When I first started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), I was put on Androgel - but i didn't like the way the alcohol dried out my skin and the fact that it took up to 5-6 hours for complete absorption before I could shower. So, after much research, I decided to switch to Testim (for the record I was on 2 tubes per day (same as Androgel). That would be 10mg/day My body responded to Testim so much better that I would never recommend another gel testosterone to anyone. First of all, you can shower 2 hours application and it will still have full effect. Second, my lab tests before Androgel were a dismal 200ng/dl, After 3 months at two pouches of Androgel daily, they had increased to only about 550ng/dl. Then Testim entered my life, And even through it wasn't fully covered by my ins...

My Dr. prescribed 1.62% pump after I complained about excessive tiredness. Test results showed my T level to be 1/2 the recommended minimum. After using three pumps I suddenly regained energy and was no longer sleeping 10 or more hours at night and 3 - 4 hours in the afternoon. However, my latest refill changed instructions. I had been applying the gel to my belly but now the instructions say to only apply to shoulders and upper arms. I have done this for a week and my lack of energy and long periods of sleep have returned. Should I ignore the new instructions and apply to my belly as that worked best for me? Why did they change the instructions? I am 73. I noticed there was no increase in libido although that was not why it was prescribed.

After 2 months of use i've noticied ankle feet swelling and increased edginess. Anyone one els? i use 3 pumps per day. ## From other T injection forums, this is an estrogen issue that can be handled with estrogen blockers. More common with T injections as they deliver so much all at once. ## I believe Dankster is partially on the right track, the weight gain and fluid retention are due to estrogen. When you supplement a hormone back, it tends to wake up the estrogen receptors in your body, so things go kind of crazy for awhile and yes, an aromatase inhibitor that blocks estrogen may help, if it's safe for you to use one. However, the edgy feeling is most likely due to the testosterone itself and it just your body adjusting to the higher level of it. The same thing happens to wom...

I am just started to take Andrew gel I wonder how long it will take before I start to feel the effects specifically I need more energy ## I think it all depends on how low your testosterone levels may have been before you started taking Androgel, in order to effectively determine how long it might take to feel it's effects. I would imagine that you should be able to notice at least a subtle change in energy, libido, or mental drive after a few applications. Try giving it a trial run for a week or two just to see how well you respond to it. If you're looking for more energy in the meantime though, I would suggest green tea or black tea a couple times a day, but not too close to bedtime. I hope this helps! ## Thanks got getting back This is my 2nd day and I feel great my focus is ...

Been taking androgel for two months now. Went in to be retested an my # continue to decline. In the low two hundreds now. Dr wants me to double the dose an was wondering how long before this stuff begins to do some good. Haven't seen any improvements from the meds. Should I continue use or try something different. An if so what. Thanks for any answer u can give. ## Hi david, Apparently it can take up to 3-4 months before you realize there has been a significant change. There's actually another discussion thread here on this same topic, that may be able to help address more of your question. Post #3 in particular: Discuss/how-long-does-it-take-to-begin-to-feel-the-effects-of-Andro-Gel-240990.htm I hope this helps!

Been on Androget for three years.Still low libido , much energy, no side effects. My number has been around 1100 for the last year. My last blood test, two week ago it 300. What up with that.? ## Had you changed anything else about your lifestyle? Such as diet, exercise or anything? You can learn more Androgel details here. Did your doctor mention any possible reasons? It's hard to say, since so many things can affect hormones and cause them to fluctuate, even in men. ## I've stopped drinking coffee and have been on Cpap for the last three months. It's is a mild case. Had my TT retested yesterday, will get results in a few days. ## My retest was TT 750. Things are looking up.

I have been using androgel for about 2 months now 1 pump a day. At first life was great I was always horny and always had a rock hard erection. But in the past 2-3 weeks it is almost impossible for me to get an erection. I figure it must have something to do with the gel as that is the only thong that has changed in my life/lifestyle recently. Any thoughts on this or anyone else have the same experience? ## From what I could gather, many webpages are listing "changes in your sex drive" as a possible side effect of Androgel (testosterone gel). You're definitely not alone though. I came across another discussion thread (linked below) where someone else is also experiencing decreased libido from Androgel (Post #3): Discuss/AndroGel-side-effects-241539.htm The decreased libido s...

