This tablet is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline and they list it as a 4mg Avandia tablet, which is used to treat diabetes. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain, diarrhea and low blood sugar. Is there anything else I can help with?

avandia and weight gain

avandia would cause weight gain. why and how? well, it increases the bodies sensitivity to insulin!! if this happens your body will 'tell' the liver and muscle cells to take in glucose and store it in the form of glycogen, and causing fat cells to take in blood lipids and turn them into triglycerides. I hope this helps, Ive tried to make a rather complicated subject more user friendly lol ## It is not wise to take avandia with any form of insulin or nitrates!!!!!! and IF rapid wieght gain occurs seek medical advise asap!

I've been on Metformin for 9 months and have gained weight even though it is suppose to help lose weight. Has anyone else had this problem and/or does avandia help? ## Yes, I have gained everything back that I had worked so hard to lose, 15 lbs. My doc says it isn't the Avandia, but you can't convince me. I started gaining after I was put on it. ## I HAVE ALSO BEEN ON METFORMIN FOR YEARS...WHEN I STARTED THIS MED IT DID MAKE ME GAIN WEIGHT ALSO....EVEN THOUGH DOCTORS SWEARS IT DOESNT...IT DIDI ## My husband lost from a size 46 to 40 doctor put him on avandia and in one month he gained back up to size 46. His new weight docter told him to get off of the avandia becuase it does cause weight gain and even states so in the avertisement.
