I am currently on what my doctor calls a "pain management" plan since nothing else has worked. I take Vicodin 7.5/325 which right now is to be my at-home-pain-reliever. I was prescribed tramadol 50mg previously to take during the day and it was awesome! No pain, alert and able to work. But good feelings faded and became nothing. Now my doc had me on the same Vicodin. And I take Tramadol 50mg. (1-2 every six hours as needed, max 6 per day - Same as Vicodin) and Tylenol 3 (300/30mg) 1-2 twice daily. I already don't feel anything with this tramadol t3 combo. What is a good substitute I can take during the day? Maybe not even take before driving (1.5 hour commute - part of the issue lol) but maybe take eight after my commute is done and my shift is about to start. Don't wann...

Has anyone been on tramadol and then started on cymbalta too? I take 150 mg tramadol for a frozen shoulder am have been off Vicodin for a year due to its addictive properties. My Dr. added cymbalta due to increasing joint pain and ongoing depression with horrible morning depression. Just stopped taking 20 mg Lexapro. What have people noticed about combing these 2 meds? I want to function better but not develop serotonin syndrome. ## Hello, Mayvar! How are you? What dosage did he prescribe of the Cymbalta? That's the important factor regarding serotonin syndrome. Your dose needs to be carefully adjusted and your doctor should be monitoring you regularly so any symptoms can be caught early. ## It was the lowest dose of cymbalta, and I take 150 mg go tramadol. I took them both for two ...

Tramadol is not a narcotic but a very powerful pain medication without being a narcotic ## You are correct, it is not a narcotic nor a controlled substance; however, I have not found it to be a powerful pain killer. It has been abused a lot and is addictive but it did nothing for my pain, and is only recommended for mild to moderate pain. ## Does Ultram have the same effects as Percoset or Vicodin? ## I think I can add some valuable information to this post to better explain this issue… Tramadol was at one point classified as a narcotic opiate, but when it was found to not be as effective at treating pain, it was reclassified as a centrally acting analgesic. The way Tramadol came into being is because an attempt was made to take all the beneficial effects of an opiate ...

I am getting knee replacement and I don't want morphine because I throw up and bad headache and hallucinate. Vicodin does the same. Is there something I can take that won't harm me? I have high blood pressure, IBS, panic attacks, and depression. I take meds for these. I can't take tramadol because it interacts with Xanax. I am very scared. When I got my galbladder out they kept giving me morphine. I was so sick from it. The pain was still there. Let me know if there is something better than opiates. ## Hello, Robin! How are you? No, opiates are the best pain relievers, but there are others available that you could try, such as Dilaudid or Oxycodone. The FDA warns that they may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and c...

I have had my C-6 and 7 fused years ago and had pain releif from that. My symptom prior to rupture was dull pain in left scapula. After rupture, immense pain in scapula, left arm and numb index finger and thumb in left hand. After surgery, pain in back was gone and still had tingling and occasionally tip of left index finger went numb. Within this last year, my pain in scapula has returned and MRI shows moderate bulge in C-5 now. The pain was managed w 1 350mg Vicodin that I took when I got home from work at the end of day and naproxen while at work. I have been released by neurosurgeon to my primary. I have since been to neurologist for nerve conduction study to find that no nerve currently being pinched. They did however, discover that I have permanent nerve damage. I asked Dr. if I c...

I had both rotor cuffs removed 4 yrs ago been on 750 Vicodin would like to get off of them, will Ultram help? ## I really don't think that Ultram will help. The reason for this is because it contains the active ingredient Tramadol. While Tramadol is listed as just a centrally active analgesic, this has changed several times and been under severe debate. When it was being investigate, the developers were trying to create a medication that would work like a narcotic, but not have the side effects and the addictive nature, however, what they achieved was actually the opposite. It is nowhere near as effective as narcotic, yet can still cause the same side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation, plus it still has the propensity to cause abuse and addiction. There...

