are a controlled substance and have ever showed up in my monthly U/As . All of my counselors have been aware of theses medications, and the nurses were shown the scripts and I was told I did not need to bring the script in monthly because they were not controlled substances. So, I get a new counselor, we verbally go over my meds, she I reading it from my chart, 2 months later she requests that my U/A go to a different Lab that does a in depth test. I was not told that any medication I was on controlled substance or not would appear. Well the WELLBUTRIN showed up, not the Topamax, which does not make since, but never the less my take homes were revoked for WELLBUTRIN, a med that every counselor has known about and It has never appeared on any test before, and it is not a controlled substance.

To be honest, that price is far cheaper than if you were using again. I understand, as my clinic charges $65 per week. It was hard to pay, but somehow having fed a very high heroin habit, it was super cheap. Check into programs, as many will pay. Now my insurance does as the state I live in made changes. As far penalizing you for something like that, it's bulls***. After 2 or 3 dirties at my clinic, they just drop you 10mg till your next drop a month later to see if that's clean - which really sucks, honestly I'd rather pay! I hate being sick. Guess either way is the price we pay, though not really fair depending on the circumstances, but I don't think they view us as individuals. I just try to view it as it beats sticking a needle in my arm.

He may very well be on to high of a dose. And is prolly falling asleep in the bathroom. I know this because I do it myself. Talk to him about seeing if he would lower his dose some. Chances are he will say no but he might.

Hey D, I also had a false positive happen to me. I tested for cocaine when I had never even used it before. I was taking methadone for back pain and not an addiction so when it happened I was shocked as u can imagine. The doctor dismissed it and said he was as surprised as I was. The only thing I can come up with is that the urine bottle was reusable and it hadn't been cleaned properly. If u were testing clean and this was out of character for u, then ur doctor should have dismissed it.

If you clean your teeth after you take your methadone you can keep your teeth.for me methadone has saved my life and is way way way better and safer than the alternative.I am a contributing member of society.and I take go to the clinic.

Well I've been going to a clinic for 10yrs and oddly enough they don't test for marijuana but as far as I know they check for methamphetamine, amphetamine, benzos, methadone (of course), opiates, cocaine, heroin. As far as I know I think that's it. I live in Texas as well but different clinics do different tests so I'm not sure exactly what your clinic runs on their test. Also most methadone clinics are in my eyes really in it for the money or that's the way mine makes me feel!! Oh and as for the one milligram Xanax that you accidentally took, I'm pretty sure it's out of your system by now but if you just started going to a methadone clinic they will expect you to relapse or expect to find funny drugs in your system from time to time but try your best to avoid that as necessary! And if you have a prescription for something as long as you give them the bottle whenever you get the prescription filled so they can see how many pills and all that jazz then you are allowed to take it no matter if it's narcotic or not but of course they don't want you taking anything that is opiate ! For example I am prescribed 1 milligram Xanax 3 times a day, but before I was prescribed I failed several drug tests for benzos throughout the 10 years of me going to this Clinic. normally they would just give me a slap on the wrist and after a few times they would punish me by dropping my level (not giving me as much take out and making me come in more often). I am over the addiction part of my journey so now the only reason I still partake in methadone is for pain management reasons. now I'm trying to find a doctor so I can get away from the methadone clinic but that's another story! Anyways my advice to you is to stay as low of milligrams as possible. I was only addicted to painkillers when I started methadone but I was taking very very large amounts and I never did heroin so I managed to stay on a pretty low milligram. I believe I started and comfortably got through my opiate addiction at 60 milligrams and over the years I blamed myself down to 40 where I've hit a wall because of my pain management issues. and as far as pain management, methadone has meant the world to me and giving me a quality of life that I was unable to achieve through hydrocodone. infamy the methadone goes straight to the pain, there's no euphoria and I don't get messed up, and I have a child now so that means the world to me. so finding a drug that will follow the same guidelines is a quest I'm on before I leave the methadone clinic. Anyway sorry this is supposed to be about you not me but I suggest staying under 90 milligrams unless you're just dying of discomfort and if possible get through your withdrawal with the methadone and then get off it as quick as possible. if it wasn't for my extenuating circumstances I would have gotten off immediately after I got over my opiate withdrawals because I warn you the longer you wait the harder it is to get off of methadone. I have a friend who has done it and he said it's probably just as bad as withdrawing from heroin!!! So I hope what I've said may help you in the long run. I think clinics use a 10 panel which tests for the 1st 5 is whats tested for in the 5 panel then including those and the rest of the listed drugs make up the 10 panel (5 PANEL: Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Opiate) + Benzo's, Barbiturates, Oxycodone, Methadone, Phencyclidine. Because I know they have to use a test that shows that you are taking the methadone and not selling it or something but I find it funny, in TX anyways, tell you they don't test for Marijuana when the tests their using obviously do but whatever lol it seems like one of those don't ask don't tell situations!!! So I know if you do your research on urine based drug tests it seem like 5 panel test don't tell them what they need to know and 10 panel includes Methadone and some drugs that r dangerous mixed with Methadone and the rest that are in that 10panel and your testing positive ti can help them rate the severity of your addiction. I've been going to a Tx Methadone clinic almost 10 years so this comes from questions I asked the clinic, research, and observation i gathered over the years. I'm I plan to leave the clinic but I have to find a pain management doctor and a back doc to help me with my pain probs cuz right now that's all this Methadone is doing for me the addiction part is well under control now im just looking for the correct Dr.'s to help fix my back problems after the several surgeries that landed me in this situation!!! Sorry for the added glimpse into my life lol but I hope my drug testing knowledge will give u some insight!!!!

Why would you "tell everyone"? And if u had half a brain, you would get that no one will beleive you without proof. Booze leaves your system an hour an oz. try this, follow the rules of the clinic. Did u go to get clean or to just not get sick?
