I have a friend who had Injectofee along with B12 shots. She had gastric bypass 15 yrs ago. She had not one problem with the injectafer. I had Venofer 2 yrs ago and did super. Having another series of Venofer... 3rd one next week. I space them 10 days apart. I don't want a load of anything shoved in me every other day. Too much for body to deal with. And I have slow drip for an hour. You can ask for an hour and a half. I take Benadryl on way to Infusion and another when I get seated in the chair. I take another Benadryl before I go to sleep and one or two a day for a few days aftward just to keep my immune system from fighting the iron. From my research online and patient reviews...I would opt for the Venofer. It's been used for many years and so few ppl have reactions with it t...

I am having some side effects from the iron infusion that a I had a few day ago. These side effect include exhaustion, nausea, metallic taste in my mouth and major flu like symptoms. I have another infusion in less than a week. How long does it take to for symptoms to pass? I am so scared to go again on Tuesday. I would appreciate any information in regards to these issues. Thank you. ## Hello, Kimberly! How are you? Unfortunately, some side effects might not ever go away, which can be the major drawback of iron infusions. Some people do end up with lifelong joint pain, muscle aches and etc. as reported by the FDA. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it is a possibility, so you may want to discuss it with your doctor, before the next infusion. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

I had a gastric bypass in 2001. I have anemia now and someone told me that in order for iron to be absorbed, there must be presence of acid in stomach. After bypass there is no gastric acid present. Is this true? Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how is it treated ## If there were no gastric acid, then you would not be able to digest and absorb any food/nutrients. I suggest you speak to your doctor. ## You have plenty of acid. Enough that acid ate thru my staple line, ate 6 holes in my pouch and stomach, and I take 3 Rx of antacids. ## From what I've read, iron does need gastric acid to be absorbed. The way my surgeon explained it (14 years ago), the part of the stomach used to make the pouch is less elastic and produces less acid. And, my GI doctor said the bypassed part...

Please identify ## I also found a small black pill with L1 what is it??? ## Small round black and smooth with L1 or LI is normally an iron supplement taken usually by those with an iron deficiency or anemic people. ## The closest I have been able to find, so far, is a brown tablet distributed by Topco Associates, which they list as being brown and containing 200mgs of Ibuprofen. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding. I was not able to find described as being black. Braun, is that possibly an over the counter supplement? Does anyone else know?

What if any side affects does ferro-tab 200 mg have. thankyou ## From what I could gather, Ferro-tab is an iron supplement for those who may be low in iron or anemic. The only side effects I've found on this supplement is that it may cause nausea, stomach upset, dark stools, and possibly constipation. If taken as directed, it's possible that you may not even experience these side effects at all. I hope this helps! ## Thanks very much David it did help. Regards Molly ## Can H-Pylori positive patients take Ferro-Tab(200mg)? If yes then how much?

Does anyone know if the venofer infusion is made with a sugar substitute? I am epileptic and have a sugar substitute seizure trigger among other things. I recently started venofer and have my 4th infusion tomorrow for my anemia. I have had increased seizure activity and headaches, as well as an upset stomach the day after, to where I cannot leave the house. Any info will be helpful. Thank you. ## I didn't find any listed as being in it, according to the manufacturer's website. My husband is allergic to them, so I am always on the look out for them under their various names and forms. Headaches can be a normal side effect, according to FDA reports, the seizure activity is listed as being due to the possibility of being hypersensitive to it. Have you informed your doctor of the is...

I recently had an infusion of 500mil of diluted ferric carboxymaltose 13 days ago. Since then I have experienced sever fatigue and weakness, loss of appetite, difficult bowel movements , unusal anxiety and loss of consciousness. I previously had an infusion of venofer and experienced no side effects. My question is mainly to do with loss of consciousness which was experienced 13 days after the injection. Could a link be made ? Or has there been too much time between the infusion and the said incident? I have another infusion booked and am unsure whether or not to proceed . ## Hello, Emma! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about what you've experienced. The fatigue, loss of appetite, constipation and anxiety are all listed as possible side effects to iron infusions by the FDA. Ho...

can i use venofer for my houseplants ## Hi I was diagnosed with anemia since 2012 but the experience I'm having from first time use of treatment was tiredness, bad taste in mouth. After the infusion I received I had so many different side effects: unbearable aching throbbing pain and the next day I experienced back ache / severe pains as well that was controlled by pain medication.

I am 28 years old and for a long time i have had problems with my eye. It always looks yellow and my urine is yellow but when i drink more water they both become normal. So I went to lot of doctors in london and they have also done all my evaluations including ultrasound, LFT, Hipatitus, but they treat nothing. Now my issue is never my skin being yellow nor do I feel any pain in my abdomen; no illness. I eat good, no weakness, a little fatigued, but my bilirubin is normally high in all diagnostics. No hepatitis was detected either. So is it symptoms of Gilber's Syndrome or hemoplytic anemia? Please advise me regarding what this is and how i can treat it?

