I was on 10 mg of Brintellix for about 4 months and then my doctor added 10 mg of Rexulti. I felt like i was being stimulated. He then upped my Brintellix to 20 mg and my anxiety went crazy. I was having racing thoughts and couldn't sit still. In my mind i had to be doing something all the time. I also started having panic attacks. This was only over a 2 week period. I then dropped back to 10 mg and cut my rexulti to 5 mg. I told the doctor I wanted to switch back to celexa. He told me to just stop the Brintellix and start the celexa at 10 mg. It's been about 2 weeks now and I still have panic attacks and I wake every morning feeling anxious which last most of the day until the evening. I can't handle this anxiety. I feel amped up. It's like the side effects are continui...

I can't seem to figure out what is the best time to take my trintellix... am or pm. I've been on trintellix for a little over a month and don't sleep very well and stay very tired during the day but I had these problems before I began trintellix so how am I supposed to figure out the best time of day to take it??? I've been taking it at night but switched to taking it in the morning today amd can't tell any change. I just want to take it at the time of day it will help me the most.... Thanks! ## There is really no specific time that is best, it depends on what works for you, the main issue is to just be consistent in taking it regularly. The FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. How long have ...

Today my doc told me to reduce my Zoloft from 100 MG to 50 MG for the next 6 days. On the 7th day I will begin 10 MG of Brintellix in the morning with breakfast. If I experience any sleepiness I should start taking it in the evening. My follow up visit is scheduled for June 29. I have tried many amtidepressants over the years with minimal to moderate success. I hope this is magic bullet. ## don't do it! i have been on ssri meds for over 20 yrs. dr started me on trintellix 3 wks ago. have not been out of the house since then due to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue and more. Now trying to wean off of it but dr and pharmacist are not sure how to proceed with this. i am also imsulin dependent diabetic andy sugars are erratic. terrifying drug at least for me. ## Day 6. Hi everyone, Please can someone help me? 4 weeks ago I increased dosage of brintellix to 20mg (bc I started feeling very low again) after taking 10mg since December and finding improvement. After 4 weeks of still feeling low, I have suddenly started feeling nausea and general sickness. Is this normal after 4 weeks of increased dose? Thanks in advance. The gp I spoke to about increasing had not even heard of the med before so I doubt she would have been able to advise on side effects of increasing unfortunately.. here in uk it's still a relatively new drug. ## Yes, if you increase your dosage, it is normal to experience more side effects for awhile, they usually taper off, after about 4 to 5 weeks, according to NIH reports. You may also experience anxiety, and weight changes. Are you...

I recently had an emergency reaction to Brintellix. The active ingredient is Vortioxetine and it has 532 known drugs that if taken at the same time will cause serotonin syndrome. In my case i had withdrawals changing from one med to another, so i was give an anti-nausea tablet. It turned out this was one of the meds that clashes with Vortioxetine. It is now clear to me that little is known in the Dr community regarding this drug. ## Hi Simon, Sorry to hear about your severe reaction to Brintellix. I agree with you wholeheartedly that our doctors should be taught much more about these types of medications & interactions in school. Unfortunately, this level of education is handed down to pharmacists instead of the physician who prescribes us something for a very specific reason. So wi...

Hello, I am hoping to get some responses on this, I have been going to a pain management clinic for the past 9 months to help with deal with some pain from having discs removed and my neck and back and replaced with metal plates. I go there was a month and get urine drug test they used to somehow determine that I am taking medication as I am suppose to. Till this month I have not had any issues, but on my last screening this week they claim that my urine showed for a trace of morphine. The levels for the pain medication I am prescribed show normal, so I got a big lecture about external drug usage and was told i was but thrown from the program is it happened again. The only thing different I can think of was I was prescribed Brintellix a month ago. All other medications I have been on ha...

