Started on Cipro for a week than Dr. switched me to mono/mac 100mg. I have been headachy.. bad and burning up like such hot flashes in the night I took ice bags to hold in my arms to cool me down. I feel twittery and shaky . Dr. office gave me a cortesoid shot thinking it would help my continuing headache (which it did). But the tired weakness along with the terrible heat-burning flashes all night. It is daylight now and I don't feel the consumed heat problem. I am thinking I'd like to stop the mono mac and take my chances. I am 84 years old. I have no discomfort in the bladder area anymore. ## After that post early this AM I a have been resting. Sorta still have burning in my bladder. But being blessed with Arthritis I never know exactly about the pain in my lower back. Mild he...

My doctor gave me a perscription for ciprofloxin for a uti. I am on gildess fe 1/20 birth control and i am afraid the cipro will make my birth control less effective. I have been seeing mixed reviews so i need help please! ## Hi, Mandy! How are you? Yes, there is a chance that it could alter the efficacy of your contraceptive. This antibiotic can sometimes cause your liver to not process/absorb as much of the estrogen in them, which makes them less effective at preventing pregnancy. Learn more Cipro details here. Thus, it is best to use a backup form of protection while you are taking it and for 7 days afterwards. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a abcess tooth which one is best cipro septra or keflex? ## Hi Brenda, From what I could gather, Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections. So it's probably not the best choice as a first line treatment option.. Septra and Keflex on the other hand, are more commonly prescribed by dentists for tooth and other mouth related infections, due to their broader spectrum. You may want to talk with your doctor about either one of those last two options to see what works best. Sometimes the right decision has to come from trial and error, depending on how your body reacts to each medication. Have you taken either of these medications in the past?

RXd Cipro 500mg bid x 7 days in mid-July for e coli kidney infection. Cleared infection. However, broke out in major seborrheic dermatitis all over face, head, and groin while taking. Also noticed anxiety ramping up while taking with decreasing appetitie and gastric upset/loose stools. I was already suffering from knee pain and plantar fasciitis, but have since developed more widespread muscle pain and more joint pain elsewhere, especially left elbow and hips, and the knee and heel feel worse than ever. No physical reason for this, and my achilles are more sore than ever as well. I lost 26 pounds since the day I started Cipro course for no other explainable reason, and my weight was stable before taking it for months. My anxiety is now intolerable if I don't take Xanax XR .5 at leas...

I had kidney infection and was prescribed Cipro for six months. Now I have severe back pain radiating into the buttock area. I also have loss of control with other functions. I've also dealt with anxiety issues in the past. Never thought any of this was related until tonite when the pain has reached a new level and the drs aren't helping me. Could it all be related to cipro?! ## No, it's very doubtful that back pain that comes up years later would be related to the antibiotic. What types of testing have your doctors done? Are you male or female?

White tablet, with 512 stamped on it. On reverse side, line to indicate where to split it. ## if it just has 512 on it and nothing else except a score line it is most likley cipro. I would suggest that you go to ask.com and search for pill identifier there is a site that uses the imprint on a pill or capsule to ID Meds. ## The pill which you are describing is actually a generic Percocet. This is a narcotic pain reliever containing Acetaminophen 325 mg and Oxycodone HCl 5 mg, manufactured by Mallinckrodt. ## i took a white flat tab, it was round and said 512 i took it and i dont feel ok what is it ## Perk 5 with 325 mg APAP (Acetaminophen)

I need some help/advice/guidance because I'm honestly at a loss as to what is going on with me. At the beginning of the year I had gone to the ER and they said that I had a UTI and prescribed me Cipro and Pyridium to take for a week or so. About a few days into taking the medication I had to stop because it began to make me so sick! Luckily, even with a few left in the bottle, my UTI was cleared when I went for a follow up with my doctor. Unfortunately for me, I have been left with some annoying stomach issues! I'm constantly belching, there are days where I have sever sour stomach (even if I eat a small salad in the middle of the day!) and bouts of nausea. I have taken Florastor for 2 weeks and it did help some but not enough to say I'm back to my old self again.. I'm a...

I have been taking tri sprintec (birth control) for over a year now and have been taking ciprofloxacin for a little less than a week. Does this make my birth control less effective? All I've been reading online is that it's one of the only antibiotics that doesn't effect the pill. ## That is correct, Ciprofloxacin is one of the few antibiotics that has been shown not have an effect on the effectiveness of birth control tablets. It may cause side effects, which may include: nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash. Learn more: Are there any other questions? ## I have been on the birth control pill loestrin for about 8 months and cipro for about a week ..I currently had unprotected sex (no pull out) am I safe or does cipro affect my BC?!

