Ardosons - What Is It For?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Hi, I was today prescribed Ardosons for acute pain and inflammatory process of the joint on my middle right finger. I made it clear to the physician that I have blood high pressure and that I was subject to a cateterism on 2006 due to ischemic peripheral vessels. He recommended 1 capsule for four days (with meals) only, however I found that this drug is not indicated for people with blood high pressure and persons with a cardiac history. Could you please advise if I should have these pills or not? I would deeply appreaciate your advice. Best regards.

Re: Myr (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Glad I could be helpful. Good thing you got that second opinion! Anything that causes hypertension and fluid retention cannot be good for people with cardiovascular issues! Short term it probably wouldn't hurt you but why risk it, right!?

Re: Mason (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you very much for your advice. In fact I called another doctor and he warned me seriously on NOT taking the drug. It was good for me to check on the internet about this drug (as I usually do after being prescribed any drug treatment) once I got home. I was and I still am a bit annoyed and deeply surprised that after informing the physician on my hypertension and my cardiac ailment he would dare to prescribe me such a drug. He recommended 1 capsule per day (with food) for a 4-day time period. Once again thanks for your attention and advice.

Regarding what Mason has posted, his information is correct.

As to taking it, if you have high blood pressure, and/or a cardiac condition, it really depends on your condition. It you are under control, you might be able to take it, as directed by your doctor, but you shouldn't take it for a long period of time, and you should only do so, if your doctor is monitoring you regularly.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, hypertension, and increased risk of bleeding.

I'm not sure what the FDA or American equivalent is of Ardosons. It seems this is typically a South American prescribed medication. It's also known as Artridol.

I found that Ardosons contains: These ingredients together are touted for their use in treating conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, as well as other types of mild to moderate pain.

Based on the ingredients I would say that this formulation would definitely pose a risk for those with hypertension and/or cardiovascular ailments. Perhaps you should seek a second opinion as far as whether or not to take this medication. I would err on the side of caution and say to NOT take it.