Hello, I have taken Vicodin, Tramadol, OR Lortabs OFF AND ON for the past 6 years. By off and on I mean, maybe two months on and four months off, throughout that time period. Over the last year and a half it has been strictly Vicodin, maybe one to one and a half of the m360's a day. Usually one in the morning and one in the evening. And this too has been off and on..stopping for a couple months, starting for a couple months. I haven't taken anything in a little over 2 weeks now and I still seem to have withdrawal effects that I normally never had. Every morning I wake up feeling "hungover", I get headaches almost everyday, my GI tract is always jumpy, I'm shaky and sweaty. It's just really weird to me that I am still going through this stuff..but the biggest thin...

I was just wondering what the effects of this pain pill are. Are they similiar to vicodin or norcos? ## I was on Ultraset in the past for a herniated disk. Ultraset is not as strong as Vicodin, Percocet. It is the lowest on the pole for the painkillers. Instead of weaning myself of the drug, I stopped immediately and had side effects. My muscles ache and I felt lethargic. ## Ultracet contains the active ingredients Acetaminophen and Tramadol, the Tramadol is derived from an opiate, but is not as effective at treating pain as an actual narcotic, which is why it is no longer classified as one. As of this time, it is only classified as a centrally acting analgesic. However, it does have some habit forming potential and can cause side effects similar to those of narcotics, such as nausea, d...

Hello all. I usually take Vicodin when I have bad back pain, but wanted to try something that wouldn't knock me out. I asked my Dr about Tramadol and he said he'd only prescribe one or the other. Long story short I filled my script and got green and orange capsules in a blister pack from Zenlabs. The pack says the drug is Zendol-50, containing 50 mg of Tramadol. It was produced for Zenlabs Canada in India. Now, these are very different than the little white pills I'm used to seeing. I took 3 last night (never taken that much before) and didn't feel much of anything. Can anyone help tell me if I'm taking some unknown drug or the real thing? Like most Indian meds, there is no imprint on the pill itself. ## Sorry, without an imprint it is impossible to postiviely identi...

I am currently taking Tramadol for lower back pain. It is not cutting it. It has been suggested to me to try Norco or Vicodin for more strentgh. do you agree? ## Norco and Vicodin are both brand names for the same medication, which is Acetaminophen coupled with the narcotic Hydrocodone. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, constipation, dizziness and dry mouth. However, only you and your doctor can decide if it is necessary for you to try something else. Is it your doctor that's advising you to do so? ## actually it is a registered nurse I know. I want to ask my doctor about it after I get some more info. I am also taking "SOMA" as a muscle relaxer. Any knoeledge of this? ## Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant, ...

I have been taking tramadol for a year now for my back and I have been reading about withdrawls and I really dont want to be dependant on ne medication bc I also take 5.5mg vicodin as well for about 6 months now and I want to know what the tramadol withdrawls are like and if I would need something from my Dr to reduce the withdrawals... Anyone with info would be very helpful...thanks. ## I have taken tramadol for over three years i stopped taking it because it was no longer helping me. I had no withdrawls what so ever. I would find it hard to beleive that anyone would have withdrawls with this drug. ## It is derived from a narcotic, they were trying to create a medication that would have an analgesic effect like narcotics, without the same side effects and addictive qualities. IT DIDN...

Hi everyone, I've been taking tramadol for a few years for a severe spinal stenosis, knee pain both knees (work related) upper arm pain, osteoporosis arthritis, etc. When I first started taking tramadol it was for a broken metatarsal in my right foot. I was originally given Vicodin, but I made me too loopy so took it to my doctor and asked for something else, he prescribed ultracet. It was great, no loopiness at all, I was still able to drive, work, etc. This became my drug of choice for pain. I requested it when I broke a metatarsal in left foot, then a fractured right big toe. Fast forward a few years to 2008, I lost vision so I started walking and catching the bus. That's when all of the other pains started. It began with pains in my back and left leg, and leg would fall asle...

