I'm going in for a root canal in three days. It hurts bad and the only pain killer I have is a couple of diclofenac that my doc gave me for gout. Will diclofenac help alleviate tooth pain? ## It's a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can be used to treat pain, fever, and swelling, so it may help, but checking with a doctor or dentist would be best. I have been using Fosamax for 3 months, I have noticed severe pain in my big toe and just this week have severe pain in all my toes to the point of having trouble walking. I thought it was the sandals I was wearing but even after stopping that and going back to my good tennis shoes my toes are in terrible pain. Anybody else have this problem? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Fosomax contains the active ingredient Alendronic_acid and it has been known to cause some bone problems, primarily in the thigh, but it is always possible that it could also affect other bones in the body, as well. You should consult your doctor to get to the root of the problem. ## It sounds like an exact problem I had. It turned out to be "gout".

Can I take hydrocodone for gout pain? ## Yes, you can take hydrocodone for any kind of pain. Just make sure you are taking your own medication & not someone else's. lol seriously, though, they have other meds for gout, Allopurinol which is for acute gout, the kind in a flare up, and colchicine, which is to control gout for the long term. I would talk to your doc about those first. But for temporary use, ask your doc about a low dose of hydro just til the flare up eases.

osteoarthritis pain from lactic acid ## Hello, Jules! How are you? What condition are you asking about? It seems you're confusing several. Osteoarthritis is completely different from gout and the latter would involved uric acid. What have you been diagnosed with? NSAIDs can be used to treat osteoarthritis, unless one's health prohibits such, but gout often requires something to reduce the uric acid.

Started in his heal and now in his ankle. He has not had a gout attack this painful in many years. Can there be any chance that this medication could have initiated this? ## Then would the lactic acidosis trigger the gout?
