What is the difference between: Metanx Caps 2.5 - 20 - 1 MG Metanx Tablets 2 - 3- 35 MG ## Hi Sylvia, According to the manufacturer's webpage, each Metanx capsule contains 3mgs of Calcium + 35mgs of Vitamin B6 + 2mgs of Vitamin B12. The only difference I'm seeing with those numbers in your description, is that they can pertain to different dosages of these three ingredients. I hope this helps to clear things up!

There are other products with the same nutrients in them, but they are not formulated the same way and aren't approved for the same conditions that Metanx is approved to help with. Are there any other questions I can help with?

have deveoped dime size leisons on my legs and back that crust over and disappear; then reappear. never thad this before taking Metanx. ## Metanx is actually just a nutritional supplement that's specially formulated into a proprietary blend to help with nerve pain and damage. It's mainly used by diabetics that suffer neuropathy, or to help prevent it from occurring. You can learn more Metanx details here. Have you consulted your doctor? It sounds like you may have something else going on. It could be something related to circulation or perhaps there is too much of a certain nutrient for you in the Metanx, but only your doctor is going to be able to get to the root of the problem. Do they hurt? Do they burn or bleed? Are there any other symptoms?

the mentanx folks are a bunch of bastards charging too high of prices. ## Hi Wyatt, Lots of medications these days are quite expensive which is why I usually opt for natural homeopathic remedies and suggest that everyone does their best to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables; which can be a lot more effective at healing than conventional medication. Nonetheless, when you're in a bind you can find discount cards for medication online. For Mentanx, just google "Mentanx discount coupon" and you should see a couple options pop up. Here's a link to the one that this site offers: RX Discount Card You can learn more about this drug on the page for Metanx Details I hope this helps!

i am a type 2 diabetic and I also have MS. My doctor prescribed metanx but it is too exspensive so is there an alternative. ## Go to swansonvitamins.com Folate $4.99, methylcobalamin sublingual $9.99 two month supply, P-5-P b6 around $6 about a 2 month supply. You need the b's in this active form and a bottle of TMG helps convert it over for $4.49. You should consider getting tested for MTHFR which metanx is used to treat. It has a huge connection to MS. I no longer have the lesions after an MTHFR protocol. Check out mthfr.net and mthfrsupport.com These forms of b's help break down homocysteine in the body. Many people on oral diabetic medication that have neuropathy have MTHFR. Drugs such as metaformin reduce active b's in people and with MTHFR you are already working on po...

My husband has been on metanx for 4-5yrs,it has helped with neuropathy in feet, has any one experienced severe pain and swelling in hands as a possible side effect of too much B-6,long term use of mentanx ? ## Hi Karen, Does your husband work on the computer frequently? This is a common cause for pain and swelling in the hands, so I thought I'd ask. Interestingly enough though, I just checked the side effects of Metanx and common side effects include: Drowsiness; feeling of swelling of the entire body; mild diarrhea; numbness or tingling. That said, it could in-fact be that Metanx is causing those complications. Has he sought out any treatment options or decreased his use of the medication?

Does Metnax cause dry mouth and buring tongue irratition? Been taking two tabs per day for about 5 months and the last two mouths my mouth is dry and tongue always irritated. ## Metanx is a B complex nutritional supplement that's specially formulated to help with conditions such as neuropathy. However, as such, it's really not tested for side effects, as is done with actual prescription medications and it's always difficult to say how it may affect any given person that takes it. Have you discussed these symptoms with your doctor?

I am experiencing unexplained bruising on my upper arm and inner thigh. I told my doctor about, but she said Megan's wouldn't cause and that it's a good med w good vitamins. I didn't tell her I also take B6 every but have seen on line that I could be taking too many vitamins. I've stopped taking the Metanx to see if the bruising stops. ## You should call your doctor and tell her that fact. Yes, there can be severe problems that arise if you are taking too much of anything, even vitamins and the B vitamins can be especially problematic. Even if the bruising stops, you may have done some permanent damage, that you should be tested for. Did she check your vitamin levels with a blood test?

However, one that you may want to ask your doctor about trying is Gabapentin, it's an anticonvulsant that can also be used to treat certain types of nerve pain. Has your doctor suggested anything else?
