I have been taking 24mg Hydromorph Contin for 3 years now 2 x day This does not work anymore. I was prescribed 50mg Kadian every 24hrs. They take the edge off better but after 18 hrs the pain is worse than when the Hydromorphone started to wear off. Can I take a higher dose or what would be better?

Only your medical professional can help you decide what is safe for you.

The NIH warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

How often were you told to take it? What other medications have you tried? Have you discussed this issue with your doctor?
