Yes! Your doctor should be understanding since what happened was a crime towards you and robbed, you will have to show the doctor ur report I'm pretty sure n doctor will usually give one replacement (refill) your script, Its happened to me same script, amd my doctor ask for proof then said okay one time chance I get, some doctors are not good about it! But you can get seriously sick or worse so your doctor should help, I hope it all works out for you!next time you may want to take your script home so its safe then go out. Be careful N'Good luck!

I agree with post #1 in that the doctor "should" be understanding of the situation and write a new script. And I don't mean to be a bearer of uncertainty, but other patients have also come on this site reporting similar situations, at which point they noted that their doctor still refused to write them a new prescription, despite having a police report on hand. That said, I think every doctor is going to be different when it comes to deciding whether or not they are willing to help. The only reason I write this is so that not everyone gets their hopes up. But as Tawny suggested, please be careful out there and good luck on getting your doctor to show a little compassion. Sometimes it's easier said than done and the doctor may be hesitant to write a new prescription based on other underlying factors that would have the DEA questioning them, as illogical as it sounds (i.e. something like writing too many prescriptions within an allotted period of time, etc). All I know is that many doctors are scared of loosing their licenses for actually helping patients in such a manner and it makes them reluctant to prescribe anything outside of the norm, so to speak. Just wanted to give a heads up in case you encounter that type of doctor and don't want to be caught off guard with their response.

Hope this helps!

To cottonball
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but most prescribers are so fearful of losing there DEA LICENSE they will do anything to pass the buck.most will attempt the " Go to your emergency.room " that they may or may not have attending privilege's at to avoid having to deal directly with your situation. We see this at least on a weekly basis and we are a smaller n.j. shore area but prescription Rx abuse is so rampant we are usually the last line of defense. I hope your doc is the exception and is compassionate and understanding, just be prepared for the pass the buck b.s. all to common best of luck to you

It sucks that happened but the Dr will not rewrite those meds for you. It states in the contract you signed that they will not replace lost or stolen meds. The way they figure is anyone can make a police report and that doesn't make it true. The pillbillies have used every trick under the sun and ruined it.