I had a bladder infection - my doc prescribed Ciprox 500 mg. it started to get better then started to come back the 3rd day - was about to call doc when he called me to say that he was prescribing Nitrofur because they found I had e coli infelction in the labs - why didn't they prescribe Nitro 1st? according to these discussions cip is supposed to be for both. Any input? ## According to medicinenet.com, "Ciprofloxacin is frequently used to treat urinary infections caused by bacteria such as E. coli. Ciprofloxacin is also effective in treating infectious diarrheas caused by E. coli, Campylobacter jejuni, and Shigella bacteria." I'm not entirely sure why they would wait to prescribe Nitro afterwards, but from what I could gather Nitrofurantoin is solely used for the purpos...

How well has cipro Hcl 500mg work for infect prostrat I am 45 ## Hi Edwahdo, Although Ciprofloxacin is not recommended as a first-line antibiotic choice, it is still highly effective in treating bacterial prostatitis; and a 10-14 day course of cipro will usually heal the infection. My doctor found blood in my urine 3 weeks ago. She gave me antibotics and they did not work, so I then got a new perscription of antibotics and they did not work. She did a culture and found it was a bacterial infection. Last week I took my next antibodics and they did not work. Now I am on med # 4, Nitrofu-Macr... I took only 1 so far and I feel like heck!! Is this normal? My drugest did not say anything special about it, only it is an antibotic. What else can I feel with this? ## Have you consulted your doctor? At this point, it is difficult to say if your symptoms are due to the medication, the infection, or possibly both. I had a severe bacterial prostate infection and was put on Cipro for 2 months with no results. Urologist switched me to Sulfameth and it helped greatly, except some symptoms still persist. He said blood flow to prostate is very minimal, so some men must remain on Sulfameth for long periods, and some indefinitely. After six months on Sulfameth, slight symptoms are still there. My three questions: 1. Will this long period on the antibiotic Sulfameth cause my body to build up a resistance to the Sulfameth, or any other antibiotics for that matter? I have experienced no side effects so far. 2. Is it true that some men with Prostititus must remain on Sulfameth for life, to keep it under control? 3. With the Bacterial Prostititus still present, could any disease be transmitted to my wife when...

I took 2 courses of Cipro, one from 1 year ago for 10 days and I didn't have any side effect and I use to workout everyday and the next one from 3 weeks ago for 21 days. after 19 days I start to feel pain in my knee and elbow so I didnt take the last 2 courses but I still feel the pain till now... I am so scared from what I read... I just wanna know if my knee and elbow pain will be permenant or it will takes sometime to go... please HELP ... ## Have you consulted your doctor? They are really the only person qualified to help you discover what is causing the joint pain and, if it is from the medication, if any permanent damage has been done. There is really no way for anyone to tell you that just based on the limited information in your post. What were you taking the Cipro for?

I already have Ciprofloxacin HCL will it give me the same results as augmentin ## Which has your doctor advised you to use? In the case of certain bacterial infections, one antibiotic may be preferred over the other, so you should follow your doctor's instructions on which one to use.

I just realized cpro triggered my leg/hand muscle weekness, peripheal neuroapthy last June 2010. I was hospitalized, doctors never put 2 and 2 together, said I had Atoxia. They new I was treated for a UTI a few weeks earlier. I have never recovered, have trouble walking and just 2 weeks ago I had another UTI they gave me CIPRO 500 - again and unfortunately that is how I just figured out what happened. Can not walk unassisted for long distance - legs very week. I am more than MAD!!!!! ## Do you have proof that it was caused by the Ciprofloxacin? If so, have you contact the FDA to report the adverse events? All medications carry risks and some, though rare, can be very severe. Some antibiotics are known to even cause life threatening issues, in some people. That is why all possible risks ...

Red and yellow capsule - NO imprint at all. Maybe an antibiotic or Cipro...... ## I don't think this pill was manufactured in the U.S., as it has no letter or number imprints. U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have unique letters or numbers (sometimes in addition to a logo of some kind) imprinted on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage. However, the way a pill looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the company making it, so there could be many, many pills on the market, both over the counter or prescription that could meet that physical description. Unless you obtained this pill on the street, the only other thing I can suggest is that you try asking your local doctor or pharmacist for more information.
