periactive gain well pills ## Can i take the pill even though i have a heart murmur? and didn't speak with my doctor? and would i get any side effect from it which i should be concern? ## Periactin is not actually intended to be used to gain weight and you shouldn't use it for that, unless your doctor has specially instructed you to do so. It contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, which is an antihistamine, weight gain is just a side effect that it may cause with long-term use. You also will likely not keep the appetite increase and weight gain once you stop taking it. It also causes the risk of other serious side effects. Learn more Cyproheptadine details here. So this is my 4th month on this pill and it's the 2nd time (not counting the first month) that I got my period on the active pill. Is that normal? I'm tired of having my period so often. Can I just stop taking them right now and start the new pack when I'm done with my period? Or skip the other pills and keep taking the blue ones? ## Hello, Yaya! How are you? If you're in the 4th month and still getting irregular bleeding, then you should consult your doctor as this may not be the right oral contraceptive for you to take. Usually, these issues only persist for the first 3 months. The FDA lists other typical side effects or oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can h...

I started taking birth control this month. My dog got hold of my pill pack and now 2 of my active pills are somewhere in the garden. Should I extend the placebo period for 2 more days so 7 days instead of 5. Or take a new pack right a way and have no placebo period till the next pack is finished ?

I've been on sprintec for about half a year now and never had problems. Recently I missed 2 blue pills and had intercourse within those days and now im spotting a week before the white pills. What does this mean? Do I jump ahead and start the white pills that im supposed to take while on my period? Why did this happen? ## HI, Nisa! That can happen if you miss active pills. When you have your period while taking oral hormonal contraceptives, it is actually called a withdrawal bleed, because it is due to a withdrawal of the hormones. The tablets you take that week are actually just placebos. Thus, by missing pills your body is made to operate as if it is time for the withdrawal bleed to occur and having intercourse those days increased the risk of pregnancy, just an FYI. ….and y...

Is 2 months and each month, after 20 pills got my period ... I took the rest active and no active last month and my period last 11 days . After that have watery clear discharge and every day have wear something ... My estrogen level is too high please help me ## It could be that this is the wrong oral contraceptive for you and you may need to switch to a different one. Have you consulted your doctor about the problem? The FDAl lists the other typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain. Though, it can be normal to experience irregular bleeding for the first 3 months, after starting oral contraceptives.

Hi, I was on my period the previous week from sunday to thursday, then I forgot to take 4 pills of Oralcon from friday till sunday and now I'm on my second period. I just want to know how long will this period last since the blood is too much and not decreasing ## Hello, Desiree! How are you? Yes, that can happen if you miss several in a row. The pills you take the week you have your period actually have no active hormones in them, so what you have them is a withdrawal bleed, thus, that's going to occur any other time you don't have the hormones going into your body. I can't say for sure how long it will last, perhaps a week or so, until your hormones balance back out from taking them, again. If it persists, you should see your doctor. Is there anything else I can help w...

I forgot to take Thursday thru Saturday of week 2 trisprintec pills. I went ahead and took the three that I missed and now I'm cramping. Should I continue my pack since I have one week left or just start a new pack after my period? ## Hello, Chloe! How are you? At the point where you miss that many, the FDA instructions usually tell you to start a new pack. However, unless your doctor says otherwise, you can start your new pack the first day of your period. That will ensure that you're immediately protected from pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on Sprintec 28 for...

Hi I just recently started using my pills and I was wondering what happens if my period ends before I'm done taking all of the placebos? Should I just continue to take all the placebos till theyre gone or start taking the active pills once my period ends? And is there any way I can choose the day I want my period to start? ## Hello, Rosa! How are you? Very good questions to ask, so you can be sure. You should continue taking all of the placebo pills, even if your period ends, before you're done with them. To choose the day you start, switch the day you start taking the placebo pills, just make sure your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can...

I've been taking lomedia 24 for a few months and I always get my period on the third week of the active pills. I don't understand why I'm still getting periods while I'm taking active pills. Also, Is the entire last week (3whites and 4 brown pills) placebo pills? Because I think since I got my period now, I might as well start a new pack on Sunday and skip the last week since I've already gotten my period, right? Can I just take them pack to pack (first 21 pills then start a new pack) and never get a period? Because I would love thattttt! I just really need advice. ## Hello, Tawanda! How are you? Irregular bleeding can be a normal side effect of hormonal contraceptives according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and PMS-like symptom...

Im just confused as to this pack and if I'm doing something wrong. My period has started on the 2 white pills and 2 pink pills before but that didn't last. It now always comes on 3rd week during the blue pills instead of from what I've been reading the "2 white 2 pink pills" and it's longer then I've ever had it? What am I doing wrong? ## Hello, Christina! How are you? You're not doing anything wrong, if you're taking all of the active blue pills around the same approximate time each day. Irregular bleeding can occur for the first 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to the hormones in this oral contraceptive. If it's been longer than 3 month, it may not be the right one for you and you may need to try a different one. Other typical si...

My doctor put me on Lo Loestrin to regulate my periods. Sometimes I go three months without one and then go a month continually having one. My question is this: which pills in the Lo Loestrin pack are inactive? I've heard that if you skip the inactive ones, you can skip periods. Please help. Really tired, cramping, and drained here.... ## Hi Amy, According to NIH.gov, each Lo Loestrin (Fe) blister pack of 28 tablets contain: 24 (active) blue, round tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “421” on the other and each containing 1 mg norethindrone and 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (active) white, hexagonal tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “422” on the other and each containing 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (non-hormonal placebo) ...

I missed two pills and will take two pills tomorrow to get back on schedule, I was wondering when to expect my period and how bad it would be this month? Last time I missed one pill and it caused my period to come a week early, just wondering how how its going to affect me. ## Hi, Nicole! I'm sorry, but there's really no way for anyone to know how your body will react to missing them. These contain synthetic hormones and everyone's body is different, so missing a tablet or two may cause major issues for some people, but others may not encounter any problems, at all. It's actually a withdrawal bleed from not taking active tablets for a day or two that induces your menstrual cycle, so if missing one tablet caused it to start early before, then that is most likely what will...

Just started taking activella, I am 43 and having night sweats and moodiness. Can anyone tell me if they were this young when needing on hrt, and did they have a period while on it? ## It hasn't happened to me personally, but I do know of it happening to people that young and it is well-known in the medical community. There is no hard and fast rule for when any women will enter menopause or the preliminary stages of it. And you can also still have periods while going through it and being on the hormone therapy, though they may be irregular and may stop altogether. Do you have any other questions?

If I get my period while still on the "active" pills do I continue to take them as normal? Is that an overdose of hormones? ## No, it is not an overdose, breakthrough bleeding is actually a normal side effect of hormonal contraceptives and can occur for the first few months you are taking them. And yes, you should continue taking them, just as normal. Is there anything else I can help with?
