I went to my doctor today to get my scripts refilled and he gave me a drug test to check my levels? I am prescribed .25 mg of Xanax 3 xs daily and 150 mgs of Effexor daily and methadone. Since I ran out of Xanax and took lorazepam instead will the lorazepam show up as the same thing as Xanax?

It depends on the type of test he uses. There are some basic tests that just check for the presence of Benzodiazepines and if that's the one he uses, then since they are both in the same drug family, that's all that it would show.
However, they are both different drugs, Xanax contains Alprazolam and Lorazepam is the generic for Ativan, so a test that looks for the specific metabolites would show exactly what you took.

Wrong - Xanax is Alprazolam - Valium is Diazepam - Ativan is Lorazepam - and Clonipin is Clonazepam. All of these are benzodiazepines. Most places use the cheaper test that tests for benzos. If you get trapped, hold your ground and say you've been taking your prescribed meds only. Unlike other situations in life, honesty typically doesn't help where people wield power in other folks' lives, especially people working in methadone clinics.

They don't. Xanax shows diazepam and valiums, I know, shows lorazapam.

No Joey as they are different medications. For either drug you would need a valid script for your drug screen!
