Klonopin Messes Up Sleep Studies???
UpdatedI have been prescribed klonopin for a few years after I developed a rare sleep disorder that causes me to fall and stay asleep for days on end and the adderall I am prescribed began making my anxiety so bad I cannot leave the house often. Unfortunately there is my primary care dr (PCP) and my psychiatrist: the PCP gives me the klonopin Rx unbeknownst to the psych, who is very much against my taking any sedating (and therefore calming) Meds. I am in a real conundrum now: After eight years I have finally found a sleep doc who is more than willing to break protocol and perform a sleep study that lasts as long as I am asleep - 60+ hrs instead of the normal 8hr 11pm-7am study. but I found him thru my psych dr and therefore can't ask him about the klonopin but others in and around the medical field have mentioned to me before that you can tell by reading a sleep study if someone has been on a benzo long term and it could interfere with the results. my question is whether anyone knows: 1. what in particular longterm benzo use does to one's sleep patterns/stages, even if they don't use it before bedtime. and most importantly 2. how long would I have to stop the klonopin before the study if I don't want it to effect my test?
(if it matters, I am prescribed 90 .5mg tabs a month but they always last me at least two months and I take between 1 and 1.5mg at a time. I take them four days a week or so, sometimes twice a day depending on need)
