I recently had transposition of ulnar nerve, about a month ago. I am in horrible, chronic pain. Neurontin does not seem to be working. My pain management dr mentioned Topamax. How do I deal with this constant nerve pain. It is in my left hand, little finger and ring finger. ## I am very sorry about what you're dealing with, nerve pain is terrible. What is your current dose of Neurontin? You might do better with the Topomax, if your doctor thinks you should try it. It does work well for many people. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, alopecia, anemia, and anorexia. Are you on any other medications?

I started chantix 4 days ago, since than ive develop a rash on my neck and i started to have arm pain for 2 days now. To where i want to cry. ## Hello, Katelynn! How are you doing? Anytime you experience such severe issues after starting a medication, you should consult your doctor, as soon as possible. It sounds like this just might not be the right medication for you to take. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Back in December 2013 I had a bad heart attack and had to be put on Xarelto because I had blood clots in the lower region of the heart. The left side of my back gets pains when I stand up for an hour or more and I can't get my shopping done because the pain gets bad and weakens my back and legs. Can this drug be what is causing this? I also get a nasty taste in my mouth when I am in bed and my urine is discolored and has a foul odor. There is no blood anywhere. ## Yes, it could be due to the Xarelto. The FDA does list it as being known to cause such side effects, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, and headache. Has there been any change? You might need to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. This might not be the right one for you. Are you on any other m...

I am getting chest pain while on Keflex I feel that is related, but I don't see it listed as a side effect of the medication ## Hello, DW! How are you? No, that is not a normal side effect to this antibiotic, those would normally be things like nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash, stomach pain and diarrhea. Any time you experience chest pain, you should have it checked out, because there is a risk of being something serious. However, there is a chance that it has just caused you to produce more stomach acid than usual and the chest pain might be due to GERD. Have you ever suffered from heartburn, acid reflux, gastritis or an ulcer?

Just got back from Afghanistan was in multiple I.e.d attacks...constant headaches and joint pain....please help ## Hi Ben, I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been through- at least you made it back safely! I'm not from that area so unfortunately I don't know of a doctor that I can refer you to, however I thought I'd give you some information about a couple different pain treatment methods you might be interested in trying. First method I want to mention is acupuncture, I've personally been treated with acupuncture (for a painful nerve in my foot) and it was very successful, quick, and basically painless! I've even considered going back to treat migraines that I've been dealing with and joint pain. The second, is acupressure- which is less invasive tha...

I had chest pain for hours only to hear hours later my chest cavity POP loudly like the metal cap popping off a glass bottle. Soon following extreme pain in the sternum causing the sharpest jolts of pain continually for days now....would lyrica help decrease any of this pain until I can pick up my Naproxen in a few days? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? It would be best to have this checked out by your doctor to see what happened, you might have developed costocondroitis, or you may have separation of the rib cage. The Lyrica may help, but it takes about 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor just cut my methadone scripts and doesnt wana give methadone to anyone now i need to find a doc that will perscribe me them ive bin with same doc for ten yrs ## Hello, Rich! How are you? Due to the regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis. PCPs are no longer able to prescribe such medications. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried asking your current doctor for a referral to someone that can help? That might be the easiest way to find the help yu need. What is your general location? That would enable someone to sugg...

I have a torn Labium in my hip, chronic arthritis in my right knee, plus back pain. I'm having surgery soon for my hip (thank goodness). I've been on oxy for 3 years 10/325 and it's not helping any more. Not sure what to do. ## Hello, Rose! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The best thing to do would be to inform the prescribing doctor that it is no longer helping your pain. It is normal to develop a tolerance to a medication that you've taken for a long-period of time and for it to stop working as well, when that happens. It might be time to move on to a different medication to handle your pain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth an...

I have osteoarthritis and 5 discs that are bulged and 2 that have tears, degenerative disc disease, oh and arthritis in my jaw.. In severe pain everyday. What can I do or take to provide relief? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? What medications have you tried and what advice has your doctor provided? Proper treatment to alleviate your pain really depends on the severity of your pain, your overall health, other medications you may be taking, and other factors, according to the NIH. Opiates might help, though the FDA warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

I have been using fenofibrate for about 4 months. About that same time I started having sharp pain in my left hip area. I thought it might be a hip problem but it seems to be more like a muscle in the top of my buttocks to my very lower back. At times it seems to be more pronounced in the front side like my upper groin area. Sometime the pain lessens some if I am doing more physical activities during the day like mowing the lawn and working around the garden. I have also just in the last couple of days been having severe soreness in my right shoulder deltoid area. I just saw that the fenofibrate can cause some muscle aches. I stopped taking it a few days ago (my Dr.told me to anyway when the last prescription ran out) My question is if these are side effects from the fenofibrate how lon...

