My in-law gave me this red capsule with TEVA and 3147 on it. Is it safe for me to take? Will it help my toothache? ## Hi Fay, The pill which you are describing is Cephalexin Monohydrate (500 mg); an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections (including toothaches). Learn More: Cephalexin Details I'd say it's safe to take as long as you're able to take a full prescribed amount of it in order to kill the infection. If you're only taking 1 pill, you may want to take some additional precautions to get rid of the infection indefinitely. One cheap but effective option is clove essential oil. It's an oil worth keeping in your medicine cabinet for future use and usually runs about $10-15 for a bottle that lasts for ages. I hope this helps!

I'm interested in knowing what the composition of the capsule is, ( derived from animal, plant or lab produced? ## The blue capsule in description is identified as Prazosin hydrochloride 5 mg. Judging by the look of it and other pills produced by this manufacturer (Teva Pharmaceuticals USA), I am almost certain that this specific pill is derived from various animal by-products. The blue dye alone is a red-alert in my book. Additionally, gelatin typically constitutes the shells of most pharmaceutical capsules, so I'm further swayed to believe that this holds true for Teva's products as well. There doesn't seem to be specific details on whether this is so or not; just compelling evidence that it is most-likely an animal by-product. I hope my opinion helps! ## very interest...

I was given about 6 of them by a friend for an absess on my arm. Is it safe to take them for an absess? Will it help heal it; possibly make it go away without having to go get it lanced and squeezed at the hospital. ## The red capsule you're describing is identified as Cephalexin 500 mg; an antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. Unfortunately there's no real way of knowing how well you'll end up responding to this drug, since it's common for antibiotics to effect each person differently (with regards to side effects, duration of treatment, and overall efficacy). This is why it's so important to use a legitimate prescription from your doctor, because they can offer you more appropriate advice after an in-person diagnoses/evaluation. For anyon...

I have an extremely painful oral Neuropathy of 3 cranial nerves for three years. I have had to travel out of state to see Specialists in both Oral Facial Pain and Neurology. There is no cure for this problem. Have tried acupuncture and Homeopathy without any improvement. The only thing that can be done is efforts at reducing the neurologic pain, the pain cannot be stopped. I take an antiseizure med Gabapentin (Neurontin) and also brand Valium 5 mg. every 12 hours. While I have health insurance, I have been paying outrageous Copays for Brand Valium. So at my request, the physician wrote for the Generic Diazepam. description says light red 93 front 149 back,my tablets are light red have 149 on back but TEVA printed on the front. Is this correct? ## Yes, it's still the same medication. Teva Pharmaceuticals used to use the 93 on all of their prescription tablets, but they have slowly been transitioning the imprints to use the TEVA logo, instead. You've just received the newer tablets and the pharmacy probably still has the old imprint information in their database and is still using that on their labels. Does Teva make amoxicillin 500 without red or yellow dye or Titanium Dioxide in it? I have allergies to all these plus aspirin. ## Hello, Trish! How are you? There are several companies that manufactured Amoxicillin, so you may want to look beyond Teva. Several make it in tablets, without any dyes or TD in them. You should just inform your pharmacist of your allergies and they'll be able to help you find an appropriate one to take. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

hurts to swallow not a sore throat but pain after i swallow ## Are you saying it hurts, after you swallow this medication? If so, then are you making sure that you take it with lots of water? Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and it may irritate the lining of the esophagus, if it comes into contact with it, because it isn't completely washed down. Alternatively, they can also increase your production of stomach acid, which can rebound into the esophagus and cause this type of irritation. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to stop using this or you may need a medication to help reduce your stomach acid production.

There is a small white pill inside my generic 5/20 Lotrel capsule. Is the pill amlodipine or benazepril? ## Do you have any info on who the manufacturer is? Other than contacting the manufacturer directly, I don't believe there's anyway to ID a pill (which was inside of another pill), unless it has imprints or markings to verify it. Also, if there's only one pill inside, wouldn't that mean they are combined into the same tablet? If the capsule is just a shell, it makes good sense for this to be the case. ## There are two manufacturers of the generic Lotrel (amlodipine/benezapril) The Teva product (pink and white) doesn't contain that other pill, but the Dr. Reddy Labs (orange and pale beige) does.