Just started andro yesterday an i hear people talk about testing. So when do u test an how often my total testosterone was 238 an the free testosterone was 4.8 am currently useing the small 1% pack now. ## When is your next doctor's appointment? They should be letting you know when to come in for testing and how often. It can vary from person to person and may change again, depending on your response to the medication. Learn more Andro details here. ## My health plan only covers 6 months of Androgel or Axiron copay. To stretch out my prescription, I have been thinking of applying the 2X of the gel only on the morning I expect to have late intercourse. Has anyone tried this method? Retail costs are prohibited for me, and there seems to be no other alteratives.

Hello guys. A new lamb for the slaughter here. Just pasted into my forties and have been considering using the Androgel. For good reasons and not just due to my doctors brainwashing. I am so out of the mass media loop that I had no idea low testosterone was a growing problem in men (it's not) or that the corporations have been jambing their cure (it's not for most) down our throats, no pun intended but funny anyway. My advice is get some good rest and excersice, eat a vastly improved diet, even you veggie heads. Almost everyone in our modern society, especially in america, has a really bad diet. 9.7 men especially are actually damaging their biosystem with their diets. The body is stressing out attempting to extract the nutrients it needs from an excess of matter. More energy is...

I have been on 3 pumps per day of 1.62% for about a week. I took it for ED and low libido and fatigue. I know its not that long, but I don't notice anything on fatigue, but I think I have been hornier. Also, when masturbating to computer porn, I think I have been able to get pretty hard erections, harder than before. However, last night tried to have sex with wife, and same old problem, not hard enough to penetrate. It doesn't help that she is about 30-40 lbs overweight, so it is harder to get aroused with her body. Also, probably getting some performance anxiety. Maybe if I had a tablet with computer porn somehow mounted near the bed I could see while having intercourse, it may help. She might be insulted, but if its the only way we can have sex ... ## I feel sorry for both you...

Have been on Androgel 1% for 3 months very low testosterone started with 4 pumps daily very little increase in energy level went to 8 pumps daily, fantastic great energy level, libido terrific numbers went over 700. Dr cut me back to 6 pumps daily, the last 5 days I fell like right back where I started low energy, no erections for 5 days, waiting to hear back from Dr. ## @hawk69, It sounds to me like your body has become more dependent on the Androgel and therefore hasn't felt the need to make enough of it's own testosterone. Suddenly changing doses or the number of pumps is probably what's putting your body back into a state of withdrawal or just feeling "down". I'm no doctor, but in my opinion it may have been wiser to taper down or up in increments of 1 pump a...

I started AndroGel about a month ago and noticed I am have zero erections - no morning wood (excuse the slang). I am taking two 1% packages a day. It seems to have killed everything instead of helping. ## LOL! No need to excuse yourself, as a fully adult female, I've certainly heard much worse in my time. It could be that it's just not the right formulation of Testosterone for you to use, there was another post recently from someone that was using Axiron, which is very similar and it did nothing for them, their levels kept falling. Instead their doctor has to start them on Testosterone injections, which finally helped. Learn more Testosterone details here. Some people just don't seem to absorb it well in these formulations and have to get it in other forms. When will you hav...

Used AndroGel for over four months in 2010 and actually increased my ability to have erections. But at about the four or five month mark I noticed my breast area was growing and suddenly I developed enlarged breasts to the point that I was ashamed to go anywhere without wearing a baggy shirt. I became very depressed and quit using AndroGel. The problem continued and even got worse with regard to the man tits. Help!!! ## Hi Jack, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Based on my research, one of the side effects of AndroGel is breast swelling or tenderness. I assume that in time, the AndroGel will completely leave your system and your chest will reduce to a normal size. If you have any more questions or concerns please post back, I hope this info helps! ## There's a pretty good...