Not having any other medications except vitamin c. My doctor started me on a dose of 150mcg thyroxine sodium. I had my first infusion on Friday. I am having another one this coming Friday. My blood pressure has been very high and I feel awful especially in the mornings. As the day progresses, I seem to start to feel better. How long until all of these side effects stop? I also have a lot of pressure in my head at times. Not a full headache but just pressure. I wonder if it is all worth it. My ferritin level was only 5 so it was necessary. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you feeling? These infusions usually cause low blood pressure, not high. How high has it been? You should have it checked out. It is especially concerning, with the pressure you're feeling in your head. The FDA lists the infusions normal side effects as possibly including dizziness, faintness, bloating and chest pain. ## I was giv...

In October 2016 my Iron was a 8 and my Ferratin was a 4. Was given two 15 minute sessions of Injectafer. Each infusion I had common side effects which led me to taking Benadryl to help cope for a couple days after. A little over a week from my last infusion, Nov. 28th, my iron was raised to a 10 and my ferratin is well. However, from October to November my alkaline phosphatase levels went through the roof (was just informed this nearly a month after my last infusion). I was told it's 3x its normal values. My doctor is very concerned and is giving me a mass of tests, told me to stop taking all my vitamins (I had GBS 7 yrs ago and suffer from Vitamin A & D deficiency) until this is resolved. However, upon reading, raised blood alkaline phosphatase can be caused in >.1% of pati...

Hi, I had an iv injectafer infusion 5 days ago and I have been getting major hot flashes every hour or two ever since. My doctor said this isn't a side effect and maybe it's menopause, but my period stopped a year ago. I'm supposed to get another next Monday but I'm soaking and freezing so bad it wakes me up and is embarrassing and super uncomfortable at work. Anyone else go thru this? Is there anything I can do? Thank you ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? Actually, the FDA lists that as being a common side effect that is experienced by up to 10% of the people receiving this infusion. They list flushing, hot flashes, and sweating. Unfortunately, most doctors are not aware of all the possible side effects that a medication might cause, because they are not required to study t...

I was diagnosed with anemia following a recent blood test. I was given ferrous sulphate tablets to increase my iron levels. When I started them, and for the first time, I got really bad flatulence and belching, which felt that it was started from below my stomach (it smelt and tasted like that!) As it was so antisocial, I stopped taking the tablets, and the problem went away. The only trouble is that, now, if I eat anything which is iron rich (like red meat), I get the same problem. Is there anything I can do to stop these embarrassing outbursts, other than not eating iron-rich foods?

Hi im taking Redotex for a month and a week. I lost 14 pounds now but this past 2 days my stomach feels ill like an upset stomach ache. I thought it was because of something I ate, a lot of chili. But I have been feeling weak, my body hurts, and I am a bit bloated. I have dry mouth, anyone experience the same? And can I intake vitamins with Redotex since my eating is very poor now and I might have anemia? ## Hello, Jen! How are you? The FDA issued an import alert about Redotex awhile ago, because it was found to contain undeclared drug ingredients, in a possibly dangerous combination. Their lists includes a hormone, a stimulant, a respiratory/circulatory stimulant, a laxative, and benzodiazepine depressant. They have banned it in the U.S. I'm thinking that those ingredients likely e...

My wife, age 24yrs suffered by happen menstrual bleeding fifteen days interval, doctor prescribed ferenia xt for remedies in this problem. ..is it is correct for her? ## Hello, Arun! How is your wife doing? Has there been any change? This is a nutritional supplement, so it can help prevent her from becoming anemic, due to the prolonged bleeding, but it won't actually do anything to help stop it. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea and constipation. Is she still bleeding? Does she take any other medications?

can med pass cause diarrhea? I am taking about 9 ounces a day. I am anemia anc have cancer. ## Hello, Cedarcraw! How are you doing? Yes, it contains magnesium which is listed by the FDA as possibly causing nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, in some people. Are you on chemotherapy? Some chemotherapy agents can also cause diarrhea, so you may be experiencing a double whammy.

I had my first Injectafer infusion. I felt ok during it except a little sleepy. Then about an hour later I had extreme nausea and just had to go to bed and sleep through it. The next day the nausea had passed but that was not enjoyable. ## I'm sorry that you felt so ill, however, the can be a normal side effect of such infusions, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. It might be best to ask your doctor what you can take for the nausea in the future to try to prevent it. Is there anything else I can help with?