Been having treatment and acupuncture and nothing so far seems to help. There are times pain grabs me and almost puts me to the floor. I've been using patches on the area and at times do get some relief but it interferes with my walking as well. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? I do have arthritis. Thank you. ## I'm looking for something to fix the same thing...after driving for 10 minutes I get pain in the right side of my butt. Let me know if you find something to help. ## Hello Crafty Lady, I would love to give you some non medicinal ideas as to what you might be able to try to relieve the pain. First you can heat and ice the painful areas, which I am assuming is what the patches you are referring to are for. It is also extremely beneficial to do stretches that ta...

Any one have this side effect? Thanks ## Hello, Andy! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If the pain is that severe, you should have this checked out. This might not be the right medication for you to take, it may be causing a condition, such as an ulcer or gastritis. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including nausea, anxiety, bladder pain, sore throat and sneezing. Is there anything else I can help with?

Looking for a Dr in Manatee or Pinellas county FL for pain management and anxiety. I was taking Xanax 2mg and 80mg OC but my original doctor moved to the VA hospital. I'm on SSI and need help. ## Hello Butterfly2ite! How are you? Due to the new regulations set forth by the DEA last year, you'll actually need to see two different specialists to have such medications prescribed, one for pain management and the other a psychiatrist. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. The FDA lists Xanax as being a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache an...

I have been on Candesartan for about 3 to 4 weeks now (8mg) in addition to Amlodipine. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon as I have awful back pain and joint pain. I can’t do any housework or get on with my life as I feel so rigid. Can this happen on Candesartan? ## Hello Louise, Since I don't know the specific brand that you are taking I only researched the side effects associated with Candesartan in general. I've been using nuristerate for 4 months and i stopped on the 5th month. I made love with my fiance without a condom after that, but I used a morning after pill within the period of 72 hours. From the begining of the 6th month I've been experiencing breast pains is it normal to feel such pains or is there a posibility that I might be pregnant? Please help *worried* ## Hello, Yo! How are you? If you've been actively engaging in intercourse, there is always a risk of your getting pregnant, regardless of what form of protection you use. And from my own experience, I can tell you that breast pain is usually the first sign to show itself in many women. Have you consulted your doctor? Letting them do some blood work would be the best way to get an answer. ## Hi..I've been usin...

You might find a doc, but actually getting the scripts filled is another story completely. Apparently, there is a huge back order, all over the city, no one has anything. I have been On oxy 30's for three yrs., for chronic back pain, and I'm going into withdrawal because no one will fill. ## Hello, Bex! How are you doing? Have you had any luck, or are you still looking? The shortage should resolve very soon, the supply usually balances back out right around mid-January of the new year. ## Try MLK Pharmacy - they will fill but need a doctor who will prescribe - please help if possible

I started taking Macrobid for a UTI, I only took one pill yesterday and one today. This afternoon my right eye hurts and waters some. I have had dry eye issues in the eye previously. I am also female and 62 years old. Will this go away when I quit the Macrobid? ## It might not, actually, according to the FDA, this medication has been known to cause optic neuritis, which can sometimes result in permanent damage to the optic nerve. It would be best to have this checked, because you may need to switch to a different medication. Have you experienced any other side effects?

I have been taking riveroxaban for six months now following a DVT and a PE after I had surgery on my leg in January. I have a tight chest more so when lying down and also dizziness and pains in the left side of my head. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? I have had chest X Ray's which come back clear but I'm struggling to be listened to and wonder if it is the medication as it started a few days after taking this medication. Thanks ## Yes, there is a chance it might be due to the medication, according to NIH reports. It can also cause nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. Are you on any other medications, or is this the only one you take? How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Had a bad fall 3 months ago. Hit the floor hard on my right knee, hip and shoulder. My right knee was swollen for almost two weeks. Took about a month and half to recover. Recently that is more than 3 months after the fall, i had pain in my right knee. Two weeks ago it became swollen around the knee and i had to limp to move around. Although the swelling has reduce a lot yet it pains when i touch Or move my right leg. Feels like tightness just below the kneecap. ## You might have sprained the knee, but over extending the tendons, ligaments, or both. I am currently on Opana ER 20mg twice daily, but with not much pain relief. Would a prescription of 30mg twice daily OR 20mg three times a day be reasonable? I have been in significant pain for a long time and want to get something that would make the pain more bearable. ## It really depends on you. A higher may help, but there is a chance that it might now, it could be that this just isn't the right medication for you. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?
