I need to find a less expensive alternative for Pot CL Micro 10MEQ. What is the MG equivalent that can be purchased over the counter? ## That is a generic and really shouldn't be that expensive. I had to pick up a bottle of 20meqs and it was only around $40. Have you tried different pharmacies? As to the conversion, I am not sure it would be any cheaper, since you would need 390mgs, to equal the 10meq dose.

I use this and am looking for a new supplier ## Finding a new supplier really depends on where you are located, and what's available in your region. It also depends on whether or not you are looking for a prescription pill vs pure powder form or other OTC variations. The FDA deemed that (over the counter) supplements can only have up to 99 mg of elemental Potassium per pill and 100 mg or higher requires a prescription…so a prescription could be several times more potent, saving you from taking several pills a day of a supplement. NOTE: Orally, Potassium Chloride is toxic "in excess". I can, however, look into it more specifically, if you can post back with more details. Can you ask her who the manufacturer is or what the markings are...

How many should a 78 year old female take daily. ## Hi, Rick! This is a prescription potassium supplement, so she should only be taking it if her doctor has instructed her to do so and then only in the prescribed amount each day. Low potassium can be dangerous, since it is vital to heart function, as well as quite a few other body functions, but too much can be just as dangerous. It also needs to be swallowed whole and preferably taken with a small meal, since it can be very irritating to the stomach. How much is she taking?

Can pot cl micro pills be cut in half? Having a hard time swallowing them. ## No, these tablets cannot be cut, crushed or broken. Potassium is very, very harsh on the stomach, actually the entire GI tract, so they are specially coated and made to be time released, so it doesn't all hit, at once. Cutting, crushing or breaking them could cause serious GI injuries, which may include gastritis and ulcers. Due to this, the FDA also recommends that they be taken with food and not on an empty stomach. Is there anything else I can help with?
