I need to know if this medication is an opioid ## Hello, Twiggy! How are you? No, the FDA classifies Lamotrigine as an anticonvulsant that is used to help treat or prevent seizures and for some types of mood disorders. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Do people test for K2? The reason I ask is because while in residential treatment I learned that lamotrigine (lamictal) caused a routine false-positive for it almost immediately. Not sure if this is something that I should be wary about in pre-employment screening going forward. Idk if that stuff is legal or not, but the center I was in went crazy with accusations until I was able to pull facts from the Internet. Are there any false-positives that I should be aware of for topiramate?

I live with my sister and her 5 year old son who is like my own. I have been with him since he was 1. She was seeing a therapist that I will call John. One would listen to her and the other would prescribe the meds. Anyway they all of a sudden put her on 200 MG's of LTD. This was over two years ago. It has been a strange ride since then. I'll try and keep it short but let's just say that we figured out what the problem was. She goes through a viscous cycle every month. She literally stays up for a week and becomes severely depressed the rest of the month. She says she doesn't like the way they make her feel but I don't know what to believe anymore. She is not very honest with me these days. She Is very mean and doesn't seem to really care about anything unless it...

I have been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor 10 years ago, but experienced the related symptoms from 14 years ago. It is not operable due to it's location in the middle of the head slight above the ears and in the right hemisphere. My scans were discussed at international conferences and no one is exactly sure what to call my so-called tumor. I refused to take medicine up to date. However every time I see a Neurologist/ Neurosurgeon they are persistent that I should take epileptic medicine due to the irregular seizure I experience. Now I have agreed to take Lamictin under protest and I would like to know more about the side effects as I still believe I am better of without any medication. ## Hello, Turtle! How are you? The reason they want to take medication to prevent the seizur...

I am currently taking Lamotrigine and I just received two bottles of Apidexin along with a 72-hour Apidexin Cleanse. I am wondering if it is safe for me to take apidexin while I am taking my Lamotrigine? So if someone could help and answer me, that would be great. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? Products like Abidexin, which are available over the counter are not evaluated for possible interactions with prescription medications. However, some of these cleanse products may cause diarrhea, which may interfere with the proper absorption of a medication, so I'd suggest asking your pharmacist, before using it. Is Lamotrigine the only medication you're currently taking?

I started using epitec today. I read all the comments on it and am completely freaked out now. Why does everybody gain so much wait on this stuff???? ## Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine; which actually has weight loss and loss of appetite listed as side effects. I can only assume that people gain weight on it because they don't know how hungry they are, or they may think that they are starving themselves due to the loss of appetite and therefore start binge eating on foods they shouldn't be eating anyways. I would just go off of how "YOU" feel while taking it, because everyone responds differently to these types of medications. I'm sure the vast majority of patients who post something bad about the drug are among only a small percentage of those who ...

I have Bipolar and i have been using Epitec 200 for the last 8Years. I dont understand why you say "weight Gain"? My weight is still the same since 8Years ago (16yrs) and i am sure it has to do with Epitec as it is the only drug i use. The Drug really helps me lift my mood and gives me the confidince i need! but, Does anyone else have this problem with weight being the same? I also feel extremely lazy and dont have the energy to go out and do something. Any advise on something else? ## Various drug articles for Epitec (lamotrigine) actually list "weight loss" (not weight gain) as a potential side effect. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a695007.html#side-effects In any case however, this medication is in a class of drugs called anti-convulsants. So while change...

I am 24 years old, after severe depression/mania/psychosis from age 12-20 I tried many Antidepressants/mood stabilizers/anti psychotics and even ECT(with no effect), I finally got the right balance of 225mg of Venlafaxine in the morning(8am) and 300mg of Lamotrigine at night(8pm). I have been stable with limited mania/depression and no psychotic features for 6 years now. I weighed 97kg when I first started this dose of Venlafaxine and Lamotrigine 6 years ago, however over the last 11months I have slowly lost weight through exercise and healthy eating/portions. I have noticed as this was happening in hindsight I was/am feeling more tired, I find it very hard to wake up in the morning and just generally tired(but not in a depressed way) Also my heart rate during exercising has been pretty...

I have been taking Epitec(for bipolar mood disorder prescribed by Pschyciatrist) together with Altosec(for GERD by a GP)) for the last 8 years. Recently my GP said the Altosec stops the Epitec from being absorbered. Is this why my BMD is not getting better? ## Hello, Ilona! How are you? I didn't find anything listing that there's a problem, if these two medications are taken together, but your doctor could have access to some new information that isn't available to the public, yet. Learn more Epitec details here. Learn more Altosec details here. What type of doctor are you seeing for your Bipolar? Have you tried any other medications to treat it?

My husband has recently developed epilepsy and is on epitec 100 . Just want to make sure which pain killers are preferable to take when needed. Or which not to take. Is myprodol or ibupain ok.?? Do they interfere with the epitec. Have heard that some medication can interfere...? ## Rather than just thinking of what may interfere with the Epitec, his overall health and the severity of his epilepsy also need to be taken into consideration, when deciding what medications are safe for him to take. Thus, the best suggestion I can make is that he check with his doctor, before taking anything else. Is Epitec the only medication he is on? Does he have any other health conditions?

I am on Epitec 200 for the past 2 years, after the birth of my son I got a blackout and because of Epilepsy in my family the doctors immediately said that that is what i have. For as long as i can remember i have very sensitive eyes and the dr now said I have photosensitive epilepsy. I want to join my family on a cruise and I know I get seasick, is it safe to use stugeron seasick medication while on Epitec, or what else can i use? Please advise. ## Hi Janey, Sorry to hear about that situation with the blackout. I hope you're doing much better by now. Based on my research there are no drug interactions listed between the active ingredients in Stugeron (cinnarizine) and Epitec (Lamotrigine); deeming them safe to take together. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but ...
