How many times do I have to take Solmux? And for how many days do I need to take these capsules? Please advise. Thank you. ## Hi Ellen, Solmux contains the active ingredient Carbocisteine, which is used to help thin the mucous caused by conditions such as allergies and COPD. The dosage and administration guidelines for this medication state the following: For adults and children over age 12, one capsule of Carbocisteine (Solmux) should be taken with food every 8 hours. I couldn't locate information pertaining to the length of time one should be taking this, but I would suggest contacting your local pharmacy about that, since it could depend on how severe the condition is. A friend has taken 20 pills of thyronorm 25mcg out of hysteria.. What might be the repercussions? Please reply urgently. ## If you have reason to fear for the life and health of a loved one, you should contact your nearest emergency services or take them to the nearest emergency department, rather than posting online and waiting for an answer. And overdose of any medication is dangerous and risks death, organ damage and other serious health repercussions. High doses of the Levothyroxine in this creates the risk of seizures, strokes, heart palpitations and extremely high blood pressure. Even if she showed no ill effects, at the time she took them, she needs to see a doctor, because she could have done other damage to her body. How is she doing? ## I take 50mcg thyronorm daily. I was taking .100 of Levothyroxine and my dr. said that it was slightly over corrected...now I am taking .75 and have already gained almost 2 pounds in 5 days. I am really frustrated! My bloodwork says one thing, but my body is reacting differently...any advise? Is there a dose between .100 and .75? ## yes-there is a dose of .50 of levothyroxine. ## Theres isn't a tablet in the exact dose between but a lot of people cut up a second tablet to achieve the desired dose, or alternate their dose every other day. For example you could cut a .25 tablet in half each day and take that along with your 75 you are currently taking so that it brings you to 87.5 daily. ## Weight gain is a normal side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizzi...

Ive been taking levothyroxine sod 0.125 for a long time now and managed to keep a stable weight. However, I am trying to drop more with cardio, weight training and a strict diet. I have been on levothyroxine for 15 years. I skipped a day and felt much better. Can i start taking it every other day? I am on 75mg. ## Hello, Cathy! How are you? When is the last time your levels were checked? Depending on their levels, some people do skip days of this medication, or alternate doses to maintain the ideal levels, however, you should check with your doctor, before doing so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and hair loss. ## Hi thank you for replying. I have had my levels checked Jan 2016. I get them checked every year. It just seems like when I skip a day and do every other day i feel so much better... I called my Dr. and he said as long as my levels stay good i can do that. I'm 33, diagnosed with Hashimoto, started 25 mg of Levo a day - after two weeks of taking it, I was constantly out of breath, felt lightheaded and panicky, would wake up with rapid heat beating and out of breath in the middle of the night. (During those two weeks, my TSH dropped from 4.26 to 3.13, T 3 and T 4 as well - so, clinically, it was going in the right direction, perhaps only too abruptly). They made me wait for a couple of days and reduced my meds to 12.5 mg and last night (after taking the 12.5 mg dosage for only two days!) I was woken up with no breath, heart pounding, it felt like I was dying. I'm scared for my heart. I'm afraid to even go to sleep - the experience of waking up breathless was not pleasant at all. I'm seeing the doctor on Monday. I don't t...

It's been a hypothyroidism nightmare since 1 pembro infusion (a.k.a., 'Keytruda', an immunotherapy drug to treat cancer) killed my husband's thyroid over a period of about 3 months (late September - mid Dec.). No one caught the fact that the 'tipping point' from hyper- to hypo-thyroidism had been reached a few days before Christmas. We ended up in the hospital in Rochester on Dec. 26 for three days, getting treatment for symptoms — excruciating pain/difficulty breathing/rapid heartbeat/edema/swelling — rather than having treatment for the CAUSE of those symptoms, namely hypothyroidism. Consequently, the steroid (dexamethasone) and the other meds (gabapentin) he was given for pain did NOT address the underlying problem, but in fact added to them (incre...

My latest TSH result was 0.426...below the normal to low range. My dosage was changed from 0.075 mg to 0.05 mg. Since my TSH was below normal, the latest dosage seems lower than the 0.075. I'm confused... ## @Dona, 0.05mg is indeed a lower dose than 0.075mg. If your thyroid hormone levels were on the low end, it does seem odd to me that the prescribing doctor would lower your dose; especially since levothyroxine is indicated for treating thyroid hormone deficiency... So I think any patient would feel confused by that decision... Have you discussed this predicament with your doctor yet to see what his/her view point is on the matter? Hopefully they had a good reason without trying to jeopardize your treatment. ## Hi. I am 11 weeks pregnant with hypothyroidism. My TSH is 4.6 so my doc...

I have had low thyroid hormone levels for a long time and may have some hopeful advice to others out there. Read about your disease on the internet and understand how you acquired low thyroid hormones. So, I remained unmedicated until I was sure I couldn't stand it any more - the side effects I mean. I developed many of the symptoms that come with hypothyroidism and they are very difficult. Hi everyone, I am curious if anyone has experienced intermittent vision loss while being on levothyroxine. For about two months now my vision in my left eye will randomly disappear for 2-3 seconds and then slowly dissipate back to normal. I've been through a litany of exams -- retinal, cardiovascular, MRI/MRA -- that are all coming back clear and now we're wondering if it could be the medications I am on. I am also on humalog, lisinopril and Simvastin. Has anyone experienced symptoms like this with levothyroxine? ## Hello, Julia! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Looking over your list of mediations, there is a chance that it might be due to the Simvastatin, according to the FDA, it has been known to cause several vision issues, which usually g...
