I have bronchitis with a tinch of pneumonia. I also have degenerative disc in my back, herniated disc in my disc, and spurs with arthritis ## Hi raymond, Sorry to hear about your conditions. I too have been fighting off a pretty gnarly cough lately and can sympathize with how you may be feeling in that aspect. Have you gone in to see a doctor yet regarding the bronchitis or pneumonia? Pneumonia can become a serious and even life-threatening illness if left untreated, so I really hope you are able to seek medical attention sooner than later! Please feel free to keep us posted on your road to recovery! Wishing you well, David

how do you take zempred 4 for bronchitis ## Zempred contains the active ingredient Methylprednisolone, which is a CorticoSteroid. Administration guidelines note the following: "Methylprednisolone comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Your doctor will prescribe a dosing schedule that is best for you. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand." Since the guidelines are pretty vague, I'm assuming that it's essential for your to contact your doctor about the right dosage instructions for "you". One manufacturer of Methylprednisolone is Sandoz. I would also consider contacting them directly at the link below if you have any questions or comments that your doctor may not be able...

I have bronchitis. I was given amoxicillin a week ago to take for dental work and I still have 16 left. Can i take this? ## Hello, Laverne! How are you? Why didn't you finish the antibiotic prescription for the dental work? Not doing so creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance as explained in various NIH research articles. As to taking it for the bronchitis, it depends on how severe it is and whether or not it is bacterial in origin. It would be best to see your doctor to make sure an appropriate medication is prescribed, if one is necessary. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Can I take Clindamycin 300mg to treat bronchitis? ## Hello, Bruce! How are you? Yes, this is an antibiotic that can treat various bacterial infections, so it's fine if your doctor prescribed it for you. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, if your doctor hasn't prescribed it, then you shouldn't take it, because many cases of bronchitis are caused by viruses and antibiotics will have no effect on them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I read my bottle wrong and I've been taking clindamycin every 4 hrs when I was supposed to take it 4 times daily. Will I be ok?

I was given this drug for severe bronchitis and it has left me so tired. Will it help if I keep taking it? ## It sounds like the Doxycycline is really working hard on your system for you to be so tired. I felt a similar tiredness while taking a different antibiotic, so it's definitely not uncommon to feel that way. If you're already a few days into taking it then I would suggest continuing the treatment your doctor recommended until you're finished with the prescription. This will ensure that the bacteria doesn't end up building a resistance to antibiotics. How long have you been taking it for?

I have bronchitis and have some Prednisone pills that have expired on 10/15/15. Are they still ok to take? ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new supply, if required. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, fluid retention, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have copd and have developed bronchitis over the last week or so. I am allergic to penicillin. My doctor believes the bronchitis is bacterial and has prescribed a medication that the prescription insert says "May cause serious lung problems. Tell your doctor if you develop a cough, shortness of breath, or chest pain" all of which I have with copd and bronchitis. He also prescribed 5 days of prednisone and a pro air inhaler. What would be the best antibiotic given this information. (The medication is sulfameth/trimethoprim 800160mg TB.) ## There are risks associated with all medications and that warning is usually included with most antibiotics, due to the possibility of hypersensitivity reactions, thus, I really don't know what I could suggest that might be safer for you. ...

I thought the cefdinir would have kept me from having an abscessed tooth since I'm already on it for bronchitis. Why isn't it working for both? My tooth has a cap on it but needs the cap removed and a root canal done and a cap replaced... ## With the cap still on the tooth, there is a chance that it isn't able to properly drain to allow the infection to fully clear up. A dental abscess forms a pocket down in the roots, similar to that formed by a cyst, and it has to drain, or be drained, to clear out the bacteria that has caused the infection. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cefdinir as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. You may need another round of antibiotics, once the cap is removed, and the root canal is done....

Severe bronchitis event, followed by bronchial spasms and all nite coughing. Now feel somewhat asthmatic, had asthma as a child up to age 12 now 81. Was the coughing injurious to the avolia and should I not be surprised if this became permanent. ## Hello, JaCee! How are you? Our bodies do change, as we age, so it is possible that you've just developed asthma, again. It could even be the factor behind your developing bronchitis, according to the NIH. It happened to me recently, too. I'm 45 and had not had any severe allergy problems in years and no asthma attacks, either… but suddenly, I started having respiratory allergy issues, again, they lingered for awhile, turned into bronchitis and I still get asthma attacks. It is annoying, but just the way our bodies work, sometimes...

Have had shots and pills of Levofloxaci and prednisone with Guaiatussin cough surup. I feel better after taking but keeps coming back. I have been using Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray and allergy aller-technology everyday too. Is it time for a specialist? ## Yes, I think it is likely time for you to see an ENT. According to NIH reports, there is usually some underlying cause for such frequent repeated issues. How often do you take these medications? The Fluticasone is usually used twice a day, in severe cases. The Aller-tec, might not be the right medication to help you. You may need something stronger.
