The dosage and administration guidelines for this medication state the following: For adults and children over age 12, one capsule of Carbocisteine (Solmux) should be taken with food every 8 hours. I couldn't locate information pertaining to the length of time one should be taking this, but I would suggest contacting your local pharmacy about that, since it could depend on how severe the condition is. This is my second time noticing that I have some problems taking solmux 500mg. The first time was every time I coughed, I could feel so much pain in my stomach. My coughing had to be long and hard. The next day I went to the doctor, who instead prescribed me with an antibiotic. For the past two weeks I have had a cough and cold. I tried solmux but it's still the same so last saturday I tried ambroxol and my mom suggested that I also have to take cephalexin? Is it OK to take these two medications at the same time?
