Aurobindo Pharma Venlafaxine Vs Teva And Zylus Combination
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have never been successful on the Aurobindo Venlafaxine. I have tried a combo of Teva (150mg) and Zylus (37.5 mg) for 30 days to great success. I want to take the generic version as the brand is over $1000 for 90-days, with insurance. I got the 30-day's worth locally at Publix to try it. Now I’ve received the 90-day prescription from the mail and it’s the Aurobindo brand. Could there be a difference? The one thing my dr is doing this time is she has increased the dosage by 37.5 mg. I don’t know if that is why it’s working or if it’s that it’s NOT the Aurobindo brand? I would greatly appreciate any opinions.

Re: T (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

My new refill for Venlafaxine is aurobindo. I figured i would give it a try as it is so difficult to speak to the pharmacy concerning this. I had a day of "derealization" at work which was either due to Covid brain fog issues or the Aurobindo, either way, I truly thought I would need to be admitted to a psychiatric floor at my hospital. Tomorrow I am going to my pharmacy, if no luck, I'm going to a privately owned pharmacy on Monday. We have enough difficult issues, it's too much to continue fighting for the correct generic. God knows we can't afford the brand.
God, please help us!!!!

Just experienced the effect of switching manufacturers/brands - went from Veve to Auro and felt like my brain was going to explode. Pain in my head like never before and nausea. I knew instantly it was the pills as these new ones are slightly different looking - also had Pharmasist note on my file to only use specific brand.

Re: Ktb (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I had this exact same experience many years ago with Teva's generic. It almost destroyed me but I knew it was the generic. That's when I also found out how different all the generics were. So I went back to name brand. I was scared to try another one. Finally after 10 years I decided to give it a try last year. It was from Aurobindo. I was successful with no side effects! They tried changing mfg. on me several times at pharmacy on refills.I told them to make a note in my file to only order Aurobindo. I also just discovered (through more research) Pfizer got licensed with them in 2009 & that's who mfg. my original RX, so maybe that's why this one worked for me. It looks exactly the the original capsule unlike the others. I also found out the additives & such don't work from some people because it doesn't work with a person's chemistry & prevents the drug from getting into there system. I agree 100% that all our drugs should be mfg. in USA. I don't understand how all these sub-par generics are allowed in our country. Americans pay astronomically higher prices than any other country. The pharmaceutical companies are totally out of control with their prices in this country. Something needs to be done about it. Does anybody know how other countries are able to control the prices?

Re: Sarah (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

Same thing happened to me in December. I am now back on the name brand Effexor XR and feeling better but I will go broke paying for it. I was on name brand for several years then Teva for a few months and did fine then received a bottle from Aurobindo and have struggled terribly. Im going to check on the Effexor savings card and if it doesn’t help then I’m going to see if I can get Teva again. Aurobindo made me think I was crazy!

Re: Sarah (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

Your reaction could definitely be to the fact that you were switched to a new generic brand. I went through withdrawal on the auobindo brand. The fact that there is little monitoring of the various generic drugs is almost criminal, due to how it affects so many people in a very detrimental way.

I was on Teva and got switched to Aurobindo (150 mg xr). I broke my ankle and went through an awful depression that made me have suicidal thoughts. I switched back to Teva and have not had a problem.

Re: Beth (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

So glad I am seeing a recent response to this thread. My pharmacy switched to Aurobindo Effexor XR as well. It had always been Teva. It has been about 1 month since the switch and I don't know if it is the dark winter blues or this Aurobindo but i am just so depressed and lost. I have tried to find a pharmacy that has Teva but cannot find any. I am tired of how hard everything is... I hate being on meds and hate when they are changed with and no heads up or explanation that there might be a noticeable difference... It really pisses me off. Tell me I'm not nuts and that my sadness could be due to this med brand switch!!

I had a horrible reaction to the AUROBINDO brand of Effexor xr. It is so frustrating. I was on the Greenstone brand for a couple years and it was great. But Pfizer stopped manufacturing it. Generics are life altering.

Re: Sassy Yassie (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Im with you 100%. Latest lie (nationwide) is that I can no longer get an EPI pen. I will NOT take one from overseas. INSTEAD, IWILL GO TO ER EVERYTIME. These med changes are part of Trumpcare / he's "cutting drug prices". See how much cheaper an ER is VS an EPI.

