Asthma And Copd Remedies For Coughing

Updated

I'm 70 years old with asthma. Where I'm staying there's pine trees starting to flower which makes it really hard to cough up phlegm from my chest at different times at night. Anyone have any clues on how to make coughing easier? It makes me feel exhausted and also stressed out about catching covid. I'm in Australia and my Dr is away on holiday.

Just about every night I have to get out of bed and try to clear my throat. Does anyone know what I can do to make it easier to clear my throat? I've tried otc cough medicines and they don't seem to do anything. Any info would be really appreciated. I find coughing is exhausting and my wife of 30 yrs who is suffering from memory loss and extreme weight gain says she doesn't hear me coughing, but if I open up the fridge up to try and make myself a coffee or tea she suddenly wakes up... help.

You might be helped simply by reducing the amount of mucus your body is making. That would include curtailing consumption of ALL sugars both fruit and table, and soda of course, nuts, dairy, and refined flour and baked goods.

If you have asthma you might consider making an exception to the sugar elimination by consuming a little local made honey (1 teaspoon p/day). The closer the honey producing hive is to your home the better. There is almost no benefit to honey raised outside your botanical domain. Know your beekeeper. There's a lot of fake stuff out there.

Hello, Lou! I'm sorry to read about what you're dealing with, allergies can be miserable.

Are you currently on any medications, or your asthma, or anything else? What remedies may help could be affected by your medications.

Have you tried something as simple as cough drops? Or antihistamines?

Here's some allergy mitigation tips from the Mayo Clinic that can help.

I reside on the North Coast of NSW. At 70 years old, I've noticed that the intense summer heat we are experiencing is causing me to have worse breathing issues and more coughing. Is anyone else with COPD/asthma encountering similar problems?

Re: VerFree (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you for your reply. My wife and I are currently in a difficult situation, as we are living in a temporary pod. It's essentially a container with windows and doors etc. We've resorted to this because my house is still undergoing repairs from flood damage that incurred two years ago, which includes mold removal and wall replacement among other things. Renting an alternative space is not an option as a lot of properties were damaged in the flood and as a result, there's a scarcity of rentals available. My insurance company has been quite slow in carrying out the repairs and they might only be completed by September, at best. Adding to our already burdened situation is my wife experiencing memory problems and recently being diagnosed with diabetes. She rarely hears me whenever I'm coughing, even though we live in a tiny, temporary dwelling. The weather is also starting to heat up, which made last night particularly tough for us. Additionally, the ongoing pandemic further limits my access to medical assistance. Even scheduling a regular visit to see my doctor seems challenging. Moreover, I am reluctant to visit hospitals out of fear of contracting a virus. Thank you again for your concern. Right now, we just feel really uncertain about what to do and are just waiting to see the doctor soon.
