She had two small stomach ulcers 12 years ago caused by H Pylori bacteria ## @Richard, Based on my research, regular use of aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can actually raise your risk for stomach ulcers. Although taking NSAIDs once in a while is safe for most people. Is Ibuprofen something your wife uses often? ## She just needs effective painkillers for a short time as she recovers from a hysterectomy. She started on paracetamol + codeine, but suffered problems with constipation from the codeine.

I have a question for the FDA and CDC. Drugs like Donnatal which had been on the market before WWII are now considered too dangerous. Many people have taken this drug as prescribed. In fact, I am 65 and took it at age 15 for ulcers with very little side effects. I look at the drugs currently being prescribed and see death, stroke, heart attack, liver failure, pancreatic problems, kidney failure, just to name a few and I have to question whether these drugs are not more deadly than drugs such as Donnatal? I know that any chemical in the human body has some side effects, but how can the side effects of approved drugs be any better than what has been used for years, not to mention the fact that unless a drug is priced to the max -- it doesn't seem to be considered safe. I am about to have a colonoscopy and my doctor advised me not to take any anti-inflammatory drugs. ## I had a colonoscopy done and sow the swilling in the picture taken. I was told that my problem is chronic. The doctor prescribed CANASA 1000 MG. This medication is so expansive that it cost me over $500 for 30 day supply, that is thru insurance. I have undergone angioplasty in 2005 after a heart attack. I am taking atorva 20 mg, deplatt 75 mg, ecosprin 75 mg. My cholesterol, triglycerides, are normal. I am not diabetic nor I have high BP. In 2011 I vomited blood and also used to pass blood in stool. I was in icu and I was told I have an ulcer in stomach/intestine region. I am taking pantodac 20 mg and iron tablets daily. My hb now is 13.4 gm%. What can I do to avoid further ulcers formation. Is there an alternative for ecosprin. It can be allopathic or homeopathic or ayurvedic. I faught the use of a narcotic drugs for the treatment of pain from bilateral knee and hip injuries until I just could not get relief from anything and the motrin gave me ulcers. I chose oxycontin because it was a low co pay and doc said it was very effective. Now after two years of living almost pain free I am forced to make a change because they quit making a generic for this drug. After a heart attack in 1995 I am taking ecosprin. But now I am suffering from gastric ulcers. Though they prescribe many drugs, all is neutralized by ecosprin, but I've experienced blood in my vomit and 24hrs of being uncomfortable in the stomach. No doctor is advising me to stop ecosprin. Is there an alternative I can use?

I get stomach cramps, being an old patient of Cardia Achalasia. But now there is no constriction in food pipe or any ulcers. I am on Pantaprazole and other anti acid drugs.
