I started Butrans 10 on 4/30. Had amazing relief. I felt better than I had in years. I caught a cold around April 20th. Went straight to my chest. My Dr thought I had walking pneumonia and started me on a course of steroids and antibiotics. 10 days later, no improvement, chest xray clear but wheezing and heavy with breathing. Dr. gave another round of steroids and antibiotics. This past weekend, I started to feel like a brand new cold came on me. Severe head congestion, terrible cough, the works. I went to urgent care. That Dr. told me it was allergy related. He gave a decadron shot, Z pak, started me on Zyrtec, albuterol inhaler. Today is the first day I have started to feel a little better. My question is this, could this possibly be from the patch? I seems a little coincidental that ...

i cant afford my patches is there a way to get help LIKE A DISCOUNT OR ANYTHING ## On the lower right side of each page of this website is a printable discount card that you can try using. There is no registration or qualifying required, you just print it and it provides discounts or rebates at many pharmacies. So that's something you may want to look into. Learn more Butrans details here. Additionally, there is a savings card that your doctor can print for you to use from their website, butrans.com. But as I said, a physician has to sign up for it and print it for their patients. Does anyone else have any ideas? ## I was told by my pain doc's nurse practicioner(spelled wrong) that if you get your doc to call your insurance co. it might help with the cost some if he tells them h...

Hi. I need any and all assistance I can possibly get. I live in Wesley Chapel,fl (suburb of Tampa,FL). My doctor changed me yesterday from Percocet 10/325mg to Butrans 20mg and I cannot find this rx anywhere. I am completely out of pain medication and am in immediate need of this rx. Has anyone every filled this rx at any local pharmacies in the Tampa area; if so which pharmacy would possibly have this rx? ## Hi, Janna! How have you been checking for it? If you've been calling around, the pharmacies are going to tell you that they don't carry it or have it in stock, because it's a controlled substance and they have no way of knowing if the person on the other end of the phone is a legitimate customer with a need, or a potential thief. Some pharmacies may also not have any in...

I have been on fentanyl 75 for many years. It's not working anymore. I talked to my pain doc and we have decided to wean down the fentanyl to 25 and then start the butrans patch for pain. Has anyone done a switch from fentanyl to butrans and which do you feel works the best. Do u use anything for breakthrough pain. Does the patch last 7 days. Did you go through a lot of withdrawals. I know this is a lot to answer but I am real scared of changing although the fentanyl doesn't seem to be working as good as it used to, is some relief better than none or should the butrans help? ## Sorry to hear about your challenges with fentanyl. It seems like your doctor should be able to help you make some of those decisions based on their evaluation or assessment of your condition/medical recor...

I have had issues with my lower back since 1980 (When I injured myself) have a couple of surgeries and back in 2003 had a SCS installed (Spinal Cord Stimulant). For period of time the SCS worked well, but as I got older and my Spinal Cord Stenosis got worse the SCS lost its effectiveness. So I was put on a Butrans patch to carry me through as I did not want the surgery and wanted to stay working. Now on the Fentanyl patch (50 mg) and while I will admit it helpful the biggest issue I have is "Hot Flashes" and they are just nuts... So now after reading through all the issues others see I have now decided to go back to the Doc and discuss surgery again and seizure of the vertebrae in lower back. Best of luck to all as I am just feeling safe with all the drugs as there times when I ...

My doctor switched me from Percocet 10/325 to Butrans 15mg. I've been taking the 10/325 for about 6 years. 5-6 pills a day. I am scared to death that the 15mg Butrans is too high? Or that I will go into withdrawal. Please help. Thank you. ## Hi Sparkles, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I could gather, Buprenorphine is listed as the active ingredient in Butrans. This medication can pull Perocet off your receptors (causing withdrawal) if you're not at least somewhat off of it yet, so I can understand why you're probably hesitant to make the switch. If you find this transition to be too difficult, I would even ask your doctor to help you taper down first to make things easier on you. That may end up taking longer, but as you probably know these medications are no ...

I started Butrans 10 mg last Friday. On the following Monday I started to feel dizzy and nausous. Then by Thursday I was dizzy nausous and felt like I was having a hard time breathing. Took the patch off and did not put another one on. I am still feeling dizzy and nausous but I can breathe now!! How long will the dizziness and sick feeling last. I was only on it a week!! ## Hello, Debi! How are you doing? Are you feeling any better? It may take a few days, before the side effects completely wear off and you start to feel more normal. Due to the breathing issue, you most likely did the right thing by taking it off, because it can cause respiratory depression which has the potential of being dangerous. Have you contacted your doctor? You should check with them to be sure that all is well.

I took the last of my doctor prescribed opiates on May 8. I started the patch (Butrans) 5mcg/hr on May 15. I went along fine for a few days, not feeling sick but not completely well either. Then on Monday, May 20 I went shopping and then broke out in a cold, clammy sweat, nose running, stomach cramping......very much like withdrawals but why would they come at this late date???? Doc told me to put on another patch to make it 10mcg and within half an hour I started to feel better and by an hour's time I was fine. Can anyone help me understand what happened? ## There are several factors that can affect how long it takes for a medication to leave your system and for withdrawals to hit. One would be the half-life of the medication in question, though you didn't mention which opiate ...

I read the reviews and I question if they were written by the manufacturer. I was on Butrans. Started on 10 mg and was eventually switched to 20 mg. When I was switched to 20, at least noticed it did something. I was miserable. I had been on hydrocodone and Opana and I was switched to Butrans by pain management dr. I kept begging to be switched back to anything I had been on because Butrans just didn't cut into the pain. I was not given anything for breakthrough pain (I have switched doctors since). Anyway, it was very mild and had serious side effect of depression and I believe some weight gain. Would not recommend it to anyone in chronic severe pain. Had same problem as others in that it does not last for 7 days. I changed doctors and was put on combo of Oxycontin, Nucynta and Tra...
