You Get Withdrawals From Taking Oxycodone

I have been prescribed oxycodone 30 MG's for about 4 years 1 to 2 a day. I decided on the 11th of this month enough is enough! I hated the daily routine in order not to be sick for the day that I had to continue to take them. I became committed to do this for myself and children especially. They don't need a part of me they need all of me. I live in Az and it is harder and harder to come by. I could never see myself putting a needle in me and becoming a junkie. The problem that I am experiencing is that the symptoms continue to linger on, still really sick. When will the days get better? Seems it stays the same. ## Hello, Stef! How are you feeling? Has there been any change? When I went off of my pain management medications cold turkey, after being on them for several years, I f...

I have just switched from oxycodone to fentanyl patches. I will be withdrawing from them following sugery. any suggestions as to which is easier to withdraw from? Thanks!!! ## Well, the Fentanyl is actually much stronger than the Oxycodone, a 0.025mg dosage of it is equal to 5mgs of Oxycodone, so it is going to be the harder one to withdraw from, if it is stopped abruptly. However, the other fact of relevance is how long you will be using it. If it is only for a short period of time, them the withdrawals may not be too rough, though they may still be annoying. Has your doctor provided you with any advice? ## i have been on fentanyl for a long time. prior to this was on a bunch of oxycodone. to give you an idea i was taking anywhere to 3 or 4 of the 80s per day and 5 or 6 of the Roxi 30s...

I take up to 3, 30 mg a day of oxycodone. I'm trying to stop but don't want to get sick. To start off, if I take 30 mg of morphine will I withdrawal? I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone but I really want to stop, so if there are any ideas on how to stop the withdrawals or tame it I'm up for all suggestions. ## Oxycodone is 1 and a half times stronger than Morphine, so yes, you may still experience withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. A slow taper is usually the best method to stop taking it. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your prescriber for assistance? ## No, I have not consulted a doctor, I'm trying to do it myself. I'm trying to taper down righ...

I was wondering if anyone might help. I have been off my pain meds for 30 days now. I was taking about 320mg of oxycodone and 4-4mg Dilaudid a day. I quit cold turkey and havent had any meds in 30 days. It's been the worst month ever but believe it or not I am feeling much better. Im not having any more withdrawal symptoms. I am hurting very bad today in my neck where the problem is. I am wondering if I take a half or even a half of a half does anyone know if the withdrawal symptoms will come back. I definitely don't want to go through that again. I don't want the meds anymore I am just got to do something for the day to be able to move. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ## I'm pretty sure once you have a tolerance it stays that way for along time. It did...

I have been in pain management for years, lost my doctor along with other patients, and primary won't fill or says she can't and messes up my progress to get in new pain management in time. Now I'm losing Soma, was 3 times a day, now I have 7 tabs left. Was on 45 mg of morphine 3 times, oxycodone 15s and xanax 5 mg 3 times a day. Which she said she can not write for. Why, if she knew or thought this pain clinic was prescribing more than standard, did she never say a word until i had to go to her in desperation for this? Your primary that has to refer you and get info to get into a new pain clinic, I have very serious health issues no one is dealing with, I feel alone and suicidal. I even told my doctor and the old pain clinic staff that left, and not a bit of help, yet they ...

Is is possible to have withdrawals from hydrocodone, even though I am now taking oxycodone? Bad sleep, short of breath, anxiety, extremely tired. I thought I was sick, but I recall feeling like this when I was going off another addictive medication. I take klonopin to help me sleep, but want to take a hyrocodone right now to see if my anxiety will ease up...Any suggestions? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? No, Oxycodone is slightly stronger than Hydrocodone, so you shouldn't be experiencing withdrawals. Those same side effects could be due to starting the new medication, though. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have they eased up? ## I had a total hip ...

I was on liquid Methadone for chronic pain for years and while on waiting list to switch to a new Pain center, I was weaning off methadone rapidly at 2mgs a day from 120 to 38mg. I was also on 20 to 40 mgs a day oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Now, last month, my new doc put me on 25mcg/h patch. Yesterday, he informed me that I am now ONLY getting pain management from him (understandable) and cut me off and did not prescribe any more oxycodone and I was to stop at 38mgs methadone. Bottom line, will a 50mcg/h patch I started today be enough for my pain and withdrawals? I am scared. ## Did you discuss your concerns with him? The Fentanyl is a very strong narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine actually, but while it can handle pain very well, you may still experience some breakthr...

I've been taking oxycodone 10 mg for the last five months. Today is my first day without. How long will it take to get it out of my body. ## It takes about a week for the withdrawals to go away. If you have gabapentin, double up on that, it will take away nearly all of your withdrawals away. ## @Debbie (thread starter), According to nih.gov, Oxycodone's elimination half life ranges from 3-4 hours in its immediate release form. Given this information, you can do some math to get a general idea of how long it might take to be completely excreted. For example: A 10mg dose could dwindle down to a mere 0.00072mg within about 24 hours, based on a 3 hour half life (dividing the dose in half, and half of every subsequent half every 3 hours). As post #1 suggested, my findings also indica...

I tore my ACL about 4 years ago, and no one will operate on it.I have been dealing with Oxycodone addiction since i was first prescribed my 5 mg percocet. I am currently DETOXING from around 500 MG of oxycodone per day for about the last 4 months. I've Dt'd many times before, but i am in it for the long haul this time. I haven't slept in two nights and tonight isn't seeming to be very promising either. I'm just looking for some support, maybe someone to talk to through the harder times. Also if anyone knows of any OTC medications that may help get me through it would be greatly appreciated. I Love you Max Jr. Daddy will be better very soon. ## I completely understand the pain your experiencing, withdrawal's can be the single hardest thing to deal with, there are ...

