I take all these meds for high suger, colesteral ,pain and nerve pain do you see any bad side effects from having to take all these meds> ## Hi Smith, Unfortunately, just about every prescription drug comes with at least a handful of undesirable side effects. However, there's really no telling ahead of time which side effect(s) or symptom(s) one might end up experiencing during the course of treatment, if you even have any symptoms at all. Not everyone who takes these types of drugs experiences side effects. So you could just as well be in the clear as far as I know. If you'd like to learn more about each of those drugs and their potential side effects, you can do so on the pages for: Bystolic Details Metformin Details Pravastatin Details Hydrocodone Details Amitriptyline Det...

Started taking Bystolic 5 mg 5 weeks ago, heart date is down to 51 BPM, also put on neurotin for nerve tingling not from diabeties, started at 100mg now at 300 mg. experiencing severe depression and suicidal thoughts. I realize it's the meds. How do I reduce them without causing more serious side effects. The neurotin did not help the tingling pain, but relieved arthritic knee pain, and although my bp is down my heart rate is so low I am unable to walk uphill without shortness of breathe. Is it okay to just reduce the dosage for a few days? ## Wow! Yes, it seems that they are both causing problems. The Neurontin works on brain chemicals, so along with being an anticonvulsant that helps with nerve pain, it is also sometimes used to treat mood disorders. Learn more Neurontin details h...

I was prescribed this today instead of metoprolol. I know what metorprolol does. I am not going to take this new stuff after reading the warnings. In fact, I am on the wheat free program for the rest of my life and intend to manage all B/P issues by losing weight and living gluten free. Check out "Wheat Belly," written by a cardiologist. It's on the NY Times bestseller list for a good reason. ## Hello, MoeMoe! How are you? One warning I have to give you, do not stop blood pressure medications like this cold turkey. Doing so could result in a rebound effect that could cause dangerously elevated heart rate and blood pressure. It is best to taper them slowly under the supervision of your doctor. And as to the "Wheat Belly" book, while many will debate it, it does make s...

Been taking Bystolic for three weeks, good BP results; however diarrhea has been an issue. Anyone else with this side effect and will it go away as my body adjusts to the new med. ## Bystolic contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker and yes, it can cause diarrhea in some people, but that should ease as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if it it doesn't, or if it become worse, you should contact your doctor. Are there any other questions? ## Thanks for replying. How long wiill it take to adjust to this med. Sorry if I seem ignorant on this issue. ## Jackie, it usually takes between 4 to 6 weeks and the way you can usually tell is that will be the time when the side effects also seem to be at their worst. It's the same time the medication takes...

Can Bystolic cause an inflamed liver? Also, can it make your extremities like feet, fingers, and legs painful? My husband has been on this med for approx.3 years. ## Hello, Mimi! How are you and your husband doing? Most medications are processed through the liver and may cause problems, but only a doctor can tell him for sure if it's due to the Bystolic or something else. What type of pain is he getting, is it numbness, as if they are too cold? Blood pressure and cardiac medications, such as this one, work by affecting circulation, so some of them can cause these types of problems, I've had it happen myself. One was so severe that I had to stop taking it. Learn more Bystolic details here. What does his doctor feel is causing the problems he's experiencing? Is this the only medi...

My 35 year old son has HBP and high heart rate. . He used to take Bystolic but then lost his insurance and couldn't go to dr. Hasn't taken medicine for 8 months. His BP ran around 165/110 - sometimes higher. Heart rate has gone up to 175. He finally started back on Bystolic last week. Today his BP was 140/90. Much better, but still too high. How long to know if he is taking dufficient dose? ## Hello, JS! How are you and your son? That is a very good improvement over 165/110! I'm glad it's already working so well for him. It will take about 4 weeks to reach its full effectiveness level in his body, so he can tell how much it's going to lower it at this dosage. Learn more Bystolic details here. However, there are other options available that are much cheaper, so if he ...

I am a 55 year old female who started taking Bystolic 5 mg 4 days ago for high blood pressure. I also have tachycardia on occasion and a heart murmur which is supposedly 'benign'. I am noticing 2 different types of discomfort in my chest area since starting the med. 1. Stinging pains in different areas of my chest and heart area at various times of the day/evening. 2. Deeper pain in heart area that kind of feels like a pulled muscle which comes and goes for a few seconds. When chest pains are listed as a possible side effect, what kind of chest pain is being described? Could this be the Bystolic causing the stinging and the deeper more uncomfortable pain? What is the Bystolic causing in my body to create pain? When I go to the walk in clinic they want me to go to the er for test...

I was just prescribed bystolic 5mg for anxiety/anger issues. Just wondering if I should expect good or bad results ## Bystolic contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Learn more Bystolic details here. However, I have found nothing about it treating anxiety and anger issues, actually in men, it can make them worse, because it tends to increase the level of testosterone in the body. Did your doctor say how it's expected to help?

i like to know if Bystolic have a generic verion. ## Hello, Orlando! How are you? No, at this time there is no generic for this medication available. The patents on it will not expire until 2015 and 2021, depending on the formulation in question. There are, however, other beta blockers that are available as generics, such as Carvedilol and Metoprolol. Learn more Carvedilol details here. Learn more Metoprolol details here. Thus, you may want to ask your doctor about being prescribed an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

MY son, cousins and I were started on this medication from the cardiologists and primary doctors. We both had awful side affects with this medication. Each time when telling the doctors of the side effects the doctors wanted to continue to prescribe this medication. Extremely fatique, diarrhea, terrible chest pain, shortness of breath, excessive abdominal swelling, ecessive water retention, edema. Constant pain from legs and ankles swollen so bad that causes pain all the time making it almost impossible to stand, sit or walk. Why is it that the doctors are still recommended this medication? ## Hi Leroy, I completely agree with you that doctor's shouldn't be recommending things with so many adverse effects. To them it seems to be all about the money and not the patient's well...

