I have been taking 60mg ms contin extended release 3 times a day + 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day. Recently my doctor changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release. He also added lyrica 75 mg and I also take baclofen 10mg & amitriptyline 50mg in which i take 2. I'm still in constant pain. I was shot 8 yrs ago and I still hardly feel relief. What will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosages are not equivalent, which likely explains why you are in pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to the Lyrica, that may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches ...

I am currently taking oxycodone hcl ir 10mg 3 times a day as prescribed by my dr for 4 herniated disks with degeneration in my neck. I have very severe chronic pain in my neck, shoulder, and arm from this. The pills do help with the pain, but only last about 3 hours. which still leaves me in pain a lot of the day. Should I just inform my dr of this, or should I request a certain amount a day? I have been taking this amount for about 5 months now. I am not looking for a stronger pill, just more frequency of taking them. I do not have insurance, and can not afford extended release pills, as they are about 6-8 times the amount of money. I take my pills as prescribed, and do not abuse them. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. It would be best to inform yo...

I get sick from pain meds and never taken it before! I'm on oxycodone 10mg immediate release, well my doctor added oxycotin 10mg extended release to it. ## Hello, Lucky! How are you? No, you can't cut or break the Oxycontin tablets. They must be taken whole. These new ones are intended to be tamper proof, to prevent someone abusing them, so it you try to cut or break them, you just end up with a pile of gummy goo that retains all the active ingredient in it and keeps its time released properties. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My doctor changed me to 20 mg oxycodone. It was to strong. Making me sleepy and unable to maintain ADL. ## Hello, Angelmay! How are you? There is a 15mg extended release that is in between those doses, so you may experience better results with it. It's something you could ask your doctor about trying. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any ideas or advice to offer?

Taking these small round pink tablets specified as 10mg IMM REL for severe back pain. I tam allowed three a day...not a lot of relief ## There is no immediate release 10mg Oxycodone tablet, the immediate release is only available as a 5mg tablet. Learn more Oxycodone details here. If you have a 10mg tablet, it's either a regular release, or an extended release which would be Oxycontin. There is a small, pink, round tablet with the marking K 56 that contains 10mgs and its a regular release tablet, which means it will take 20 to 30 minutes to start having an effect in the body. There's also one with ETH 461 on it that's pink and is another 10mg regular release tablet. Out of curiosity what is stronger Percocet 7.5 (325 mg) or Oxycodone 10 mg Immediate Release (IR)? I know the only difference between these two is one has Acetaminophen and one doesn’t. The 7.5 mg Perc didn’t say if it was IR or (Extended Release) ER. If needed more details I’ll explain replying to your post(s). Just trying to have an idea. ## Percocet is immediate release, and even though the Acetaminophen does boost its efficacy for some people that take it, the 10mg Oxycodone is still stronger. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. I just started taking methadone a couple days ago for pain because I was in a pain clinic taking Oxycodone (perks) and Oxycontin (extended release perks) both at 10mg 3x a day but I would take more than prescribed because it didnt help my pain at that amount alone. Then I found out i am pregnant and those meds are category B in the FDA database so its safer to take them while pregnant but I missed one appointment at the pain center that i didnt even know about they made an appointment for me without seeing if i could make it and didnt notify me prior to the appointment day so of course i missed it. Then they kicked me out and said i refused a pill count that i didnt even know i had i mean C'MON thats stupid. but anyway before that happened my doctor put me on this Butrans patch 5 mi...

Round yellowish/gold pill with a M in a square around it on 1 side, and 505 on the other (I think). What is this? I was told it was a Percocet 40. ## A round yellow tablet marked [M] inside a box on one side and 595 on the other side is Oxycodone Hydrochloride Extended Release 40 mg (NDC 00406-0595). The difference between Percocet and this is that Percocet also contains Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Manufacturer: Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals Hope this helps! ## The closest match I could locate is a pill imprinted with "M" on one side (not in a box) and "505" on the other. It is also a white pill and not yellowish/gold as you described. This pill is identified as Bisoprolol fumarate (10mg) + hydrochlorothiazide (6.25 mg); which is used to treat high blood pressure. I AM TAKING HYDROCO/APAP 5-325MG TAB 1 PILL EVERY 6 HRS FOR PAIN I AM IN TEARS. ISN'T THERE A STRONGER PILL FROM DR. ## Yes, there are many stronger pills. You should call your doctor and tell them that your medication is not helping the pain. I hope you get some relief soon. ## Hi Gary, Post #1 is right about there being a lot of other options for pain relief; many of which are stronger than a 5mg dose of hydrocodone + 325mg of acetaminophen. If it were me, I would talk with my doctor about upping the dose of hydrocodone to 7.5mg or 10mg, since that is considered to be the "next step up" in terms of potency. From there it seems like oxycodone, opana, dilaudid, fentanyl, extended release meds, etc, are reserved for more serious or long term cases of chronic pain management.....