Hoorah!!! Thank you!!! I could not have said it better. After researching individually and finding that, so far, seven of my meds are made by Aurobindo in India, I have stopped taking all of my medications. Yes, I am sure there is withdrawal going on, but they were making me sick anyway. I found FDA reports identifying things in these meds which you would not believe. One was "unacceptable" organisms. What? Are some acceptable? Toxins. Meds not made to specification. Little to no active ingredient included. Binding agents causing symptoms up to, and including, anaphylactic shock. The FDA knows and has known, about this. Can anyone find a way to get this to an effective media outlet which is not censored? YouTube?

Research Aurobindo Pharmaceutical Companies, and others outside of the United States. That should answer any concerns ANYONE may have about the horrific drugs we are being forced to consume. It's unreal the DEA and FDA is allowing these companies to poison us!!

Do your research people, be very careful what pharmacies and drug companies you use!! It's your body, your health that's being compromised to, "save you money ". What kind of "special stupid" do they really think we are?

Come on America, stand up, speak up, and be heard!!! If these generics are so dangerous, making everyone sick, feeling different, nauseous, sending you to E.R. . . . .then we need to ban generic drugs!! Demand the pharmaceutical company that makes the original prescriptions, demand safer drugs, demand the rights to protect your health!!

And tweet our President to incorporate all drugs to be made in the USA only! Quality control must be in place, and drug companies closely monitored.

This must stop now to protect our health!!

Please contact your FDA, DEA, State Senators, doctors, or anyone who may listen. Definitely not your local pharmacist, they know what's really going on, but need their jobs!!

In addition to the lack of quality and safety to our health, have your noticed how often your drug company changes each time your script is filled? It's always the same excuse.

It's not one particular drug, it's many of them, but mostly narcotics type prescriptions. Would enjoy seeing if others have noticed the changes? Get out of denial, do something about it!!

Thank you for reading this, if they post it.

Ban generics!!!

They are killing us!!

Re: Marv (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

I am noticing a lot is made overseas! And god only knows what's truly in them! I noticed some people that took hydrocodone experienced effects from a new brand and they said it didn't work as well as the old brand they were using. I'm not certain the brand they were speaking of but it made them sick. I wish I could request all name brand because why make it if they aren't going to prescribe it! I just think it's dangerous to ignore patients and change suppliers not knowing how each patient may react. Everything is just getting crazy!

Aurobindo, in my opinion, is THE worst generic made. They have been written up 5 times in last year by the FDA for various reasons, and yet they are still in business. And actually it is Zydus, not Zylus, and they like Aurobindo are suspect, and all made in India! Teva isn't the top in generics, but I feel definitely better than the other two, and I think they're made in India as well. I don't think you can find a generic med. actually made in the U.S. anymore, they're all outsourced overseas because of the almighty $$$. It's getting scary, and I believe right down dangerous to be taking these generics. And you're right in that the same generic med. from different labs are not the same, and do not always work in the same way. I just got a refill, it was also a generic made in Bangladesh!! We're Big Pharma's money pot, and they don't care about anything else. If a generic med does make you sick, doesn't work as it should, or gives you unusual side effects from others, file a complaint with the FDA!

I'm not familiar with that brand of medication but I do know that every generic is different formula because I suffered on a brand made by teva .i wasn't told that genetics had a 5-7% difference and each company has their own formula . Whenever I was switched to a different generic my medication worked and I felt like a new person .. if you research it even states that some people can be allergic to certain generics . Your taking same drug and FDA has to approve it but the fillers and dyes used are different and doesn't agree with everyone . Everything made by teva I just can't take . The itching stopped too!! I'm sensitive to a lot of things but anybody who wants to argue facts about generics being made the same just hasn't experienced the odd side effects or done research . I'm also proof there's difference. I mean I needlessly suffered due to whatever ingredients were used in teva brand . I read some pain meds haven't worked and people are told there's no difference but there is !!! So if I were you I'd ask for a different brand if yours isn't working properly . I can't believe how much is hidden from people on ingredients. Like smuckers and dollar store jelly , their both jelly but made different! Good luck to you and I hope someone has better answer to help .