Hi. I'm about to switch over to Brintellix from Zoloft. The Zoloft has been good for my depression, but my libido is pretty much non-existent. Do I need to wean completely off the Zoloft before I start the Brintellix? I'm getting mixed messages about this. Anyone have personal experience in taking both while weaning from Zoloft? ## Hello, Dar! How are you? Yes, one should be stopped, before starting the other, unless your doctor has instructed you to do otherwise. Brintellix is a little different than Zoloft, the FDA classifies it as an atypical antidepressant, it's a serotonin modulator and stimulator. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth and unusual dreams. You should also be made aware that it can cause problems ...

I've been taking Brintellix (10 mg) for 18 days now. I was taking Effexor and then the generic version Venlafaxine since 2008 and was interested in a new medication. I thought that the Venlafaxine made me gain weight, not sure. So, since taking this Brintellix, I've been VERY groggy, and sleepy. Been having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, and sleep later than usual. Hard to have energy to do things throughout the day. Does this go away with time? Overall, the medication works fine, however this sleepiness is too much. ## Hello, Sheva! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The excessive drowsiness may be due to stopping the other, coupled with side effects from starting the Brintellix. As listed by the FDA, other possible side effects...

I have been on Trintellix 20 mg for quite some time, my pshychiatrist started tapering me off gradually ,during this process i experience several symptoms that were listed but also noticed problems of paronoia and now that i have stopped taking trintellix the paronoia has sky rocketed as well as the anxiety and vomiting has anyone experienced a problem with paronoia while being TAPERED OFF of trintellix or once they completely STOPPED taking trintellix? ## That is possible, depending on how long you were taking it and how rapid the taper was, it might have been too fast for you. In many cases, stopping such a medication needs to be tapered very slowly, and occasionally, it must be adjusted according to how each individual reacts to the taper. The NIH also warns that stopping the medicat...

Recently (within the last 24-hours) I was FINALLY taken off my Effexor. My blood pressure has been terribly high (189/99 yesterday) for at least two years and I always suspected it was related to my Effexor. My first day off Effexor, my blood pressure was down to 132/75. The Effexor was replaced with 10mg of Brintellix. Sweet lord.... I cannot remember the last time I was, or have ever been, so violently ill. I was sick for HOURS. I tried to replenish my fluids. I was not successful. Well, more accurately, I was able to get some fluids down but they quickly reappeared. I read the enclosed product information and 100% of the Brintellix website. I was unable to find information about splitting the tablets. I realize there is a 5mg tablet, as a dosing option. However, I'm returning bac...

I was prescribed this for anxiety and it is working very well for me. I have been through several drugs and for the first time I felt hopeful. I went to denist and found out this medication is sending my blood pressure through the roof. No issues with blood pressure prior to this. This was the only change. I'm really scared to get off it. Is there anything that I can do? ## Are you sure it's due to this medication? Elevated blood pressure is not a listed side effect among FDA or user reports. They typically include symptoms, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. It is always possible to develop high blood pressure, without being aware of it and there isn't always an direct cause to attribute it to. Does anyone else in your family hav...

I took this med for 2 months 10mg/day and now my OCD reduced a lot and i feel really good like never happened before. I also noticed my reflexes, concentration and energy became higher. I don t have anymore problems to see fast objects, i can understand a lot better spoken foreign languages that i m studying and i go running without doing too much efforts like before. According to my experience and according to Lundbeck that says that Brintellix can help patients improve cognitive function, I was wondering if it s considered a prohibited substance in professional level sports. Thanks for attention and who wants to answer me. ## Can someone answer me please? I really would like to return to playing tennis but i don't know if i can. ## WORLD ANTI-DOPING CODE (INTERNATIONAL STANDARD) P...

I started on 5mgs of Brintellix in February. All my anxiety was gone after the first few days but my depression remained bad. I gradually brought my dose up to 20mg 6 weeks ago and yesterday my depression was almost gone. I also have roller-coaster downs on this tab. Hopefully it's kicked in. The only thing is I can't sleep. I take Zolpidem 10mg at 12am and Urbanol 10mg when I wake up at 3:30am. My sleep is restless as I look after my mom and dad in their 80's. My mom has silent stroke dementia, so my day is very stressful. I'm in a bad mood which is not normal for me but think it's stress from caring for my folks. I keep thinking I should try going off Brintellix and see if I'll do any better... ## Most of the medications in this class can cause that for a few w...

