In reading messages from other people, some have been able to obtain Disophrol from the UK. How do you go about ordering it? Is there a website? ZS ## It is also still available in Canada and there have been posts from people that have ordered it from there, as well. The best suggestion I can make is to do some searching and see what websites have it in stock and if they ship to the U.S. The shipping fees could make it quite expensive, but if it's the only medication that worked for you, then it's most likely worth it. I believe it would be legal to order and import it, in specific quantities, but I am not certain since that's not my area of expertise, most sites that offer it for sale will provide those details, so make sure to check. Are there any other questions or commen...

Looking for the original little green pill ## At this time, it is no longer being manufactured and sold in the U.S. by the manufacturer Schering-Plough. It's still available in Canada and a few other countries, but not anywhere in the U.S. So, you may be able to find a website to order it from. In case you want to look for an alternative medication, it contains the active ingredients Dexbrompheniramine and Pseudoephedrine, the latter of which is now only available from behind the counter at your pharmacy, so you'd have to ask them if they carry anything that contains both of them. It does not, however, require a prescription for purchase. Learn more Pseudoephedrine details here. Learn more Dexbrompheniramine details here. Did you try asking at the pharmacy? ## Have used drixoral...

Where can I obtain some Dexbrompheniramine or Drixoral? ## The manufacturer "merck pharmaceuticals" posted on their webpage, the following information regarding Drixoral: "We are no longer manufacturing Drixoral Cold and Allergy in the United States. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and can offer the following alternatives: CLARITIN D-12 CLARITIN D-24 Questions or Comments: 1-800-317-2165" With that said, you may have to end up turning towards various Canadian pharmacies to obtain some Drixoral. Raw honey would also be helpful if you're managing low to below moderate level allergies. But if you really want a potent natural remedy, raw honey, mixed with a few grams of ginger and garlic paste, is a potential preparation against hundreds of diseases...

Will We Ever Be Able To Purchase Drixoral Again It Is The Only Cold Medication That Works. I have tried almost everything else but nothing compares. ## Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the manufacturer is planning to release it again in the U.S. It was removed from the market here in 2010 and is now only available in Canada and other countries. Learn more Drixoral details here. Many companies have removed such products from the market due to the fact that having them behind the pharmacy counter depleted sales, so it was no longer worthwhile to continue manufacturing the product. Which other ones have you tried?

I wrote the company that makes Drixoral several months ago and they recommended Claritin D. It doesn't work nearly as well as Drixoral. I can't stand the sick feeling or bad allergy symptoms I have without Drixoral. ## I have had success with ClaratinD 12 hour(it has pseudophedrine sulfate) and Wal mart's Equate children's cough & cold DM elixer (it has Brompheniramine maleate) I could not find any product with dexbrompheniramine maleate in it but the brompheniramine maleate seams to work. I have been taking Drixorl Cold & Allergy for over 20 years. When I could no longer get it I was so sick I could not get out of bed most days. Do you think we are addicted to Drixoral? These symptoms sound like what drug addicts go through when they can't get a fix. My husb...

Can any of you who have received their Drixoral from Canada share the time they waited for delivery, which pharmacy they used and the cost. This would be very helpful. Thanks. ## I ordered Drixoral from Canada Tuesday, July 8. I received it Monday, July 14. Works great. I just wish it was made by someone else other than Schering Plough. I don't want to support a company (in ANY way) that could be so callous and mean to it's own customers. ## It has to do with business practices, not being mean to their customers! Drixoral contains Pseudoephedrine, which is used to make Meth. To cut down on people buying it in unlimited quantities, there types of medication have been moved behind the counter at US pharmacies and the amount you can purchase at once has been limited. In order to ke...

I have been looking for drixoral for ages now. I have been alive through canadian pharmacies. any has any idea when will we have drixoral back in stock it is january 2010. Else I will go back to TruMed Canada ## Drixoral will not be back in stock, it has been discontinued by the manufacturer, due to lack of sales. The places that still sell it are simply selling out their pre-existing stock. There have been quite a few posts about this, such as this one: ## (I'm posting in several places) Well, it's now March 2010, and I just got off the phone with Schering-Plough/Merck again. The lady I spoke with said that as of Feb. 15, they have no firm date for the return of Drixoral. She assured me that they were going to start making it again in the same formulation. She said their new ma...

