I was dropped from consultants in pain management due to my blood pressure being high twice within 10 days. I now am on new medication, 40 mg Lisinopril and my blood pressure is back to normal. This means, that I am in search of a new specialist. I am 63 years of age and still working after numerous surgeries from injuries that are all documented. I am leaving for Baltimore Maryland in a week but will need to have a prescription with me in order to perform my duties. Can anyone suggest a provider for me? Thank you in advance. ## That is very odd, that's not a normal reason for them to dismiss someone, usually they give you a chance to see your primary care physician, or a cardiologist to get it under control. How high was it? Can you post back with some of the readings? The FDA list...

I'm a military veteran in desperate need of a good pain management specialist. I received my injuries during 8 yrs of naval service. I started experiencing seveir back pain before separating but was unable to seek in depth medical treatment while still serving due to the nature of my job and requirements of duty while over seas. After separating it took two years of going to the VA before they we're able to find a fracture in my L1 vertebrae, 3 hurniated disk, and degenerative disk disease. I was placed on Norco 10. Even after the initial medication I was still experiencing seveir pain from what I later found out was sciatica from the damaged nerves in my lower back. I was then prescribed Gabapentin with little result. After a year and a half of gritting my teeth I informed my P...

I used to live in the Richmond, VA area up until June of 2013, when I made the mistake of moving to Texas for 2 years, and now I'm back in the area. I have also been in chronic pain now for almost 14 years, have had 1 spinal surgery in '09 that was quite successful...until I was rear ended at a stoplight by some 'jerk' (note the PC term) going 65 -> 70 mph less than 18 months later. So now, I have 'Failed Back Surgery Syndrome" (yes, I kid you not, that's an ACTUAL diagnosis) on the disc I had surgery on (L5/S1), as well as herniations/tears on L3/L4 and L4/L5. Another wonderful fact about me is that I have a little genetic mutation called EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome). That just means that I take 10x longer to heal, I bleed more than most everyone else, a...

I am planning to retire and move from Maryland to South Boston, Virginia. I suffer with chronic back pain for about 10 years. I have had back surgery which only worsened my condition. I have herniated, bulging and protruding discs and my sacrum comes out of alignment on occasion. I have all of my records and x rays for proof. I have a specialist I see in MD on a monthly basis to prescribe the meds I need but am unable to locate a Pain Specialist anywhere close to South Boston or Halifax Virginia. I take Percocet 10/325 as needed and Morphine 30 mg extended release 2 times a day. Also Flexaril 3 times as needed for muscle spasms. This combination has finally made me able to stand and walk to do things I wasn't able to do before without excruciating pain. If I am unable to find a Doctor

I need a pain specialist in Maysville, Kentucky or Portsmouth, Ohio who isn't afraid to lose their license. Please list their name/phone/location! ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Such a doctor doesn't exist. If you'd spent many years of your life and a very large sum of money to go to school and get into your dream career, wouldn't you want to keep your license to practice? Additionally, on top of losing their license, they also face fines and jail time. If you require treatment for pain, you'll have to see a specialist and follow proper procedure. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area?

I am seeking a pain specialist for my sister whose own doctor died unexpectedly. She needs to get another doctor immediately. However, is having no success due to the fact that the insurance she has is Medicare, and Medicaid. PLEASE, any assistance is most welcome : ) ## Hello, Nana! How are you and your sister? Sorry about the problem that you're having. However, the best suggestion I can make is to contact Medicare and Medicaid and ask who accepts it in your area, that would most likely be the easiest way to find a new doctor. They usually keep listings for people that are seeking. Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area? ## Go to the Medicare website and put Physician Compare in the search bar, then your city, state or zip. ## Thanks for the helpful response. I took a half of a sub yesterday morning and nothing till today when my bac started killing me, so I took percocet. Will it atleast work for the pain??? ## Hello, Kimmy! How are you? And no, it will not. The Naloxone in the Suboxone neutralizes other narcotics to prevent their abuse, while you're being treated with it. You should ask about what you can take for pain that will work. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I will be traveling to East Coast-Vermont in Sept. and will need to see a pain specialist for numerous spine issues, fibromyalgia, failed operations and a great deal. I've changed healthcare plans (I receive disability because of chronic degenerative disc disease and spinal arthritis, both of which cause chronic pain). I need to find a PAIN SPECIALIST, not an addiction clinic, who will continue my 12mg/day buprenorphine prescription as well as give me botox IV's in my neck for muscle spasms (caused by 5 fusions that have forced my cervical spine straight). When I search the web for physicians in Boulder County, CO, who can prescribe buprenorphine, all of the listings are for addiction specialists and clinics! What is this mindset among physicians that all patients who need buprenorphine prescriptions are drug addicts? Is there a directory on the manufacturer's site that provides the names of ALL physicians who can prescribe buprenorphine?...

Have a multitude of chronic pain issues and can not find doctor to help me.Have medical records with me. Reports from Neurologist, Rhuematologist, Pain Treatment Center, Physiatrist, MRI's, CT Scan and three years of pharmacy records. Being treated like a drug addict. Without meds for three months. (Percocet 10/325). Not functioning and very sick. Can anyone help me? ## How have you been looking for a doctor? The reason I'm asking is because the biggest mistake I see many people making in your situation is calling a new doctor and asking if they will prescribe a particular medication. If you do that, doctors and their staff will view it as drug seeking behavior and, in many cases, you won't even get in the door. What you need to do is set up an appointment with a new pain ma...