I just switch from 225mg of Effexor to trintellix 10mg & I am used to taking my meds in the morning when I get to work but am having really bad nausea for most of the day. I want to switch to taking it before bed but I don't want to mess up the rhythm. Any thoughts? ## Unless your doctor, or pharmacist instructs otherwise, you can usually make a clean switch, as long as it is within about 24 hours of the prior dosage. The FDA warns that this medication may cause nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes. Are you on any other medications? Some people do take it at night, to avoid experience the nausea, drowsiness, and dizziness during the day.

Hi, I've been prescribed brintellix for the treatment of depression almost a year ago. I took 5 mg for a week, then up to 10 mg for two weeks, then up to 15, itching started so went back to 10 and then I got sick of this med so I dropped it alltogether. All in all, I took for 4-5 weeks. When I stopped taking it I started experiencing withdrawal symptoms similar to withdrawal from Effexor: Brain zaps, permanent agitation, permanent anger, inability to concentrate, stiff muscles. I think that these symptoms decreased somewhat but they're not fully gone and I'm still experiencing them almost a year later(!). Did someone else react in a similar manner? Was permanent brain damage caused? I don't know what to do and I certainly can't go on living this way. Thank you ## How...

Hello, I am from Greece. l lost my father 2 months ago and my mother took cipralex. The doctor said to take brintellix 5mg, but she hasn't started it yet because it's difficult to find it here. I am afraid of possible side effects. Can you please tell me what to do? Thank you very much. ## Hi. I'm from Louisiana & started taking 10 mg brintellix for a month then 20mg next month. Made me more depressed & suicidal, then ended up in a nut house & all my doc said was I'm sorry. Really?! It's like effexor & I can't take that but the doctor wouldn't listen.

I have been taking 10 mg of brintellix for 7 weeks my doctor gave me samples and yesterday wrote me a prescription my insurance doesn't cover it and I can't afford it living on disability will I have withdrawals? I'm scared I have been through a lot in the last year. I'm not even sure if I should be on an antidepressants I have hyperthyroidism and Graves disease they haven't got my thyroid levels straight yet which could be the cause of all of my problems I don't know what to do?? I'm scared of withdrawal ## Hello, Nichole! How are you doing? You won't get severe withdrawals, like someone would if they were abusing a narcotic and suddenly stopped taking it. Antidepressant withdrawals include dizziness, body aches, drowsiness, diarrhea, irritability and mo...

Hi, I was hoping that I may find some people to with similar symptoms after taking Brintellix. 25th of June I began Brintellix on 10mg, then on the 19th of August I increased Brintellix to 20mg During that time I seemed to have few negative side effects. However as of the 31st of October I found myself Vomiting, and have been nauseated ever since. And yesterday (the 14th of November) I found myself vomiting again. I rarely get sick, and have not vomited in years until this year. Ultrasound normal blood tests normal no abnormal temperature and no diarrhea. Thanks in advance ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? I'm sorry that you're feeling so ill. This medication can cause that as a side effect in some people that take it, according to the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, dry m...

I have been on brintellix 10mg for a little over a week and I feel worse. Flu symptoms, vomiting, very weak, tired but can't sleep. I feel more aggitated as well. It's scary. ## Hello, Rochelle! How are you feeling? All of those symptoms can be normal side effects of this medication as reported by the FDA. However, if they are so bad that they are scaring you, it may be time to contact your doctor about trying a different medication. Not every medication is right for everyone that tries it. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I just really don't like the way I feel and the anxiety is not any better. I just plain don't feel good and don't know whether to keep going with it or not. Thank you ## I've been on Brintellix for 1.5 months and experienced vomiti...

I went from lexapro to Prozac. Prozac made me worse. Today I was prescribed Brintellix. I am terrified of taking Medicine and what it could do to me.. would it be okay to break .5mg in half just to see how I do? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's dosing instructions, thus you should ask, and if they approve, it should be fine to do so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, anxiety, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What time of the day is best to take Trintellix? In the morning or at night ?