I called Schering, the maufacturer. They are in the process of manufacturing Drixoral again in a different facility. The spokeswomen told me the supply on the shelves has been depleted, but it will be back the first of the year 2010. So hang on...I've been taking it for 40, yes 40 years. I sorely miss it. ## Do you really believe this?! Have you EVER seen a medication disappear like this with no warning? Something's up. I love Drixoral and I really miss it. ## Drixoral was discontinued by the manufacturer due to loss of sales, it contained Pseudoephedrine and had to be moved behind the pharmacy counter. A rerelease of the medication will not contain Pseudoephedrine and will likely not work as well. ## Is Drixoral a Steroid drug and do I have to be careful when taking it? ## No i...

To get Drixoral you have to ask the pharmacist. They keep the medication behind the counter as they do not sell to minors. ## Were you able to get some Drixoral by asking the pharmacist? This has always been an over-the-counter product. I guess because it has ingredients that people use to make meth, they have tightened up the rules. Can you please let us know if you were able to find any, and if so, which store? ## Seriously you should investigate the stupidity you say before you speak, even on the internet. People are looking for real answers to things not a know-it-all who has no clue. I've talked to several pharmacy's (walmart, Meijer, Rite Aid, Walgreens...) And the product has been pulled off the shelfs period. It is not behind the counter. It used to be, but then anyone w...

It's looking like a lack of control over good manufacturing processes is what led to the shortage of Drixoral. Schering-Plough recalls Drixoral Cold & Allergy TABLETS REASON: cGMP Deviations (by mfr Actavis) Looks like Actavis has a history of this for many years. (Google search link using Actavis cGMP Deviations) I'd guess Schering-Plough and the FDA dropped the ball on this one.

What happened with OTC Drixoral? ## The tightening of the laws governing the distribution of Pseudoephedrine, which was one of the active ingredients in Drixoral, caused them to reformulate the product in an effort to keep it available on store shelves and not hidden behind the pharmacy counter. That said, it now contains Phenylephrine, which unfortunately has never been tested and proven to work as well as Pseudoephedrine. There are other products that still contain Pseudoephedrine available, but you must ask for them at the pharmacy counter and, in most cases, sign a form to purchase them There are also restrictions on the amounts you can purchase at one time. ## A Sam's Club pharamcist in Wichita said one could get a prescription equivalent identified as CPM/PSE, made by someone ...

It has been months since I've been able to find Drixoral in the U.S. I've heard that you can purchase it in Canada. Is there a reason that it's pulled from our shelves, and will it be coming back to the U.S. ? ## I have repeatedly posted on here WHY it has been withdrawn by most companies from the US market. It is because it contains Pseudoephedrine, which is used as an ingredient in Meth. Since the FDA limited the amounts you can purchase at once and pharmacies moved it behind the counter to better regulate the sale, the manufacturers have been losing a lot of business, as most people will just grab something else off the store shelves. It is not good business for a company to keep manufacturing a product that it is losing money on, so many companies have stopped making pro...

It's bad enough that Drixoral cannot be obtained. Only slightly worse is the lack of consideration on the part of Schering Plough who has left a good many Drixoral users without a cessation notice and not having increased at-plant inventories to last the year that the productwill not be available. I feel more than a little stiffed by SP. I guess we know where we, the consumer, sits. ## There are other medications available that contain the same ingredients, please ask at your pharmacy. ## I absolutely agree. My pharmacist says there are no direct alternatives. Schering Plough does not seem to care about their customers and say that this is caused by a plant move. I don't believe them...Drixoral is not even on their website as one of their products. Something is going on and it i...

Any warnings of being addicted to Drixoral Cold and Sinus? I am having panic attacks and feeling jittery after not being able to get it now. ## There are side effects and possible addiction to ALL drugs, regardless of whether they are prescription or over the counter. The packaging should contain relevant side effect information and the addictiveness depends on how long and how often you ingest it. ## I've been taking Drixoral since the 70's-first by prescription, then over the counter when it was de-regulated. It has been the only thing to relieve my allergies and sinus problems--AND I LIKE TO BREATH-THRU MY NOSE--without spraying my nose every 10 minutes or using a box of kleenex a day. I have never had any side effects or the possible adverse symptoms listed on the box- from ...