Androgel has raised my t-levels from 143 to 1000, caused me severe night sweats, and has shrunk my testicles by at least 25 percent. Erections are still difficult. Herbal meds work but give me headaches. I quit for 2 weeks. My sack hangs lower, my testicles seem slightly larger, but I am very down mentally. What are my alternatives? Is there such a thing as Androgel cycling? Age 56 -supposedly with a mix of primary and secondary hypogonadism (and gynecomastia / male breasts). ## Your levels sound like they're too high. I had this conversation with my doctor about testicles shrinking with this therapy because it was a great concern to me and he stated that it would not affect my testicles because my t-level was very low at the time and if he kept my levels within range that it would ...

I am on my fourth month of androgel. I have noticed that my hair has gone from a white gray color to a darker color with tones of brown coming back. I am 60 years old and find this strange. Has anyone else noticed this? ## Testosterone and gray hair are not known to be related, but I supposed it's possible that a hormonal imbalance may have cause you to gray more than you naturally would have otherwise. Learn more Androgel details here. Have you made any other changes to your lifestyle, such as adding nutritional supplements, or vitamins? Hi, I am 32 and taking an androgel for the past 3 years as my testosterone was very low in a first place. Now my testosterone level is very high, about 1200. My doctor is saying that since I am on medication that's ok if my levels are high and I am continue on androgel. Would you agree with that or should I get another opinion? ## I really am not familiar with how it works, when you're taking these types of medications, but I do know there can be some issues if it's too high, just like there can be if it's too low. Thus, getting a second opinion, just to be sure would likely be a very smart idea. There's no harm in it, your doctor never even has to know. You could actually just call one of those free health lines and ask, or ask your pharmacist if they know. Learn mo...

Does anyone know of a LEGITIMATE site for Androgel 1% discounts? Or an online pharmacy with lower costs? We're in the donut hole right now and can't really afford the expense. Any suggestions would be appreciated ## You could try using an Rx drug discount card, if you haven't already done so? I would also look into comparing prices for Androgel to make sure you're not over paying. You can compare average prices for this drug by following the link: RX Discount Card Also, if you're considering buying from an online pharmacy, I would recommend checking with sites such as PharmacyChecker, as they only list certified (reputable) online pharmacies. Although I am pretty sure that those pharmacies would require a prescription because PharmacyChecker puts them through a rigor...

HAS ANYONE HAD INCREASED MUSCLE MASS WHILE USING ANDROGEL? ## Testosterone topical gel is used to treat the symptoms of low testosterone in men who do not produce enough natural testosterone. If used in that sense, I believe has been proven that one could build more muscle than when they had low testosterone levels. Many "older" bodybuilders also supplement with testosterone for various reasons, so it's plain to see that it plays a big role in the effectiveness of one's training regimen. Hormones are very sensitive however, so if your taking this supplement for the heck of it and do not have low testosterone levels, you could easily experience more undesirable side effects than it would be worth taking for muscle gain in my honest opinion. More details on this supplement...

HAS ANYONE HAD SUCCESS WITH ANDROGEL IN BODYBUILDING ? ## I personally don't have any background with this supplement, but I did find that there are a few reviews floating around the internet with users discussing how they've reacted to it during the time that they were on it. Although these users report that it's one of the top testosterone drugs on the market, unfortunately they don't list any further reviews on how it can help in the gym. I think that if one needs to supplement with a testosterone drug in the first place, that it will be beneficial for them in bodybuilding no matter what. It goes without saying that not having enough testosterone hormone production can be like having a gun with no ammo when it comes to lifting heavy. Does anyone else have information ...

GEL PACKAGE FOR HORMONE ## Based on my research, this is a topical ointment used to increase your testosterone levels; perhaps for bodybuilding uses or other hormonal imbalance issues. Andro is typically a slang word for anabolic steroids. Personally I wouldn't suggest using it unless you were prescribed it for a serious condition. It appears to be more risky than helpful in many circumstances, not limited to your own health, but also to others who may touch the skin it was applied to. Hope this helps!
