Ramipril And Atenolol

I have been taking a half tablet of Amlopress-AT daily for several years. It used to keep my blood pressure (BP) at 130/80, sometimes even less than that. A doctor friend of mine advised me to avoid this medicine, as it contains Atenolol, a beta blocker; as per him, it's not suitable for someone of my age (62 years). He suggested that I switch to Ramcor 2.5 mg. So, for the last month, I have been taking Ramcor daily instead of Amlopress-AT. However, over the last few days, I have found my BP to be quite high - it was 160/80 a few days ago; today, it was 170/80. There has been no change in my lifestyle, diet, or exercise regimen. Im am having anxiety attacks and am wondering if his could be side effect. Am alergclx to amoxicillin and suphur based antibiotics.
