I am 36 yr old female diagnosed with ADD 2 yrs ago. I was originally on 30mg of vyvanse and that was great. I had to stop taking it bc I was pregnant. I was put back on it a month ago after being off of it for a year and it was not the same. It only worked for a couple hrs and I lost appetite. So dr put me on concerta. This is my second day and I dont like it. It takes forever to kick in and it makes me angry and so sleepy. Will this change? Is this common? Is the dose to low or high? (34mg) I am thinking low bc I cant concentrate at all and Im tired all day. Thanks ## I'm assuming you meant the 36mg extended release tablet? That is actually one of the higher dosages, the next would be the highest daily dose at 54mgs. Since it is an extended release, it is not going to start working...

I found a pill in my 16 year olds room, and need help. There are no markings at all on pill, which this had made it very diffucult to try and find via internet. It is oblong in shape and has 3 colors. From left to right...pink, white, gray. If anyone has any information reguarding this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you ## sounds like a time release concerta, add medication ## i found a similar pill, is the pink much stripe much thiner than the white? ## try your pharmacy they will have the right answer it sounds like a over the counter med, i think tylenol has something like that. all though i might be wrong. ## if you are really concerned do a drug test on your child you can get one at your local pharmacy. it's better to be wrong and be too late.

My son has been on the 18mg of Concerta for about 3 years. Just this past month when we went to pick up the prescription at the pharmacy, the pills look like a different shape. They still have the correct alza ... on them. The reason I am asking is that my son has not been himself, acting out, etc. since taking these. I am not sure if anyone else has had the same issue. P.S. got them at a major pharmacy chain. When I called the pharmacist he said they are carefully monitored.

Hi there. My son is 9, just started 18 mg of Concerta 3 days ago. Already he has had trouble sleeping. Didn't fall of til close to midnight and lost at least 3 hrs. of his usual sleep. I'm worried this is going to be counterproductive for him. Any advice? Thank you! ## It is a stimulant medication, so it can cause insomnia, especially when someone first starts taking it. This is a side effect that should wear off in a few weeks, after his body adjusts to the medication. I do, however, understand your concern, as this can be disruptive in many ways, especially to his education, so you might wish to speak to his doctor if it continues, he may need a low dosage or a different medication. What time of day is he taking it? It is usually best that it be taken in the morning, so the wo...

Hello, Im Cia. My daughter is 8 and this is her 1st time taking Concerta18. I have pondered on whether to give it to her or not and even had to get another prescription from the Dr because I let the 1st one expire. My thing is desperately need her doing better in school. She will ball up perfectly good paper one sheet at a time and throw them away one at a time. She purposely breake her pencil lead just so she can get up and go to the sharpener. Meddling other kids along the way!!. At home she is the same way. She recently brought home a 25 as a class grade in Math (her best subject). I made up my mind then to at least try it. I know there is someone else out there that can ease my mind about giving this to my little girl. I have read some of the postings and believe the Dr informed me ...

Are there any other medications prescription or other wise that look like Concerta( white cylindrical shape, alza 36 imprint) I believe my roomate stole my meds and replaced them. The pills are also white cylinder shaped but there is no imprint code. I'm not that upset he took them I know he has problems but there were over 30 pills left and I dont want him to hurt himself out of ignorance. I know I'm not being paranoid these look just like my meds but like I said there is no imprint. Can anyone help me out? ## The answer to that would be no! Prescription medications in the US have to have unique imprints to allow them to be identified in case of emergency, thus the same imprint code cannot be used on something else. Now, please note, I am only saying this in relation to U.S. me...

Has anyone found any discounts for Concerta. It is incredibly expensive and my insurance won't cover it. Any online suggestions for pharmacies with a good history? ## Ask your doctor about Alza 18. I think it is a generic form of Concerta. ## Go to Concerta.net or whatever their homepage is the main one... there's a coupon for a free months supply.

Please clarify: From what I have been able to research on here, it appears that Concerta and Ritalin are actually the same drug. Is that true? I looked under Methlphenidate and Metadate CD and both say commonly known as Ritalin in North America. ## That is correct. However Methylphenidate (Ritalin) is immediate release and Concerta is a Slow/Time Release form of Ritalin that is released into the body over a duration of 10 hours.

1/2 long, 1/4 diameter, pink, hard, capsule shaped pill marked "Alza 54". ## alza 54 is 54 mg extended release Concerta ## Very good if you actually have ADD or ADHD, but taking them without this condition may not be the best idea. They do not have any real effects, they make you more concentrated but you will get migranes the next day and will have a difficult time sleeping. I do not reccomend them for unprescribed use.

My son takes concerta 54 and with ritalin 10 mg as a combination. He has his good and bad days. He was on the strattera and it didn't work. I have heard but bad things about that one it could be just tha one medication that is doing that. Are both dosages high that maybe it also. Or get another doctor that deals with that particular problem.
