Has Anyone Been Perscibed Suboxin For Pain Only?

Is everyone here perscribed Suboxone for drug dependency, addiction or abuse? is anyone here perscribed Suboxone for pain only? I asked this because I am on Suboxone and my pain Dr put me on suboxone.. For 8 years i was taking 80mg oxycontin x2 daily and 4 10mg perc x4 daily and it was not handling my pain very well.. after being put on suboxone i am doing much better, I only need 12 mg a day to keep my pain at a tolerable level.. i don't understand why it isn't being perscribed more for pain... My friends are telling me that eventually my dose will be cut and I will be taken off the drug and I wont be given anything else afterwords.. There telling me everyone eventually gets cut off because thats what it for... Thats makes no sence to me I am not on it for ddiction so I see no reson why I should ever be taken off.. But so far I have failed to find a another single person who is on soboxone for pain like I am..

We have had other people post that have been prescribed Suboxone for pain, rather than addiction. It contains a very potent narcotic, Buprenorphine, and doctors can use it for pain, when someone has exhausted their other treatment options.

And you are correct, the tapering down is only used for someone that is fighting drug addiction, it has nothing to do with using it for treating pain.

However, since it is a very potent narcotic, no doctor is going to prescribe it as the first line option for pain.

I've heard from MANY friends that were yes, put on Sub for pain??? Each and every one of them (ok only 3 but still lol) said it didn't do a thing for them for pain & got off of it but not soon enuf to go thru w/d from it. It's nuts...they give it also yes, to op addiction patients just to get them "addicted" to yet another drug to be weaned by a dr only to find themselves still in pain. What a drag.Your case sounds different. I'd definitely tell your dr of your concerns and what you've been told. That would be just awful if that were to be the case for you...? Good luck & be well ~
