How long does it take for a low dose of lisinopril to start lowering blood pressure? ## According to drug information from Gold Standard Inc. 2011, Lisinopril starts working within an hour of taking it by mouth. The peak effect occurs at 6 hours after taking the pill. Other patients state that it should make a difference to your blood pressure in about 2 days time, based on their personal experience. Although I'm sure it may be somewhat different for everyone. I hope this helps to answer your question! ## I was told by an ER Doc and a my blood doctor that I could take lisinopril on an as needed basis have you ever known of this. My blood pressure gets high while menstruating and a few days after but the rest of the time my bp is normal ## I take lisinopril and amlodiprine for blood ...

My renewed generic prescription Lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide 10-12.5 is now coming from a different manufacturer (pharmacist verified) than my original (pinkish pill) from Aurobindo. The new blue pill, manufactured by Westward, is not the same in effects. Does anyone know what pharmacies (Target and Walmart don't carry it) carry the same medication but manufactured by Aurobindo? Thank you ## Maybe my question should be when generic prescriptions switch manufacturers, are the ingredients EXACTLY the same? If so, why is a medication I have taken successfully for 4 years with no side effects suddenly begin to make me ffell lethargic and starting hair loss within 3 weeks of starting the same "everything" but from a different manufacturer? Has anyone else experienced that maybe...

What is not allowed while taking lisinopril; food, drugs or drinks. ## Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, you should be informed to avoid food or beverage products that contain real licorice or licorice extract, since it can raise blood pressure. The only food/beverage interaction is that you should watch out for items that contain very high levels of potassium. Getting to much potassium, while taking Lisinopril can lead to Hyperkalemia, which can be a dangerous condition. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain. I have been on Lesinopril 20mg for a little over a year now. I just stopped taking it 4 days ago, trying to go natural on keeping my BP down. the first day I just did yoga each day, ate low calorie food as roasted veggies, and drank smoothies. My daily drinks consisted of Pomegranate juice and a spoon apple cider vinegar diluted with a cup of water. My average BP for the last 3 days was 121/78. Today I started having a severe headache, blurry vision and body ache in general. Is this common when you stop Lisinopril? While I do believe that I can keep my BP down naturally I am suspicious of the side effect of getting rid of this pill.. ## Hello, Rich! How are you? Yes, that can happen, if you suddenly stop such a medication, rather than tapering off of it, as reported by the FDA. You may ...

I take lisinopril once a day at 9am. By mistake, I took it last night at about 1 am. Should I miss taking it for the rest of the day? ## What dosage do you take? While it is always best to double check with your doctor, the FDA usually instructs you to skip the next dose, then just resume your normal dosing schedule. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. ## I take losartan 50mg at noon, I notice it takes at least 6 hrs. before I get a good reading. If I cut the tablet in half and took both halves, would it maybe kick in a bit faster. Seems to have a coating on the pill. ## I'm taking lisinopril 10mg during the day and my readings are perfect, but after 4 or 5 my blood pressure goes up to 150/90 or...

I have taken amlodipine and lisinopril for a few years. I recently got a staff infection and my Dr prescribed bactrim. I have heard not to take bactrim with lisinopril. Is this true? ## Hello Sally, You are absolutely right! Lisinopril has been reported to have a negative interraction with trimethoprim (Bactrim). These medications used together may increase the potassium levels in your blood which in turn can develop into Hyperkalemia. In severe cases this can lead to kidney failure, muscle pralysis, irregular heart rhythm and cardiac arrest. You are more likely to develop hyperkalemia if you are elderly, dehydrated, have a kidney disease, diabetes or if you are receiving Bactrim for long periods of time. Reportedly it is important that you maintain adequate fluid intake during the time...

HAS ANY BODY ELSE HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS? ## Cal, that can be a common side effect of some blood pressure medications, according to FDA reports, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. I experience, sometimes, myself, and it is very annoying. I hate it. I am even on one that causes my scalp to itch, and tingle in the heat. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Has Lisinopril made anyone hungrier or made you gain weight? I am also getting terrible cramps in my legs. I started taking Potassium on my own to stop this pain. Any advice? ## Hello, Madeline! How are you doing? Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, according to FDA warnings, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you informed your medical provider of these issues? There are others you can try, which may not cause you the same problematic side effects. ## Lisinopril caused leg cramps and a cough. It's supposed to be 40 mg lisinopril. ## Hi Chuck, I located a match and I think the reason why you may have had trouble finding information is because the pill is actually depicted as being light green instead of light blue. A round white pill 28th NT on One side and a check Mark on the other side ## Hi Chuck, Does the check mark happen to look anything like a cursive or italicized "V"? I know that Qualitest (formerly Vintage Pharmaceuticals) produces products that carry this type of logo, which is what had me curious about your pill... Also, where did you get it from if you don't mind my asking? A pill's origin (whether it be from the internet, an old pharmacy script, found on the sidewalk, etc) may say a lot about its integrity and how much you can probably trust it to be anything of significance. This leads me to my next thought which if possible would be to have it analyzed by a lab as a last resort, if you felt like someone's safety might've been in jeopardy due to this unknown ...

I've been taking lisinopril 20 mg twice daily for several years, filling it through Walmart Mail-Order whose supplier is Lupin Pharmaceuticals. The pills have always been pink and the same size until my most recent refill, when the size is now half of what it was previously, about the same as the hydroclorothiazide (HCTZ) 25 mg pill I take as well. Although the latter is pale peach in color while the former is pink, both pills are round in shape and the similarity between the two is quite problematic, especially for seniors like myself or anyone with poor vision, particularly when trying to distinguish between them in low light. Apparently pharmaceutical companies are legally allowed to change a pill size without FDC permission and with no requirement to advise customers of the chan...

I take 10 miligram Lupin tables - have been taking them 2x a day for 20 years. Today, I opened the bottle and they were 1/2 the size. Same markings on the pill and container, same color, same manufacturer but 1/2 the size. I asked the pharmacy assistant about it and she said the company was making them smaller but they were the same. I asked how they were doing that - were they removing fillers? Why did they have so many fillers in the first place. She said she didn't know, but would transfer me to the pharmacist. I asked the pharmacist and she sounded like she had been asked what the weather would be like the next day - "oh, I don't know...yeah...I don't really know." I don't feel comfortable taking these. ## Yes, in most cases they have changed the fillers they...

Lisinopril - How old is to old to use this medication? My pills are from 2013. Does the pill increase or decrease in potency with age? ## Medications tend to decrease in efficacy with time, according to FDA reports. Although, it is interesting to note that a nurse practitioner recently told me that the U.S. is the only country that actually requires expiration dates for medications. I don't know if that is true, and overall, before using an expired medication, you should double check with your doctor, or pharmacist.
