I took two SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 this AM by mistake. Is there anything I should watch for and do I take the next scheduled dose in 12 hrs? ## Hi Eve, Sorry to hear about your dosing mistake. If you're feeling ok hours afterwards I wouldn't necessarily be overly concerned, but just for your information, side effects of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim can include: Painful or swollen tongue; dizziness, spinning sensation; ringing in your ears; joint pain; or sleep problems (insomnia) More serious side effects that can occur may include: Fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild; pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding; cough, feeling short of breath; diarrhea that is watery or bloody; feeling...

Does Cheratussin AC contain any gluten ingredients, among other drugs? ## According to DailyMed, Cheratussin AC contains the following INACTIVE ingredients: - alcohol - caramel - citric acid - FD&C red #40 - flavor - glycerin - menthol racemic - purified water - saccharin sodium - sodium benzoate - sorbitol solution The manufacturer is Par (now owned by Endo), NDC 0603-1075. I don't believe any of those ingredients would contain gluten, although I don't know what is contained in their "flavor". As to other vitamins and medications, one would need to list specifics in order to look up the inactive ingredients and help determine whether there are any gluten-containing compounds. Update June 13, 2019: I called Par at (800) 828-9393, option 2 - and asked whether Cheratus...

You can see for yourself a list of possible side effects here: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000814/#a684026-sideEffects When side effects are severe it is highly recommended that you contact your doctor immediately to determine whether or not you need to stop the medication or begin taking something else in replace of it. I need to see a picture of a small yellow pill with a 5 on one side and a line across on the other side. I also need to identify a white oblong tablet with a marking of 8I. Please post back. ## A white oblong tablet with the marking of 8I is manufactured by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and they list as containing 800mgs of Ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is used to treat pain, fever, and swelling. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. There is a round yellow tablet with just the marking 5 on it, it is being manufactured by Carlsbad Technology, and they list it as containing 7.5mgs of Meloxicam, which is also a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that carries the ...

I have an open wound It burns. I have been cleaning with peroxide and using Neosporin It's now red around it. Don't know how I got it. Also I have tiny red spots, maybe ant bites or poison ivy. They itch. Because of these I can't sleep. I have a few SMZ/TMP. Can I use them.? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? Actually, you shouldn't be using peroxide on it, it can actually damage the surrounding healthy tissue and delay or prevent healing. In most cases, when it is used, it's just for the initial cleaning of the wound, but usually, your better off just cleaning it with soap and water. Have you consulted your doctor? You should have this checked out, especially since it's gotten red around it and you have those other tiny spots. This might not be the right antibiotic t...

I am taking szm/tmp ds 800-160 and doxy-cycl 100mg both twice daily and just observed very reduced urine flow. please advise what to do ## Hello, Leonard! How are you? The SMZ/TMP, which is a generic for Bactrim, is a sulfa based antibiotic, so it might cause urinary retention. Have you contacted your doctor? You may need to switch to a different antibiotic. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. How long has this been occurring?

I take norco and trazodone at bedtime for back pain & insomnia. Now my doctor prescribed gabapentin for the nerve pain in my feet. Can I take them all at the same? ## Generally, it is advised that Gabapentin and Norco not be taken together, according to the NIH, because Gabapentin can increase the toxicity of the Hydrocodone in Norco. Otherwise, for you safety, it is said that your doctor should reduce your dose of Hydrocodone by 20 to 30%. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Gabapentin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been on norco 10-325 2-3x/day for about 3 yrs and gabapentin 800 4x/day (gradual dose increase over past 2 yrs). Last year, my insomnia got way out of control an...

I have some IBuprofin. 800 and can u take 2 at a time for severe back pain ## Dear Redfire, I would not recommend taking more then one at a time. Taking one is like taking 4 Advil, so taking 2 is like taking 8 Advil. It could cause problems with you're stomach, not 2 mention dangerous effects. ## The maximum recommended dosage of Ibuprofen for adults is listed at 800mgs, to be taken four times daily. Given the increased risk of side effects, it probably would end up doing more harm than good if you were to take two of these. One thing I would suggest trying as a form of adjunctive therapy is essential oils. Many of them are really great at relieving sore muscles and aches. I find combinations like Lavender and Peppermint oil to have excellent anti-inflammatory effects as well. You c...

My 44 year son taking this drug for bacterial bladder infection. Following completion of the med, his urine is dark & grainy & it's difficult to urinate. I think you'll find that one or more of these symptoms could be exactly what he is experiencing: Fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild; pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding; cough, feeling short of breath; diarrhea that is watery or bloody; feeling restless or irritable, confusion, hallucinations, seizure; slow heart rate, weak pulse, se...