Don't be fooled thinking it's not the usual pain killers you hear a vicodine, percocet etc. I was on tramadol for 6 yrs 8 pills @ 50 mg a day. Then got pregnant with my son and I weaned myself off of them for my child health. It was one of the worst things I've ever gone through. I felt like I was coming off of oxycodone all over again. When I was first put on them I was told by my doctor that they were none addictive and I wld be fine to rake. As I sd to her I didn't want to go through withdrawals again she assured me that they were not in the same class of drugs as vicodon etc. As of Feb 2015 tramadol is now listed as a narcotic. Just be aware and read all your facts before u start any new meds. Bcse I'm sure I'm not the only person who gets that doctor who giv...

P.S. iv read that tramadole may help if taken only for 5 to 10 days and also tamazapam, and colonodine (blood pressure) Am i psyching my self out? ## If you've only been taking them for this short of a period of time and only taking a fraction of the tablet, then at this point, your withdrawal symptoms, if any, should be minimal. If you do experience them...

So I recently moved here to South Florida (Cutler Bay to be exact) from Nevada and I have been taking 60 10 mg Vicodin a month for 7 years with no need for increase for pain from endometriosis. I brought my records and prescription bottles with me when I moved thinking I would have no problems transferring to a new long term Dr. who could fill my scripts. NO SUCH LUCK. Every Dr. I have gone to tries to fill me bogus Tramadol and tells me that there is no reason I should be taking Vicodin. They are making me feel like a drug seeker and absolutely refuse to give me my script. Does anyone know of a primary care or gynecologist South of Miami that is comfortable giving a legitimate pain prescription to someone in legitimate pain?! I'm beyond frustrated. It took me a long time to find th...

I got hurt serving in Afghanistan so I got medically discharged it was on morphine while I was in the service until I got out now they put me on Vicodin 10 and then they put me on tramadol and it does nothing for me I have done every type of treatment and nothing works how do I get them to just let me have what works ## Hello, Garu! How are you? Thank you for serving our country and I am very sorry that you were injured. Are you seeing a VA doctor or private physician? That might enable someone to provide you with better ideas, since you weren't specific which doctors you're dealing with. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have had a problem with opiates going back to 2006 starting with vicodin following shoulder surgery. My usage progressed to Percocet, fentanyl, OxyContin, suboxone - clean for 2.5 years, relapse on tramadol, back on suboxone for 2 years, jumped at 2mgs and now weening with kratom. To say it has been a journey is an understatement. I am not naive enough to think that using kratom means I'm "clean" from opiates. It is filling my receptors just like the rest an it's time for me to stop. I've been actively trying to stay clean for about a year now. I no longer chase the high, I just run from WDs. I've gone through them more times to count and only once pulled through and stayed clean for longer than a week or 2. I actually was clean for almost 3 years following my ...

What is stronger and how do these 2 drugs compare.....10/325 hydrocodone vs. tramadol 50 mg ## You really can't compare them, since they aren't in the same drug classes. The Hydrocodone in the Vicodin/Lortab is a potent narcotic analgesic. But the Tramadol is just a centrally acting analgesic, though it is derived from an opiate, it is nowhere near as strong and effective as the opiate narcotic class. Both can be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Vicodin details here and you can learn more Tramadol details here. Which one has been prescribed for you?

How does a 100 mg sr tab compare to a 500 vicodin, since they both have opiode and acitemiephine? Are they similar in amount of opiode? ## Hello, ZannieMan! How are you? A 100mg Tramazac SR tablet only contains Tramadol and not Acetaminophen. It is actually much weaker than Vicodin, the Hydrocodone in it is much stronger, especially coupled with the Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was given a generic toradol 10 mg from a friend for when I sprained my hand. My question is what are the effects of this pill? e.i. Hydrocodone seems to speed some people up, vicodin makes people drowsy, tramadol speeds some people up. I just want to know how it will affect me once I take it, whether morning or bedtime would be the best time to take this if there is any effect. ## There is really no way for anyone else to know how it is going to affect you. However, Toradol contains the active ingredient Ketorolac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and not a narcotic. Its normal side effects can include: nausea, headache, dizziness and stomach irritation. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments? ## Can anyone please tell me how much a Toradol shot costs?