Where can I fill my Florida prescription of 30mg oxycodone in Boston MA? ## I am sorry to say it, but I don't think you're in for an easy task. Due to the difficulties that may be involved with conforming the legitimacy of the prescription and tracking it, most pharmacies will not fill out of state prescriptions. In many areas, they won't even fill them from outside of the county, or immediate area. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Does anyone have any suggestions to make? ## I'm trying to think of more ideas to help you. Is it possible for you to see a local doctor there? Another alternative would be to go to a local ER, where they have to help you if you are in pain/withdrawals. They might at least give you enough of a prescription to get you through until you get ho...

Hi all, first time here. I have severe fibromyalgia, bipolar and ADHD. I have been in a lot of pain from the fibro and neck problems despite being given high doses of oxycodone four times a day. I have been. really depressed, unmotivated, indecisive, anxious and somewhat isolated. I finally couldn't take it anymore and went to my psych provider as a walk in. After I told him what had been going on, he decided I should try Cymbalta. From the very first capsule I took, my fibro pain WENT AWAY completely. But here is the problem. I started reading about the drug's lovely side effects and the horrible withdrawal that comes when one gets off of it and I don't know what to do. I am already sweating, leg twitches, and feeling anxious. i don't think I want to take this drug beca...

I have been on 80mg. Of oxycodone a day for 6 good mo. Now for my disease. Today I go to a new pain clinic as I moved to a new state. I just came from there to find out this state will not give 30mg.pills. They told me to take one a day for a week then return. Am I going to go through hard withdraws? This is unreal now it is back to suffering pain. Then after a week won't I go through more withdraws? Please help need some fast help! Thanks ## I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. This has been happening to people all over. Yes, you will most likely go through withdrawals both that first week and the next. As listed by the FDA, this is a narcotic, so its withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. H...

I've only been out of pills for a day, and I'm having withdrawals (was trying to tough it out a little longer, big mistake). Until my Rx comes through, any suggestions? I've taken some Xanax just to calm down a bit. *Have been on Hydro for awhile now due to issues with my feets if that matters. And also, I've been wondering if anyone has ever had any luck ordering hydrocodone or oxycodone online? I never tire of hearing a good scam story lol, but has anyone had success (no need to tell company names!)? ## If you are running out early, you should really discuss the problem with your doctor, to see if they can adjust your dosage or dosing interval and prevent such problems. Benzodiazepines are frequently given to help with minor withdrawal symptoms, however, they don't...

My pain mgt. doctor has decided that he wants to take me off Oxycodone 40mg per day and put me on Belbuca. I don't want to do this, but he is leaving me with no choice. What should I expect? ## How is he doing the transition? In order to start the Belbuca, you'll need to be off the Oxycodone for several days, otherwise it could throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Belbuca contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, so the FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Belbuca Information Many doctors are switching their patients as a precaution to help prevent them developing opiate abuse. ## How many days should I be off? Withdrawals do not sound like fun. But otherwise, it's going to depend on how much you were taking and for how long, just like Dolphin has pointed out. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I have been taking oxycodone like 5 yrs never took b4 injury. ive been on them for 4 years im in so much pain andran out thanks giving day and withdrawling please help me ## I am not sure what type of help you are seeking. this site does not manufacture, sell, nor prescribe any medications, this is an information only website. Have you tried talking to your doctor? However, you should be warned that if you are using them more often than you are supposed to and ran out early, they may not do anything to help. There really isn't a whole lot you can do for the withdrawals other than take something over the counter for the pain and nausea. If they get severe and dangerous, you should go to your nearest emergency treatment facility for assistance. Are there any questions or comments? ## There is a new "drug" (for lack of a better term) call...

Does anyone have any information about Oxytrex? I am currenly on oxycodone, 10 mg 3x a day. I want to start LDN (like 0.5 mg a day to start) but it appears I will have to completely come off the oxycodone first. But if theres a medication that combines he two maybe I don’t. My doctor tried 4.5 mgs on a patient and they had immediate withdrawals, but he isn’t sure that will happen to me on 0.5 mg. Does anyone have any links to the information from the drug trials, or what doses they are using?

I have been on 20mg of oxycontin and 10mg of oxycodone for pain and I had rotator cuff surgery 5 weeks ago. I thought I'd cut back on the meds and experienced the withdrawals. Now I'm not sure what to do? I need the pain meds for my physical therapy so going off them isn't possible although I think I'm tolerant and it hardly works for my pain after p.t. I'm seeing my pain management Dr. on Wednesday and I'm not sure what I should do? Ask for help cutting back, increase the dose but not 3 times daily? I just don't know? . ## Hello, Robin! How are you? I'd suggest just discussing the problem with your PM doctor and let them present ideas for solutions, such as a dosage increase or medication change. Doing it that way helps prevent them from viewing you as a...

I have been taking 10 mg of oxycontin at night, but I hate extended release medication so I am switching to 10 mg Oxycodone. I am concerned I will have withdrawals. If there’s only 10 mg of the medication in both formulas, the only difference should be that the instant release wear off faster, right? ## Yes, exactly, the Oxycontin is just a time released formulation of Oxycodone, so there shouldn't be a huge difference from switching. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth Are you on any other medications? ## Lol yeah, but I have been going to pain management since 2017 so I have a doctor dealing with all that. i have been taking vicodin for a long time and i have severe pain YOU ONLY BECOME AN ADDICT when you abuse meds,i try ice packs in between ,and it works great ## Hello, Linda! How are you? It's great that you are keeping your narcotic use under control! That's just awesome. And yes, you are correct. Addiction requires abuse, but regular use can result in your body getting used to something, so suddenly stopping could still result in some withdrawal effects, but nothing like the severe withdrawals one could experience from addiction. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
