Generic Opana-people Speak Up (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Updated

They are saying that the new opana works as well as the old. There are so many peoples statements that I have read saying the new don't work as well but yet Endo states their research don't prove that. All people who have a real medical problem that causes pain and takes new opana and it doesn' work as well as the old needs to speak up. One person can't change anything. People who are being treated awful by medical doctors and pain clinics because they have pain also need to speak up.

Re: Sue (# 126) Expand Referenced Message

I am picking up my script at pharmacy tomorrow for Oxicontin 20mg. I heard there is no generic for this. My pharmacy said he had both brand and generic. I wish someone could tell me the truth so I can get what works. Last month pharmacy told me they were out generic. I was upset cause I was 3 days late picking up. So they gave me brand. R they allowed to do that if my doctor didn't write DAW. Someone please get back to me before I pick tomorrow. Thanks Sue

Re: Psl772 (# 122) Expand Referenced Message

Maybe u can give me an answer. My neurologist prescribed Oxycontin 20mg. I called my pharmacist to ask if it is generic or brand. He said he had both. I have been reading MedsChat and all I hear about is Opana. Please let me know as I am picking up my script at the pharmacy today. Thanks.

For everyone who thinks that people abusing pain medication are 'wrong' when some of you say "you're just trying to feel high and we are ruining for everyone", how are we ruining it for anyone? I have a legal prescription and never take more than prescribed a day. Sometimes my back goes out with no notice and the pain is unbearable and I need something in my system as quick as possible. One of you said you run around trying to get enough Opana for the month...so do not speak for me. If I wanted to just feel high I would take extra. Thank you.

I just saw this today. People also need to tell the FDA that the new ones don't work as well. Endo, from everything I read and I have read a lot about this, they really are in it for the money. Of course they will not admit to this but why wait till the old was about to expire before bring out the new? Oxy had already came out with abuse free. You can't tell me the companies didn't know how to make their pain meds the same way until till the patent was ready to expire.

Drugmakers modifying their products exclusively to avoid generic competition are engaging in illegal exclusionary conduct, the FTC says.

Endo Health Solutions Launches 7.5mg and 15mg strengths of Reformulated, Designed to be Crush-Resistant, OPANA ER

New strengths complete full line of offerings for OPANA ER with INTAC® technology designed to be crush-resistant

CHADDS FORD, Pa., Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Endo Health Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: ENDP) announced today that its subsidiary, Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc., has launched 7.5mg and 15mg strengths of its reformulated, designed to be crush-resistant, OPANA® ER (oxymorphone HCl) product. Now commercially available, the 7.5mg and 15mg options complete the launch of all approved strengths of the reformulated version of OPANA ER with INTAC® technology. The product is now available in seven dosage strengths: 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40mg.

"Considering that a substantial amount of abuse and misuse of opioid products is performed by manipulating the tablet through crushing and powdering, we are excited to offer patients and healthcare professionals a full line of strength options of the reformulated, designed to be crush-resistant, OPANA® ER," stated Julie McHugh, chief operating officer, Endo Health Solutions. "Now healthcare professionals and patients have seven strength options for extended release oxymorphone (HCl) in a version designed to be crush-resistant. We see this line completion as an important step forward for responsible pain management."

With the launch of 7.5mg and 15mg OPANA ER designed to be crush-resistant, Endo filed a false advertising suit against Actavis calling for the company to cease and desist promoting its non-crush-resistant extended release oxymorphone HCl product as A-B rated, or bio-equivalent, to the reformulated OPANA ER. The lawsuit was filed earlier today, Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

As Endo reported in November, surveillance data collected by national independent sources through the third quarter of 2012 suggest that the introduction of reformulated OPANA ER designed to be crush-resistant in February reduced abuse rates of the product when compared to the non-crush-resistant version that Endo discontinued in May. Additionally, rates of abuse for the non-crush-resistant 7.5mg and 15mg oxymorphone HCl tablets marketed by Actavis appear to have increased more than 122 percent since Endo launched its reformulated OPANA ER version.

Yup, they refused to write my Opana ER prescription for generic. Said their office won't prescribe it, period. EVEN after I told her it caused ulcers in my esophagus & stomach.

Yea and do you all realize the "new and improved" Opana Crush Proof Gel balls are flammable????? They expect us to put those in our bodies?? And long term at that!!!!! They need to leave the new generic version by Global alone!! At least they break down and kill pain!! Its all about money though. I can't imagine name brand Opana being safe. Whoever heard of a flammable pill??? I bet Oxycontin by Perdue are flammable too. Same gel ball formula makeup. Don't have one to try it on though. Its disgusting the way they treat all of us pain patients. The doctors treat us like garbage and then the pharmacist give us crusty looks. Its just ridiculous!!!

I know how you feel about Doctors, and wish I could help you find the right guy to go too.I have to say,I felt the same way you do,from time to time, about wanting the pain to end,and think death is a better alternative. It's not,any day on this side of the dirt is a good day.I'm a chronic pain person too,for 27 years, everyday, all day,but I take Opana, and a 500mg.muscle relaxer twice a day.It helps for the most part. But my chiropractor can turn a bad day good, with heat and elec. stym. I wouldn't take a generic Opana, the name brand is the best, and you don't get a buzz. I see others saying they burn. Your not supposed to abuse them, and if they do, they are the one's that make it hard for us real pain patients who can't find a good Dr. when we need them. I wish I could do away with all the drug searchers, they are ruining it for all the legit patients out here. All I can tell you is don't give up,you will find a doctor and you will make feel good enough to at least live from day to day.I can't lie to you and say you'll be normal one day,you might not,but if you do God bless....

Hi Martha; Just seen your post, and I have had some problems too with Opana. I was getting stomach pain, and acid reflux, but changed when I eat.I took food just before taking my meds and it seemed to go away.I been a cpp,for 27 yrs.and finally have a good pain doctor. They have a habit of treating us like we're criminals, and even threaten us with arrest.I think it's a sad state we're in if you have a legit disability with proof and they still do this to us.I know all the druggies ruined it for us,but I don't like being treated like one of them instead of the good and honest guy I am..I also take a 500mg. muscle relaxer with my Opana 40s,and for the most part they control the pain better then Percocets ever did.I don't want generics either,I need name brand or forget it.I know there is an addiction to these drugs but I also have a pain addiction,I never wanted,so to feel partially normal is better then screaming in pain like I used to before these meds. I wish you good luck in your pain treatments and hope you don't experience the bad Doctors I have. Now I have a great guy, who LISTENS, AND PRESCRIBES, and I hope you find a good guy too.
