Was prescribed S. Numlo 0.25 and Telma 40 when B.P was 150/100 in 2010 by DR. A. Stopped medication after 6 months as B.P. around 130/85. I have been taking half a tab of Seloken XL 25mg each morning for the last 3 years for high bp and my bp remains 130/90. Do I need to continue taking this or should I consult my doc for a change of medicine? ## Seloken XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol in a time release formulation, it is most commonly used to help control high blood pressure. I have been advised by my family physician to take one tablet of CTD 6.25 after breakfst and one tablet of seloken xl 50 after lunch instead of selomax 50/5, since selomax 50/5 is retaining water in the body and causes swellimg in the feet and calf muscle. After bypass surgery on July 2009, I have been taking SELOKEN XL 25 alongwith other medicines. .Now Doctor has prescribed BETALOC 25.instead of SELOKEN. My q.. is whether they are of same purpose? ## They are the same medication, they both contain the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that's used to treat hypertension and cardiac conditions, such as yours. I had under gone Angioplasty in 2010 January. One Medicate Stent & One Balloon was inserted. Then on I am under regular medication of (1) Deplatt A 75, Seloken XL 25, Atorva 10 every day. I am 64 now. I find no discomfort and maintaining my daily work from morning till late evening. I am 45 years old; Male; Normally I am quite active and brisk so far. But 10 days ago I suffered mild chest pain. Angiography was done. I undergone Bypass in Feb'12, but continued having chest pain even after bypass. Drs advised me for REDO CABG since (notices in angiography) one of the arteries (removed from chest) grafted has clogged therefore not catering blood flow of all blocked arteries. I refused for REDO Bypass, therefore Drs prescribed the following medicines Imdur 60 mg-half tab , Seloken XL 25 Mg 2 tab (M & E), Clopilet 75 mg 1 Tab, Crestor 10 mg 1 Tab, Ecosprin 75 mg 1 Tab . Can some one advise me how long these medicines to be taken. Is there better option with min. of side effect of this medicines.

I had angioplasty in 2011 (I never had a heart attack and I wanted to check my heart condition as my father died of Heart attack) as I underwent TMT there was some problem Doctor told me to take angiogram and he told me there is blocks and it is better to do Angioplasty as at anytime I can have a heart attack. There was blocks 100% in one and 75% in another and 45% in the third. He put stents in the first two and left other as it can be cured through medication. Now I am taking Atocor-20mg,Clopilet 75mg, Repace 25mg and Seloken XL 25mg and Ecosprin 150mg.