I have been on Toprol XL 25mb twice a day for almost 6 years. Love the drug, but it appears to be wearing off. I am experiencing withdrawal type adrenaline surges after about 7-9 hours so the pills aren't lasting in my system anymore. I went to my cardio today and he gave me Bystolic 10 mg pill samples. He said to take 10 mg tonight and then start taking 20 mg. I asked him why such a high dose? Last year he gave me 5 mg Bystolic samples but I decided to stick with the Toprol. I am wondering if the once a day 20 mg Bystolic is comparable to two 25 mg Toprol XL pills...or is this too high a starting dose? He is a cardiac surgeon and I questioned him but he just said I need to work up to the 20 mg. My bp has been well maintained around 115/65 until recently where stress has caused it t...

My doctor started me on this drug 4 days ago. I have not been able to sleep well and have a strange sensation in my legs when I try to lay down to sleep. Could this be caused by Bystolic? ## Hi Pat, Based on my research, the following symptoms are listed as general side effects of Bystolic (Nebivolol): - difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep - numbness, burning, or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a608029.html#side-effects I would definitely recommend contacting your doctor as soon as possible if either of these side effects have become too bothersome or severe. But at least you know now what's causing it, so you can then ask about making adjustments to your dose or opt for switching medications. I hope this helps! ## Thank ...

Hi. I've been on Bystolic for about two years, since shortly after a five valve emergency bypass. While taking it (and I'm on so many meds I have NO idea if the Bystolic is responsible for this) I've had SOB and just an incredible weakness in legs. Had LOTS of tests related to the SOB, and they were all good. No actual SOB according to the lung doctor. Now....I ran out of Bystolic about 2 weeks ago and keep forgetting to go get the refill. For the last 10 days or so, I've brief periods of dizziness, some morning headaches, some loss f appetite, and the SOB/weakness issue has gotten exponentially worse. I work for a public utility so I am outdoors all day, and perform somewhat strenuous work. For the last several days, walking up a slight incline or climbing about 25 feet...

been on bystolic about a year i woke up one morning and had trouble walking now i have to have someone go everywhere with me ## Hi, Teresa! Sorry about the problem you're having. Are you thinking that the Bystolic has caused it? It would be very odd for it to do so after you've been on it for a long period of time. What has your doctor said caused the problem?

I've just started Bystolic -I take Fenofibrate, Lisinopril and Amlodipine but my BP was (and remains) at 160/74. This has been true for several years. I'm an exerciser and within an hour after exercise my bp is 130/60. My at rest pulse is 55. Since I've been on Bystolic (2 days) my pulse is lower but my bp hasn't moved. I'm a bit slower in my exercise regimine - from 13.5 min./mile to 15 min./mile - I'm 72 ## It sounds to me like you're doing great as far as exercise goes. My only suggestion would be to turn most of your attention to what you're eating on a regular basis, as I believe this has a significant impact on your BP levels overall. I used to have high BP for years in the range of 150/90, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits ...

After taking first dose of Bystolic 20 mg., 15 hours later had red cheeks lasting all day, no discomfort or other symptoms. Had been taken off of high dose of metoprolol, so put on high dose of Bystolic. Called Pharmacy, They advised me not to stop med. ## Hi Sue, I'm not finding any information listing "reddened cheeks" as a side effect. I did read that some people may experience an allergic reaction that causes the blood vessels to swell, maybe you are having an allergic reaction of some sort? If it becomes really bothersome or you start to experience any other symptoms, I would definitely make an appointment with your doctor. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Bystolic Details I hope this helps! ## The redness on the cheeks finally disapeared 24 hours lat...

I've started bystolic a few weeks ago. My Dr changed the dosage and I am now on 15 mg a day at 8 hour intervals. Since taking this as instructed, I've had a burning sensation through my upper body, even up into my neck and head. I have had reflux issues, but I can't distinguish this from a possible side effect. My father died of a brain stem stroke, and this sensation creates a lot of anxiety for me. Does anyone else suffer from this burning sensation? It is not in my extremeties. Thank you! ## Have you consulted your doctor? You should consult them any time that you experience ofd symptoms, even if you think they are medication side effects. Nebivolol is a beta blocker, that is usually used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions, but it generally causes...

Just reading everything about this drug. I was recently prescribed this at 10 mg a day. I do have high blood pressure. This did work! BUT...at the cost. My asthma is worse, taking my rescue inhaler every 4 hrs now. My hands and feet are cold. and swollen. I have EDEMA so it added to it. I have CKD stage 4 , my GFR is at 20, i'm being prepped for dialysis. I am on insulin, cardiolgist is NOT concerned. With NO testing to kidney function he said all was perfect, keep taking 10mg a day. My kidney function is declining since ive been on bystolic. if i decline much further, i shall be dead. Will the drs be happy then? they never do blood work, just give me a major pill dose of soemthing it says to NOT give renal patients. i am angry--Withdrs knowledge, but not approval i am withdrawing t...

I was for 3 years on different medications that did not reduvce my blood pressure at all, a couple of times my BP was 240/137. Now for last year I am on Bystolic 10mg and Amturnide 250/10/25, my blood presuure is down to 120/80 , honestly its just amazing and unheard of at least for me ## Awesome! I'm very glad you finally found medications that work for you. Eventually, you might find yourself not needing all of them and cutting down on them. That's what happened to me, I was running very high and we had to use a crazy combo of drugs to bring it down, but once we got it down, it started to go too low and we gradually had to cut out some drugs and switch some others, so I am finally at the point were I am only taking two. It's always possible that this could change again, bu...
