Do Not Take Valium!!!

I am right now in the most God awful Valium withdrawal and I only took 5 mg every night to sleep. ( for years) I very rarely took one during the day for anxiety. I never took them recreationally. I never upped the dose or got a tolerance. I decided to quit taking it and knew you had to do it gradually but I did it too abruptly and I am in a living hell right now!!! AVOID VALIUM it's dangerous and mean. If I had known this could happen to me I NEVER would have taken it at all. I'm seeing the doc tomorrow and I'll probably have to go back to the original dose before I can try to come back off of it. Meanwhile....it's HELL.

Dear Jill, just because you are going through hell W/D'ing from Valium please don't scream "DO NOT TAKE VALIUM!!!". Valium has been a medicine sent from heaven for me for nearly 30 years now. It's allows me to be "normal" in stressful situations where otherwise I would have to leave the room and not interact in a normal business environment. Without Valium I'd likely not be able to work. So it ALLOWS me to produce income which in turn benefits me and my wife and two kids. Based on your statement taken at face value I'd lose me job within months or weeks because I'd likely blow a gasket in from of and directed to my boss or coworkers. If it's not your prescribed drug of choice then quit, but don't scream at me for what I do....I think I've said enough and I think you really do understand what I'm saying here. One persons bad reaction is another persons helping hand. I don't ever see myself stopping the use of Valium. Do you see now? :-) I wish you all the best, I really do. Tom in Idaho.

First of all, your body will get used to any medication you take regularly for a long period of time and stopping it will cause withdrawal effects, even if you didn't abuse it. It is just the way our bodies work.

Stopping too fast also creates the risk of seizures, so yes, please consult your doctor and follow their tapering instructions.
